I won't be able to always do a certain workout on a set day. I will definitely do a sprint for my first. Hope this can work. Just need to research plans a little more and set my weekly goals. Thanks! |

My shouldier is hurting me again but I still wanted to get the workout in - so I shortened it by 25% My sholdier aches as I type this and I'm hoping that a weekend without swimming will heal it right up! Gonna get in a long run this afternoon. I'm gonna pretend I'm Alex - with the temps getting close to 90 and a ton of humidity - it shouldn't be too hard. Question - Has anyone figured out how to add a table to a forum post so we can add our weekly goals? If so, please let me know. If not - what ideas does the group have to post the goals? (for those of you who are just joining us - every week I post a table and everyone fills in their goals and the reward they will give themselves for achieving that goal. It's a great tool to let us support each other." Finally - today is the day when I'm hoping to come to some sort of agreement with my boss. Please pray that we are able to come to some kind of compromise. Thanks! Good luck with the contract negotiations |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Open Thanks for the kind wishes about the contract negotiations... Unfortunately, nothing was resolved today. grr. So, I went out for a run after school. I made a couple of big mistakes: 1) I didn't have anything other than coffee to drink all day, 2) I had already worked out in the pool, 3) ate a large helping of Stouffer's Mac and Cheese for lunch (another great thing Cleveland has given the word). 4) Trying to keep up with friends who regularly run 8 minute miles when I routinely run 10-11 minutes per mile. After two I started to get dizzy. After 3 I had to walk. And to add insult to injury, I ended up going the wrong way in the woods. Lesson learned - I need to stay hydrated. On the plus side (and there is always a plus side) - the 5.59 miles was the longest I've run since last November. |

145 Jackson, Mississippi | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Open Well, I've been at this a week now. Kind of a spontaneous decision to train for a tri, but I had to have a goal. Very hard to keep up the running and biking without something to shoot for. How hard? I haven't run more than 20 run miles in a month all year and hadn't ridden my bike at all! I feel like a slug! However, I'm feeling really optimistic at this point. I'm sure I'll get a reality check sooner or later, but I'm hopeful I won't lay a complete egg if I actually enter the sprint tri I'm considering in August. Rode the bike three times this week. 17, 24 and 24 miles. On the third ride it felt like I was going to have a terrible ride. My legs burned the entire time and there was a lot more wind than the other two rides as well as 1/2 gal. of water in my camelback. (Ya'll talk about Florida humidity, we do it pretty well here in Mississippi!) Well, to my suprise I rode an even faster time! And then today I went out for a short, easy run because my legs are shot!!! But again, I ran my fastest pace since April. Expected to pace between 8:30 and 8:45 but ended up sub 8:00 for 2.25! Like I said, I'm sure reality will hit me soon but I'm super excited to see improvement so soon. Thanks again for everyone's encouragement!!! Bill Tonights Selection: Sam Adams Alpine Spring. What are ya'll having? |

You will do outstanding if the event is in August. You're "already there" to finish. Keep up the training, and you may podium finish! I'm having a Vodka beverage tonight. |

Expert 1662 Spokane, WA | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Open Since I have nothing tri related to report... While watching the Blackhawks move on to the Western Conference Finals against the Kings on Wednesday, I had a Total Domination IPA from Ninkasi, a IPA from NO-LI, (local Spokane Brewer), and an APA from Alaskan My opinion: I despise Alaskan, and after having the prior two beers, which were tremendously bitter and hoppy , I had the Alaskan (on my bro in laws recommendation) which was over carbonated and not that good. The Ninkasi is very good. They make a IPA called tricerahops which is dynamite. The total domination is there other IPA, and it's a fine drinker. No-Li is a great local brewery (formerly Northern Lights). Their Crystal Bitter is outstanding. The IPA was decent. Ninkasi was the clear favorite. It's on my short list of favorite IPA's. |

Sciatic pain down my leg has been hurting for over a month. Seems like I hurt it at one point and now the pain won't stop. Sitting for extended periods kills and really makes the drive to work and home especially really bad. Stretching seems to help easy the pain any other suggestions? Do you see a doc over this or is it a part of life? I wonder if I go see the doc if she will prescribe physical therapy, that wouldn't be so bad. Sciatic pain caused me to miss a 5K earlier this year. went to the chiro a few times which helped alot. recently bought in inversion table that i hop on for a few mins a few times a week, especially when i start to feel that twinge in my back and legs. |

Kevin: Thanks for the support. No, I'm not on any training plan. Still trying to "figure it out". I have 11 weeks until the race and I'm trying to find plans that match my fitness level. I've seen some that are very intense and others that look too easy. I may pick and choose from each and come up with my own. I'm planning on going to the pool today for my first swim. Not too sure what to expect. I imagine it will be pretty tough. I have to be careful not to over-train because I battle chronic tendonosis in my shoulders and elbows. I found a swim plan called "zero to 1650 in six weeks". I hope to try using this plan by the middle of June. If you have any training plan ideas, please let me know. I'm really in the dark right now. Thanks! Bill |
