BunnyB - 2007-10-11 5:35 PM That's awesome, Yanti! I can't wait until I will one day cross the finish line of my first half mary (baby steps ... baby steps). I've completed 5k, 10k, and 15k races in the past, but I've never done a half. I have to agree. It's be awesome to getting to know you guys better. Prior to this challenge, the only folks on our team that I knew were Terri (who is my best bud in real life) and Beth who I'd gotten to know recently in the Weight Watchers thread in the Tri'ing for Weight Loss forum. I feel very fortunate to have "met" you all through this team.

You will get there, no doubt Miss Bunny, and you're doing it the smart way.

That's one of the things that makes the challenge thread so much fun.  Only sucky part is geography and time keep most of us from ever actually meeting up  This is my second challenge (TdF was first), I missed the August swim one which was probably for the better since my schedule went out the window (in NY for a race then visited family, was home 3 days and went back to NY because my dad suddenly got worse and died a little sooner than we had anticipated)

The run was pretty hideous

Yanti, I give you lots of extra credit for getting out and running when you feel so lousy!  Too bad we can'tlog that in for some miles for our AWOL team member

Chrissy, I vote for dropping the AWOL party form our roster.  We're all working too hard to get pulled down by a slacker

I've met some of the finest people and athletes ever doing these challenges, and I'm so delighted this team's no exception.

BTW Judi (zipp1), Chrissy (wurkit_gurl) and I (me ) were in the Tour de France challenge together.  Both have been tremendous inspirations, and Judi has been especially kind and helpful to me in light of her own troubles -- my dad's quite ill right now.

Keep posting, all. What a great journey ... and cliche but true ... "The journey is the reward."

Yanti - sorry to hear dad isn't doing well. He'll be in my thoughts.

Judi - even though I didn't "know" you then, my condolences of the loss of your father.

Many thanks, dear Bunny. I took a trip to Indonesia last month (where my folks are) and while it was painful and sad, both the time I was able to spend with my dad and then the fun and even training I managed wound up making it one of the best times of my life. I really should put some albums of that trip together, the BT folks were great about inspiring me and staying in touch.

thanks for the kind thoughts.  He looked so bad that week we spent visiting family that we knew the end was in sight but both DH and I felt he had a few weeks left as opposed to the few days that he actually did.  Not that we didn't mourn his  death, but I'm glad he isn't suffering any more (metastatic lung cancer)

Alright, I am imposing a self moratorium on posting after 10:30pm. What I wrote about obese people came out a lot harsh. My apologies if I offended anyone or hurt anyones feelings.

Alright topic change.

Girls, I love the tattoos. Ive got one that you can see here.

http://good-times.webshots.com/album/553361375TfryPm?vhost=good-tim...

This was my reward for the first 50 lbs lost and it means a lot to me.

Another random topic change

I did something really silly yesterday. I let a buddy convince me to do the MS 150 Houston to Austin. It's actually closer to 180 over 2 days. The farthest I have ridden previously is 28 miles so this is going to be something entirely new.

Nice tat! Haunting images, actually ... native American?

I don't think anyone here took offense. After all, you're preaching to the choir here ... we're the ones who realize there's a problem and are doing something about it, including this awesome challenge!

Ok, so here's my pic - I have to say this is a daring step forward for me.

Granted, I did have this pic posted as my avatar when I first became brave enough to have one, but........................it was in a really, really tiny space

finish line

In the spirit of teamwork and individualism and feeling great about myself and my team - I am posting my pic.

And, I will be honest with you all.  I am proud of myself and what I have accomplished.  I feel strong and beautiful!

My goal is to have younger women say - damn!  I hope I look that good when I'm her age - so far, so good on meeting my goals!

You are an awesome team and I am honored to be a part of it!

Yup, I was trying to give her a few days this week as benefit of the doubt, but she will not added to our tally this week and will be dropped. So her 0% will not count against us!

P.S. I think we should make a good run on trying to overtake the post count on the Werewolves' thread. We're sneaking up, so shhhhh. That way, we would wind up winning this challenge and DOUBLY p'ing them off ...

After all ... there are some pretty devious, aggressive players here (yep, that's you! ... yeah, YOU!) ... we newbies were seriously underestimated during the TdF challenge and we blew them off the course ... Judi, Chrissy and I are the queen of sneak attacks, and it looks like the rest of you have some scary game, too.

Native American flavored anyway. To me, it embodies my attitude. The wolf, while a predator, is also a quiet force in nature. He leads his pack (family), keeps them safe, provides for them. He'll avoid conflict if necessary, but if you push him.. you'd better back the F up. It's really hard to see in these pictures, but the eyes of the wolf are blue. I'll let you guess what color mine are.

LOL - yep, there sure IS a lot of blue there, but you look GREAT!

Morgan - nice tat! Your inkslinger did a great job on the detail work!

I headed over to the gym after work tonight, as per norm lately which is a GOOD thing! I rode 4 miles on the bike and then hopped on the treadmill for a 30 minute hill walk and then a cool down. That's another 1.7 miles for me which puts me over the 50% completed mark.

Thanks! I actually prefer going at night. I am SO not a morning person. That's the roughest part for me about doing organized walks. I have to get up so stinkin' early. LOL

It's funny, I struggled with that for a long time, and my natural inclination is still to be a night owl, but triathlon kind of cured me of it. I routinely wake up at 5:30-7:00 these days, AND I get to set my own schedule ... so it's really by choice!

Of course, it helps that there are yummy boys everywhere breakin' a sweat ... both just around and then AT the workouts ... mmmmm I'm crazy!
