I have an Ironman watch that I use in the pool, but it doesn't have GPS... I would love a watch that would measure distance, so I wouldn't have to keep hitting start/stop after every lap... (I'm lazy)  Plus, if it gave an accurate distance in Open Water, that would be a PLUS... I know the Garmin 310xt has had problems with that functionality.... I'm going to look up reviews.

Someone had a really good review of the 310 vs. the timex. I think they gave the edge to the Garmin but at $129 I would give the edge to the Timex.

Diane - the issue would be is that most GPS' don't work that well in a pool.  But you should check out:

Actually, my RWOL Secret Santa got me one... but she got the wrong one... she got a stop-watch, not a lap counter  LOL.... not that the stop-watch is bad, but I have problems counting the LAPS  LOL

I was actually looking at this: http://www.swimoutlet.com/product_p/18030.htm?color=9325  But if the Timex does the same thing (using the auto lap functionality - if auto lap can go as low as 20 yards)  then I would want the Timex as I can't find my 305 anywhere grrrrrr  it's gotta be around here somewhere!!!

Notwithstanding the torrential rains yesterday, I got to the pool yesterday for the first time in ages. You know its been a long time since you were at the pool/gym when:

  1. You can't remember the combo on your lock;
  2. All the regulars stop to say, "Hey, look who's back";
  3. ... insert your anecdote here ...

Planning to get back to the pool again today and even though I did my 1 minute plank (barely) yesterday, I will repeat it today for the official 1st Day of Christmas challenge.

Speaking tonight to members of our provincial legislature on the impact of diabetes on me and my family and the importance of: (a) a provincial diabetes strategy to reduce growing prevalence; and (b) public funding for medications and supplies so people with the disease can properly manage it thereby avoiding the secondary complications - kidney failure, heart disease, blindness, amputations, etc. - that are wreaking havoc on our economy and will bankrupt our health system.

On the Christmas front, my daughter emailed the other day to ask for gift suggestions. I told her that I really didn't want or need anything. Not willing to accept this as an answer she wrote back and said I had to give her some ideas. So, I said what about a pair of cycling shoe covers for spring/fall riding (when my tender tootsies are prone to freeze . She wrote back (after ROFL) to say: (a) who knew such things existed; and (b) who would have figured I'd want such things.

Hey all!
As promised I am trying to post everyday.  Got a nice trainer ride in last night.  Also, when I got home I had a nice surprise as a Tri friend of mine who is sponsored by Lin socks sent me a pair.  Very nice!  She also sent me some coupons for 10 (or maybe 20%) off on socks.  If you are looking for some bike/running socks let me know and I can pass on the coupon.

Will do my prone tonight and will run tonight instead of tomorrow night.  Will be cold (for here at least) so will bundle up but I like cold weather running so it should be good.

Happy Holidays!

I'm in for the 12 days of Christmas!

I have a fake tree....love real but I like to have my tree up for a while. Our tree is loaded with ornaments the kids have made or chosen.  I love Christmas!!!

We had a snow day Monday already and a 2 hour delay today!!  Woo Hoo!!

I've been having fun running in the ice and snow.  My son put short screws in the bottoms of an old pair of running shoes and they work great!!  My brother gave me that idea!

And...I really don't have any of my Christmas shopping finished!!  But I'll get it done.

Billy....sorry about your injury....hope you heal quickly!

Are you sure that isn't really Gary doing the plank in that picture???????  Wink

Injury didn't stop me from my 2 miles this morning!   2 miles done, plank done and no, it isn't Gary, I have seen him without his shirt and it isn't pretty!

Got to the pool yesterday, did a 500m swim and then my 1st Day of Christmas challenge. Lunchtime I'll be out to do my run for the 2nd day of Christmas challenge. Word yet on what we will be doing for Day 3?

The Saint John river which runs through the middle of Fredericton reached record high levels yesterday flooding parts of the city, cutting off access to several areas, etc. Waters are receeding today but extensive damage reported. Not uncommon in the spring but certainly not normal in mid December!

Hey all!
did 2 miles last night and a plank.  Will do the plank tonight (yes I am reversing the two).

For the official record that is not me in the picture.  Despite what Billy thinks he saw (when peaking into my shower) I am much better looking than that.Tongue out

Ride and swim today along with the plank.

Tomorrow. Three full squats (perfect form) with weights or not. Then the run and the plank. You can do the stuff in any order. Just get it done. It gets harder as it stacks up. Day 12 is a 12 mile ride inside or out. That is the only ride since some will be travelling. You can do day 12 anytime over Christmas weekend.

I completed day 2 of the challenge.  I ran outside when I got home from school.  Then did my 1 minute plank and my oldest son does that with me too.  But he thinks a minute isn't long enough...but it's fine for me. LOL  I'm thinking we will have a snow day again tomorrow!! YAY!!

Ok Billy so you are sure it isn't Gary in that picture. hmmm...so Billy...are you a creeper or a peeper!  LOL

Well Gary...I guess to settle it after all you will have to post a picture of you doing the plank.  Wink

I set out to do my 2 miles this morning - I was gonna walk it, because I don't want to overdo things... and it was Pouring! If I was running, it wouldn't have been as much of a problem, but I didn't want to go walk out in the cold rain....  Maybe later tonight I'll get my walk in...

Have a good day everyone!
