I managed 9.36 miles today. Still a bit sore from the race on Sunday and had to force myself out the door. The run today put me over 200 miles for the month, so I have less than 25 to go. I should be able to reach my goal in a few days.

Keep running horses!

Ran yesterday, not today..I am just too sore. Have a 10 mile trail run this Sunday. It'll be the farthest I've ran EVER!

Nice 'n easy 8 miler this evening after work. It will put me well over my goal. Then tomorrow, I have another 4ish miles. Should I change my goal? Up it to 70/75, maybe?

Weather was nasty today! Temp was mid 30s with a 20-25 mph wind and gusts to 40. I managed 9.54 miles but the several miles into the headwind were not fun at all. It was HTFU time. Just keep the legs moving and press on.

I need to adjust to these conditions as it is common during the next several months. It's always a shock at first, but after a while it becomes somewhat easier to deal with. The wind seems to suck the energy out of me when it's cold. I think my body starts using energy to keep warm, leaving me with less for running.

Sorry that you're not getting better.

Keep in mind for this challenge you don't need to run. You can walk, water run, or use an ellitical. Getting in a mile or two of walking every day will put you much closer to reaching your goal. Walking may even help get the blood flowing and speed recovery for your aching muscles, plus if your goal was minutes based instead of miles, walking takes lots more time and will get you to the goal faster.

Just something to consider.

Hey HH, sorry I have been scarce. Have had four midterms in the last week. Had my last one last night so hopefully life can get back to normal. I have still been running, though, and look on track for this months goals, woohoo! How is everyone else doing?

my dear horsies

i suck, i'll admit it

i was doing the run thing every day at lunch and loving it.  then last tuesday i decided to rest at lunch instead.  i have not run since.  i'm not sure i'm going to make my goal because the increased ragweed and such has brought my asthma to a redonkulous level and i can barely get through a night sleeping, let alone a workout.

not sure what else i can say.

regretfully,

I've exceeded my goal. 8 miles last night put me at 66 miles. I have 3-4 miles more tonight. "That was easy."

One Two word words for you: Neti pot

http://www.himalayaninstitute.org/Netipot/NetiPotGateway.aspx

I thought it was some weird new age gimmick...my allergies have decreased significantly since starting on it (January)...

Yeah, it looks disgusting, but not anymore disgusting than discussing runner's trots...

You can pick up generic versions at your local drug store for $14.  I make my own powder:

5 parts salt (non-iodized) to 1 part baking soda (brand new box)...use the same 'spoon' that came with the pot...

This sounds like a drug thread...powder, spoon...

I have to get the *drunk* bus home from work tonight but I've gotten myself into a routine of running my crazy dog around our neighbourhood. It's only a mile plus a bit so not too strenuous.  Right?

Here he is.  RUDY THE WONDERDOG! Only had him 2 months.
