Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: November "You Choice" Challenge Team Wild Hippo's Joe, the penalty for not winning or losing last months challenge was that you had to put a picture of your legs as your avitar thingy under your name on left there. The team Allysa was on won, but she was voyeristically anticipating in a kind of avoidance avoidance conflict putting a pic of her legs up for all to see. So then when she didn't lose she felt a burning desire not only to post her own leg shot, but to entice everyone else to. So it is a cary over from last month's challenge. Or at least that is my best guess. No offense intended in that Alyssa, if you took some it wasn't intended, I try to not discourage women from showing off their legs as a genearl policy. /em smirk, puts on his most inocent face... Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: November "You Choice" Challenge Team Wild Hippo's no offense taken steve although, i have to say (innocently) there was no burning voyeristic desire there (innocent smile) i was just trying to entice YOU to follow suit (coy smile) that being said. NICE 5K time! especially after the vicious biking! i might be SLIGHTLY faster than you running, but after i bike, i'm practically worthless, AND you'd kick my butt on the bike ANY DAY. (and no i have no burning voyeristic desire to show you my butt-so don't ask ) dh working OT this morning, so i'm stuck until afternoon. but this afternoon i think i'll do the same thing i did yesterday, jog a bit, then head to that flat spot and sprint my guts out. go team hippos!! |

I am afraid she might put me on restriction and not allow me to run tomorrow morning. Worse, it might affect my ability to go to happy hour after school tomorrow. |

New user 12 SLC, Lago Salgado | Subject: RE: November "You Choice" Challenge Team Wild Hippo's Hey, I'm the new guy on the team. Since I'm only three days into triathlon training and never done anything like this before, I hope I can do alright. My goal is to run 40 miles in November. I've only gotten 3.18 so far yesterday. I slept in today, but I will probably do some running tonight. I'm finding that the hardest thing with triathlon training so far is the early hours. |

Veteran 122 Michigan | Subject: RE: November "You Choice" Challenge Team Wild Hippo's Hey Vida-- welcome! And to all the new-ish team members, too! I have to confess a coupla things-- I'm having a hard time keeping up with all the posts and keeping everybody straight. I think the photo posts are a great idea (Nice legs and baby blues!) because they help me remember who is who! Ha! Also-- I'm a bit behind in my goals but intend to put in some real swim time this weekend. So-- here's my contribution to team spirit-- I love this photo my husband snapped of my son and me with his phone while we were on vacation this summer. It's a sweet moment, yes, but I really like the way my calves look. jenna (e&mbilt.jpg) Attachments ---------------- e&mbilt.jpg (36KB - 8 downloads) |

TinkerBeth 23096 Liverpool, New York | Subject: RE: November "You Choice" Challenge Team 7 lyssa-gator - 2007-11-07 11:34 AM ok ok, i'm getting flak about the leg thing. you don't have to post a leg pic. no one has to post any pic at all. IF you are proud of your legs, by all means--post them. you'll get affirmation all over the place. IF your proud of your arms, abs, shoulders, heck-eyebrows. post that. no one has to post, if you CHOOSE to post, it can be whatever you're proud of. i've never thought i had anything so wonderful in the leg dept, but after posting, and the affirmation that followed, i reccomend posting. it's good for the ego go hippos go!! very true - it is good for the ego! never would have thunk it

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: November "You Choice" Challenge Team Wild Hippo's Alyssa, I have been running 2-3 bricks a week for about 2-3 weeks now and the bike to run transition isn't at all bad anymore. I no longer have dead legs right away off the bike. I used to have like a half mile of my legs being dead, then I got the tri bike and then it was only my calves for a bit and now I transition fine from bike to run with anything less than 35 mile bike. I found that endurance is a bit iffy though, I start off fine and am chomping at the bit to up the speed a bit by the end of the first mile, but if I go faster than 6.5 mph for a 5k or much over 6.0 for a 10k I start to loose steam after the first 2 (for 5k) to 3 miles (for 10k). That is just a fitness thing. As much as I would love to go from couch to a Full Ironman in 3 months... (if wishes were horses then drives would ride)... there is the reality of needing to just be consistent, put in the time and build the endurance for a couple of years, not months. As it is I did 3 sprint distance bricks last week on 3 consecutive days, so I am no longer worried about finishing my sprint Tri for next month. The Oly distance though.... is a different story. 25 miles on a bike is cake, but the 6 mile run afterwards... not yet. Oh and I got the funky 5 fingered (toed) shoes lastnight with the no padding soul. They are supposed to strengthen parts of your feet/legs that regular running shoes weaken and force you into the correct running form. I did .7 miles on them and started getting a hotspot, so changed back to the running shoes again. Wow what a difference. Running shoes are like running on a matress after barefoot/tread only running. One more thing to build up endurance and calusses for. Oh well back to work. |

Dont worry about missing a days training if you arent well... you will recover better and be back to full strength FASTER if you listen to your body and take the time to recover! |
