Snow yesterday, snow today, and snow for the next three days in the forecast.  We have already almost doubled our annual snowfall for this area.  And January isn't even over yet.  We have been known to get big snow up until April. Sheesh! I need to go someplace warn for a while.  Instead of relaxing yoga before bed last night, I got to go out and.... shovel snow.  Yay!  OK I'm done ranting for now.  Thanks for listening.

^^^^ It's ok, I am sick of winter already.  I don't want to think what February is going to be like, although I do have a race in Tampa to look forward to.  Hey, maybe you should sign up for it?????  There are about 10 of us flying down there, all sick of winter!

Wish I could head to Tampa.  Sounds like fun.  Work won't allow right now.

Did a trial run of the race I am doing in a couple of weeks to get a feel for the equipment I will be using that day. Pool (obviously), spin bike and treadmill.  Times are 15 mins per piece of equip.  Distances are listed in my log. I'm looking for specific suggestions now from folks who have done short distance tri's for what I should be working on over the next couple of weeks.

For example:  treadmill interval training, speed work etc.  Spinning intervals? resistance training? I'm clueless at this point.  I've got the swim workouts from my logs in high school and college to fall back on, but I was never coached nor followed any regimented plan for any type of running or cycling.

Sure, you can hold the leash on the 4-yr old so he doesn't go bombing straight down the hill and into a tree...snow plow the whole time.  It's tough on the knees and hips.  Had fun though.

Was wondering if all of you would mind pm'ing me your personal email address. I have a handy little swimming helper that think might help if you need it.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Just finished a 18 mile trainer ride with a group of friends- what a blast.  If we could always have this much fun when we ride, no one would ever mind getting on the trainers.

Sorry I've been so quiet lately.  My hubby is taking 2 online college classes so it's been hard to get on the computer.  Anyway, hope everyone is having a great weekend.  I have a 7 mile run with a friend tomorrow morning then I'll be rooting for Arizona!

Still sick today.  Hopefully I'll get out tomorrow.  I hate winter with kids.

Going to get on the trainer for 30-45 minutes...then it will be a day to knit and watch football!  Of course once the game is over I get to start the painful months of longing for the return of football...at least triathlon season will give me something to take my mind off of it!

I so agree.  At least it's a sign that warmer weather will be coming soon.

Go Steelers!

Not my place, another BT'er though.  All the folks there are MI members.  Great group of people.  A few pretty hard core athletes too.  Several Ironmen (and women) in the group.

A friend and I ran 7 miles today around Post.  It was a slower pace than what I normally run but it felt good to not kill myself for once!  We have an 8 mile booked for next Saturday!!

Football isn't QUITE over for me just yet...we have tix to the Pro Bowl next Sunday!

Wish I could go to the Pro Bowl.  Wish I lived in Hawaii.  But hey, it is 45F today.

Feeling better today.  Went to the Y to do my run and all the treadmills were taken.  I couldn't believe how busy it was.   Were they trying to work off their SuperBowl eatings or actually starting their resolutions?  Anyway, there was an elliptical available so I took that instead.  After finishing that I went across town to the pool (which was not busy at all) and did a 1.2k continuous swim.  My neck is a little stiff now but overall it was good.  Glad I did it.  Also glad that this cold wasn't as bad as the last one.

Here's a question for you.  How do you entertain your brain while swimming?  I usually start the swim thinking "what the heck am I doing?" type things.  Sometimes I think about technique, or list out what else I need to do that day (but then forget the list later on).  There's not much scenery at the bottom of the pool.  Just curious.

Hope everyone's having a good start to the week.

Got a run in today...it was nice outside.

I sometimes count my laps in Spanish.  A lot of times I'm focusing on a specific technique or a drill so...my mind is engaged.

But a piece of lint floating thru the air does that for me......most days.
