wgraves7582 - 2010-07-14 10:04 AM Swim and run in Baton Rouge yesterday.

Same planned for today but only at my local Y instead of a new one but I get jealous of other facilities when I travel - indoor and outdoor pool - sweet!!!!

Good morning, Bill!  I'm with you on that.  My Y is pretty much a dump.  But it's right across the street from work, so the convenience outweighs the oldness, dirtiness, smelliness and grossness.

We have a newer one but I get envious of certain aspects.  I certainly like our wellness center but I want a 2nd lap pool for our facility!!!  Is that selfish?

That's not selfish at all. I really like our gym but I do have a dream list of things that would be nice. 1-Weight room is too small for the number of people that use it. 2- The locker room could use an overhaul. Its getting gross. 3-Another lap pool. I went the other evening and swam in the outdoor pool. 8 lanes and they had anywhere from 1-4 people per lane. Its been especially busy since school is out. Still, its the largest (except for the weight room) and cheapest facility that I am aware of and its in pretty good shape.
BTW-They are talking about an overhaul of the facility next year. Larger weight room is on the list, among other things.

The Y in my town is planning a 6 million dollar expansion.  With all of that, would you believe we STILL won't have racquetball courts?  zero.  none at all.  What do we get?  The $6-million project will include expanded and improved parking, a new gymnasium, day care area, larger fitness center, new locker rooms and a "tween" center, as well as expanded office space, meeting rooms and multipurpose room.  Yeah, no mention of updating or improving the pool.....

Well, as old and yucky as our Y is here in downtown Wilmington, DE, I will say that they have 2 really nice RB courts (in addition to about 5 or 6 crappy RB courts).  I love RB!

pdbman - 2010-07-14 12:14 PM I'm feeling really guilty today. I didn't get my run in yesterday. I had some stops to make on my way home last night and by the time I got home, I spent some time with my son and then it was too late. I figured time with my son is more important since he is going off to school in 36 days.

Don't feel guilty, Paul... family time trumps exercise time!  My wife is getting a little peeved at my exercise regimen.  I'm a morning person and get up anywhere from 5-5:30 and bike or run.  Add in a lunchtime workout and by 9:30pm, I'm completely ready to crash.  Since our kids are on summer vacation, they don't go to bed until 9 or 9:30... that allows for very little alone time.  It hasn't become a big deal... yet.  But she's made a few comments. Undecided

Do you mean alone time or ALONE TIME?  If it is the later, you probably need some COJ therapy...

I think I mean alone time (lower case).  The type of alone time where you just sit and watch TV together.  If training was infringing on my (UPPER CASE) ALONE TIME, I think I'd have to quit the sport. Wink

Not really sure what is today's workout holds for me. I had to be in the office early for a meeting and its really thrown things off. I had a late night last night and with the early morning I wasn't able to put things together for a lunch workout. I'm also feeling like I could really use a nap. We'll have to see how things work out.

Not much into RB. Last time I remember playing, my dad came away from the game with a HUGE bruise on his leg. I put a lot of power into that shot (I promise it wasn't intentional).

9 mile run this morning.  It was somewhat cool out but VERY humid.  Took an extra hilly route and it kicked my butt.  But I got the mileage in.  I've moved from Overachiever to Slacker in one week.  That's because of my failure to update the spreadsheet. Embarassed  I will do that when I get a chance.  No workout this afternoon... I'm sore after that run.

So I was listening to the radio about Mel Gibson threatening to burn down the house because his girlfriend was "withholding" because she was tired or whatnot.  All I could think was that if every person burned down the house when they weren't getting pizza delivery, then most cities would look like Dresden after WWII....    Welcome to the real world Mr. Gibson...

Most people learn at a very early age that temper tantrums don't work. Others never learn.

Yeah, I'm still a slacker.  I was going to go to a yoga class last night, but last minute went to dinner and a movie instead.  The movie got out late, so I wasn't able to get up for my make-up yoga class this morning either.  Tonight I have plans with friends, so I will be continuing to slack off.

I did get another bike commute done today, but too bad that only goes toward my TdF goals!

The blood donating didn't go as well as hoped.  For the first time, got stuck in each arm.  Didn't get done until late and it would not have been 12 hours before doing "strenuous" activity.  Have bball tonight.  Bringing the kiddos for the first time.  Not sure if i want to try repeats on the road by my house - it's a bit torn up and it'll be close to dark by the time I could start.  Maybe I'll just HTFU, shut up and do it....
