Extreme Veteran 452 Ottawa, Ontario | Subject: RE: run4yrlif's group-CLOSED Wow - three new triathletes. Congrats everyone. We had some great racing last weekend, and the one before as well. I did a sprint last weekend. It was the race I did last year as my first tri, and I managed to shave 10 minutes off of last year's time. I pulled off my first strong swim, and did a PR on the 5 k. I'm so pumped. I finally feel like a triathlete. My last two races felt like a slog to the finish, while this one I felt strong the whole way through. I'm off to read all your race reports from the last two weekends (mine's up now). Woo hoo. Keep up the great work all. D |

Master 1914 Finally north of the Mason-Dixon Line | Subject: RE: run4yrlif's group-CLOSED Hi all!!! I'm back. RR is up but read bootygirl's first as she remembered more details and gives a better picture of pre race.... feet are healing but came home to find husband with bashed up face from car accident. broken nose, and eye lacerations from brow to eye lashes almost... not a preety picture. It happened night before we drove to Minnesota and he didn't want me worrying... he'll live but is sore and bruised and swollen. Who knows about truck though! Came home also to great looking house. New windows!!! and new paint downstairs. No more ugly wall paper! Now I just have to clean everything and put house back together. Training to resume soon but feet are still pretty bad and need more time to heal before I start running and biking for October tri. Swim class though tomorrow night!!! Have a good week everyone!

Hey, congratulations on another race! Just read bootygirl's report - it was a hard one for her. Feel sorry for your husband, poor guy - I hope he gets well quickly and insurance pays for the truck! |

Extreme Veteran 877 Pa | Subject: RE: run4yrlif's group-CLOSED Hey Everyone! I did my second tri yesterday. I did it to get the OWS practice in before my attempt at Chicago. I absolutely suck at swimming. In the pool I'm ok and have been doing well and making marked improvement. In the OW it's as if I don't swim at all. It's crazy & upsetting. So I'm having some serious mental issues with this swim. BUT, I will say that I felt much more comfortable in the water this time than last week in my first tri. I did well in the bike. It was hillier than I'm used to and I still managed to maintain above 17 mph. Not as good as my 19 mph last race but this course was much more difficult. I did better in the run this time than I had last week. They advertised this run as flat and fast, but my hamstring can assure you that it wasn't flat. 10 mpm down to 8:47, so my legs I guess are getting used to this running off of the bike stuff. My times for the 5k are much faster than that, so assuming that it will always be slower in the triathlon I still have a ways to go until I get my 5k time after swimming & biking down to at least a minute slower than a 5k by itself (am I correct in assuming that last bit). At the end of the day I'm a very happy camper. These two races, as well as the one coming up, will give me somewhere to start as far as improving for next year

Master 1609 Gold Coast Australia. | Subject: RE: run4yrlif's group-CLOSED Carrie, you did really well. OWS is really different than pool as I found out few times before, specially on a choppy day in Lake Michigan. Definately put a wetsuit on in Chicago! It can be cold and rough. I didn't get the spot there, but will be watching the show from the dry land. |

Member 281 | Subject: RE: run4yrlif's group-CLOSED Carrie, Nice job again. Way to hang in there on the swim. Markz may know of a good pizza place in Chicago for your night before meal. Tri-Mama hope your husband is recovering quickly from the car crash. I made the mistake of calling my wife before the ambulance arrived to pick me up when I rolled my pick-up. She freaked out when I had to hang up & get put in the KED thing to be put on the backboard. |

Extreme Veteran 488 ATLANTA | Subject: RE: run4yrlif's group-CLOSED Hello all,
I am back from a trip to Maine where the high temps were in the 70s, vs 100s in ATL. So I got in lots of running and open water swimming in the bay. It was my first time to swim in my wet suit and it wasn't bad. I bought it used on ebay and so it seemed to leak just a bit. But not enough to really bother me, just an initial shock. I figure the water up there is so much colder than anything I will be in for in ATL that I should be ok. The only drawback of Maine is all of the lobster and blueberry pies that I ate I gained over 10 pounds in 8 days and now have to cram to get back to a decent weight for completing an international next month. |

Markz may know of a good pizza place in Chicago for your night before meal... Yes, great idea - I would suggest Italian Village in downtown for pizza/ pasta meal - it has this Italian mafia style... Carrie, please send me PM if you are interested and if there's anything else I can assist you with while you are in Chicago. |

I looked up everyone's logs because I'm working tonight & there is no possible way(99% sure) I can make a mistake to mess-up the drilling of the well. We are currently at 21605 ft. JBD, that must of been a lot lobsters & blueberries! You must washed it down with a few beverages. Have a Great weekend everyone. There already is a chill in the air at night up here in ND. |

Member 22 Rapid City, SD | Subject: RE: run4yrlif's group-CLOSED The Dam 09 Super Sprint Triathlon that I was supposed to run tomorrow, got changed to a Du. Apparently the bike course is under 12 feet of water. So it's a run swim run. This should be interesting. Especiallly since I have to wake up in 5 hours to get ready. 'Night folks. |

Master 1609 Gold Coast Australia. | Subject: RE: run4yrlif's group-CLOSED Hope everyone had a great weekend! I have officially joined the ranks... Just came back from Pleasant Prairie where (in spite of rain and storms all night that made it impossible to sleep at all) I have finished my first Sprint Tri (750/20/5)with the time of 1:27:24. It was fantastic, more than 2000 people, well organized. I'm off to preparing a report and uploading some pics. |

Champion 8540 the colony texas | Subject: RE: run4yrlif's group-CLOSED Bopper - 2007-08-19 9:32 PM Well... I'm back. In one piece, but VERY tired and VERY VERY VERY sore. Special where the body meets the bike.... OMG... it's like on fire. So... Tour for Kids was another ROUSING success. 400 cyclists rode between 100-200 km/day, in all weather conditions to raise $750,000 for children's oncology camps. These camps treat kids with pediatric cancer of ALL sorts and give the kids the chance to be kids again for a week.... instead of cancer patient or survivor. We even had a couple survivors on the ride with us the last 4 days... it was an inspirational and wonderful experience. To all the folks who raced this weekend.... CONGRATULATIONS... you are awesome. To all who trained... keep up the great work. To those who lived life... stay healthy and happy... no matter the circumstances you are in now... things could be a LOT worse (ok ... Cathleen... maybe not you, hope everyone's feeling tip top soon).
WOW !!! that sounds awesome.. I'm a sucker for any cause for kids.........Great job in being a part of it... that is soo incredible what people can do when they pull together for a great cause |
