I'm still trying to figure out how those of you with little ones find the time to work and train. I'm in a gym minimum 40 hours a week and still have a hard time finding the time

If there's a secret trick will someone let me know.

Well, gotta get to work... R-ball Tournament draws and last day for youth basketball registration(aka "Dads coaching the next NBA prodigy") UGH!

How old are your kids? I found that as my kids get older it gets easier. They are 6 and 8 now and I feel comfortable leaving them home for about 25-30 mins or I will run way early in the morning before they are even awake and then can go for an hour. I just put a note on the TV saying that I'm running in case they wake up. But last year, the longest I would go was 15 mins leaving my kids alone. I don't have any advice for younger kids though except maybe asking a neighbor if they can come over for a half hour or something. I just can't wait for 2009 summer because they will be 8 and 10 and I will be able to train for much longer periods. I might actually be able to do a marathon that year!

Imagine whats going to happen when he reappears!

Hi Team!!! (thats not my team!)

I hereby declare Cat an official member of our team! (I've got the master spreadsheets. So I can do this. )

You don't mind doing your workouts twice, do you? Once for each team....

Well, come on back here so we can talk to your face.

But if you're not careful, I'll make you a member of this team, too. See my previous post about Cat's new membership. If she's not here right now, it's probably because she's doing a Double Workout at the gym!

No legs from me this month. I was a member of the WINNING team! Go Apples!

Morning Twisnibbens (TWSNBN)!!! Rise and shine...time for a workout!!! 31 degrees out...I think I'll be running 6.5 this morning...

Gah.... A "morning person." One of those people who become bright and cheery the minute the sun peeks over the horizon.

I, on the other hand, am on BT too late at night to ever become a morning person. It's only noon. I'll get a workout in later - like when the sun goes down.

How's the run go, btw?

I'll get a shoulder workout and either bike or walk/run in this afternoon. The shoulder workouts are because my shoulder has been killing me. I probably overdid it during the September and October, and I've been paying for it ever since. I'm trying to strengthen the opposing muscles... I need to get better this month so I can beat Beth do well in the December Swim Challenge next month.

Okay, got my workout in for today. 2.5 run and 3 bike. On track for the run and may have to bump up the bike for the month if I keep this up. I had planned for the 30 miles to be a day trip the day after Thanksgiving on the Silver Comet trail with hubby.

I'm excited about the run cause I walked 2 minutes and then ran 12 minutes for a whole mile of running. Then walked a minute, run 3 and did reps of that till I got the 2.5 miles in. My goal is to be able to run a 5K on New Years Eve. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...(Little Engine that Could).

Kendra,

That's awesome! Isn't this a big improvement over where you were a month ago?

(That's thanks to Cat's Run Challenge, I bet!)

Dee

Yes, a month ago, before the October challenge, I was strictly a walker. I decided after my Sept sprint that to increase my times I would need to learn to run. Along came the Oct challenge and I started. I can walk a 14 minute miles, but now I can run a 12 minute mile. So if I can keep this up and run the full 5K I should be able to knock 6 minutes off of my race times on the run portion.

That would be really great! You've got about two months to get there.

Adiós Twisnibbins. Pensaré en usted cuando paso por la retirada symptons de la BT. Para aquellos de ustedes en el frío, enviaré a pensamientos calientes su camino. Hasta la vista en una semana.

My take-home message from the above:
Kendra went on vacation and didn't take her wonderful team with her.

(Have a great time!)

Umm...is 'LOL' allowed in Twisnibbin (TWSNBN)?

Well, now. That's a good question....
It's not TAN. So I'm thinking it's OK.
I'll go with majority opinion though.
Ya know --> Twisnibbin is MUCH easier to say than TWSNBN.

Ok, I guess I have no idea what this means. Is there rules against LOL? I posted in TAN twice, but I can't keep up with the darned thing. Hopefully I didn't break any rules! What's the deal with LOL?

Nope, no rules against LOL here. You can LOL all you want.

It's been banned in TAN though. That's the only rule in TAN - you can't LOL there. You can *snerk* all you want to though.

I think Beth has LOL'd in TAN though....

I'm still trying to figure out how those of you with little ones find the time to work and train. I'm in a gym minimum 40 hours a week and still have a hard time finding the time

If there's a secret trick will someone let me know.

How old are your kids? I found that as my kids get older it gets easier. They are 6 and 8 now and I feel comfortable leaving them home for about 25-30 mins or I will run way early in the morning before they are even awake and then can go for an hour...

Mine are still too little to leave alone (4.5 and 18mo)  Things aren't bad when my work schedule is slow, then I just clockout and workout.  Unfortunately, I'm a workaholic   Hubby and I are supposed to be alternating early morning workouts, but getting used to getting both kids out the door by 8am is the hard part for both of us.

Maybe this issue is why I've noticed so many training once they're in the 40's and not 30's.

Laughing

So there is life after kids.... Ahh!

One of the original TANners doesn't like LOL or any derivative of it - so it just sort of became an unspoken rule - So, when in TAN

We should write a book. Each chapter should be a story that starts out: "You know you're addicted to BT when......" I vote this as Chapter 1. LOL

sparco - 2007-11-02 10:03 PM Umm...is 'LOL' allowed in Twisnibbin (TWSNBN)?

One of the original TANners doesn't like LOL or any derivative of it - so it just sort of became an unspoken rule - So, when in TAN

*snerk*

Ok, this is where you educate me. LOL still means laughing out loud to me, is that right?

What does snerk stand for? Yup, don't want to stay clueless to long with these terms.

Also why would LOL be banned?

By the way I didn't get to go for our bike ride. The Santa Anna's are kicking back up and were back on standby. So much for my weekend off.

to be honest, I'm not sure exactly what *snerk* means, I may have to defer to Spokes on that one - I think it's kind of a snicker, sarcastic laugh type of thing

LOL means laughing out loud to me as well  - (or does it mean lots of love - kidding - lol)

no banning LOL here!

in fact I think we love to LOL

Wow!  You give me hope, woman!  Of course I must REALLY be in bad shape if my combined running and walking was a 15 min mile.  Maybe I can give myself a break for my 28 in legs and the difference in altitude.

I'm still trying to figure out how those of you with little ones find the time to work and train.  I'm in  a gym minimum 40 hours a week and still have a hard time finding the time

If there's a secret trick will someone let me know.

Well, gotta get to work... R-ball Tournament draws and last day for youth basketball registration(aka "Dads coaching the next NBA prodigy"  UGH!

Shoot, don't feel bad.  I can walk a 13 1/2 m/m, but my run time is more like 14-14 1/2.  I'm determined to figure out this running stuff..... (or die trying...)
