I agree - it's me, not the shoes or the pedals. And I find the road shoes more comfortable than the mountain bike shoes, actually. I got really bad hot spots with the mtb shoes.

And I too should take a maintenance course. Good idea! ;-)
I have Zinn and the Art of Road Bike Maintenance, but it's not gonna do me any good when I'm way out in the boonies with a flat, is it.

So what's on tap today, peeps?

I am going to the gym, meeting my trainer for a good weights workout. She's a competetive swimmer so is showing me all kinds of stuff to make my swimming stronger. Why, oh why, can't she be a competetive cyclist?!? lol ... but I'm going early to run on the tread before she arrives, and she's gonna put me through some intervals. YAY!
Then home to study study study, play with the dog, then out to drinks and dinner with an old co-worker.

You know - I cannot express enough how terribly happy I am that I resigned from Law Enforcement. It seems my old co-workers are going through such a hard time right now, we lost a close colleague in Afghanistan a few weeks ago, have been lambasted in the media lately for silly little things, and now I'm watching some good friends struggle with the aftermath of a horrible multiple murder/suicide ... along with other daily stuff, homicides, stabbings, chases, the brutality of the job, etc ...
I feel bad for them - but honestly my first thought is "thank gawd that's not my problem anymore" ... self-preservation, I guess.

Wow, what a good job.....to leave.

Today my son is home from school. He was up at 4:00am claiming he couldn't sleep(he ended up in our bed so guess who didn't sleep in the end!) so I'm keeping him home cos he'll be way too tired to get anything out of school today. There goes my run. But we'll charge the Nintendo DS and drag him to the pool so I can get a swim in.

I can't miss my swim. I went to check out the local Tri club swim training on Wednesday and I'lll join them next week but it's going to be very challenging for me. I have to do it tho' cos I don't think I'll advance if I don't-I get too bored swimming on my own. I need someone to boss me round.

Have a good day all.

I had an interesting ride this evening, to say the least.

I have chronicled it illustriously in my blog.

Hey folks - anyone have any fun plans for the weekend? I am FINALLY doing my first sprint of the season on Sunday. (April race was pouring rain and I canned it) Looks like the weather is going to be good too and the outdoor pool has magically risen to 75 degrees! Hooray! I have two BBQs that afternoon and have to find time tomorrow to make something for both - yikes! Bringing a baked good to one, and unsure yet as to what I will be bringing to the other. AND I'm going to dinner with my sis that night - that's a LOT of food!

It's been a stressful, long, week of work.  ~14 hours yesterday with auditors.  One potty break.  I haven't been able to sleep well and tweaked my neck night before last and now the pain is spreading to my back and shoulders   I have a duathlon w/my tri goup tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. and my first OWS on Sunday.  I hope I can do them.

My house is also a freakin' disaster w/my extra work hours this week, so I'll have to get going on that project as well.  I am looking forward to my 6 year old's first hockey game tomorrow night!

bcart1991 - 2008-05-28 5:53 PM  Quick question - What shoes & pedals is everyone using?

I had foot surgery and after walking around in a surgical boot for 12 weeks my ankle got very weak.  I'm still in PT for that (and my foot).  Oh, the point of my story was.....(sorry, very tired) my PT is a triathlete and suggested the Speedplay zero pedals since I can move my foot around as I get sore around my ankle when I'm stuck in one position.  So I got those--the pink ones.

I have cheap Pearl Izumi tri shoes that I'll be replacing soon.  I bought them when my foot was still really swollen knowing that I'd be replacing them with a smaller size.  Does anyone have any suggestions for my new shoes???

It WILL be over soon - and it will get better. ;-)

Have fun at your du, and your OWS! You can do them, of course you can! Take some advil first, though, just in case.

I don't have tri shoes yet, but I REALLY want the Specialized Tri-Vents (for Women) - they are sexy and they also match my bike Oh, and they fit me too, of course

Very important question:  What color are they?

(I saw some purple Specialized ones I liked)

Silver with purple-detailing. Probably the ones you saw. The heel loop has purple flowers on it. My bike is a white and purple Specialized, hence my reasoning for wanting the shoes Until I upgrade to a tri-bike in a few years. Then the shoes won't match, but oh well

Oooohhh!! Me likey shoes!! I've been looking for shoes and pedals to replace my ridiculous configuation. The specialized look very cool....and FAST! I'll have to have a bake sale to pay for them, though. I've never paid more than $125 for shoes and those were my running shoes!

Yes, they're a little pricey, but when you still have them 10 years from now and they're going strong, they're more than worth it.

I finally bought new road & mtb shoes this year. My last pairs were bought in 1996 and 1999.

Oh, I don't mind the price - eventually. I just can't afford them right now, and I have $140 road shoes that I bought last year when I got my bike and they work just fine in transition. I'm not winning my AG or anything, so I don't really NEED to cut the extra seconds from my transition time. They have them at my LBS so I am keeping an eye out to see if they have any good coupons or sales any time soon. They just had a $10 off of $50 or more, but on $165ish, $10 is not enough of a savings for me right now.

I just got the inside scoop on pedals and shoes: Shimano 105 pedals and the Specialized Trivents are the the way to go according to the "expert" in the cube next door.

I MUST POSSESS THEM!!!

I figure the $ is worth the minutes shaved off my bike time from struggling with stupid cages and numb feet!!

Yeah - maybe in a month or two, I can get them. Just had to drop $75 that I wasn't planning on spending on the vacuum I allegedly "broke", according to psycho-roommie....arg. And I still have to register for another race or two fairly soon.

I feel absolutely sick. I have just realized there is a grammatical error on my business cards! ... and I've already handed out a whole bunch of them!!!

It's minor ... it's in my slogan ... my slogan is "Love Your Body" ...

The printer has printed "Love your Body" ...

Is that such a huge deal? It will definately be fixed for next printing - but ... what do I do with the 200 cards I currently have? ... toss 'em? Or continue to hand them out?

I mean, if I didn't notice it isn't that noticeable - I am the queen of perfect grammer (do not judge me by my BT posts, please). And I had sent a copy of the proofs to a few people for advice - one of them being my business consultant - and no one else picked up on it either.

So ... thoughts? Am I just being too absolutely anal????!!!!!

that stinks on the vacuum...you'll get the shoes! It's still early in the season. Do you have bike shoes you can wear in the meantime? I'm so new to biking, I'm still wearing my Skechers!

Oh yeah, I got shoes and the clipless pedal system a couple of weeks after I got the bike last year. I have road shoes that I've used and they work fine. I just want pretty, fast tri-shoes!

And the vacuum is SO mine now...so I will not have to buy one until it dies.

Trina, TBH I wouldn't worry about the grammar and if anyone asks say it's a style thing to have the two capitals bordering the lower case. I think people just wont notice in reality.

I just found out my partner for the San Francisco marathon has to drop out due to injury. Not sure how I feel about it yet, but I'm leaning toward relief. I just got my summer back! And now, I can focus on nailing down the swim and bike this year. That's a definate plus. And I just saved buckets of money on the trip out to the coast, so the shoes and pedals are even closer to being in my hot little hands. Hate to bail on a committment, though. I was half way through the training. But it just wouldn't have the same without her and I have so much on my plate this year. I guess everything works out for the best.

Now, I need more stuff to put into my goals section!

Agreed - I think you could get away with it this time as a style choice. For the next batch, though, be sure and correct it.
