I'm in for the double.  I never thought I would say this but I am most worried about the running miles.

So... here is my dilemma and question. I want to do the Jan challenge, but here is my situation: I am on week 2 of P90X and about to start Bikram Yoga for 2 months. Can't postpone P90X because HIM training follows right after, and Bikram was a Groupon deal and has to be done by APril, so same thing-don't want to tack it on top of HIM hours (start in March).

I knew that Yoga (shooting for 2-3 times a week), P90X (6 days a week, 70-80 minute sessions) and running was all I could handle, so my Lifetime membership is on flex right now (meaning I can't go until i reactivate it), I figured no sense in paying for it until I can use it again.. SO.....

Running part of the challenge won't be an issue, as I'll be running anyhow. But biking and swimming-problem. Swimming is not doable, obviously, since no access to the gym for now, and biking I could technically do (could borrow a trainer), but frankly, I think Bikram, P90X and running 3 times a week will have me pretty stretched as is.

Any chance I can substitute bike and swim for some other activities i'll be doing?

Lena do the run part and your other stuff. You have plenty going on. This is for those of us who are bored and need more to do.

Hey folks, we are going to have a couple of new peoe lurking about the group so play nice with one another for a day or so. And if someone new posts, well, treat 'em nice. They are both training for their first IM in 2011. I told them we might have a bit of advice.

Also - I have seen no January challenge numbers posted. Am I the only one doing anything? MAV- I'll kick your tail if you dared me into the double and your sitting on the couch eating Bon bons. But I also would admit that would be funny.

Hello everyone. I suppose I am one of the lurkers. Well one can oly lurk so long. I figure i'd go a head and intorduce myself.

The name's Mark. I am a 42 year old engineer living in Katy, TX. I lived most of my life in and around Orlando FL. I moved to TX about 3 1/2 years ago for a job. Unfortunately. it looks like that job may be ending so who knows where I will end up.

I started doing tris in 2005 with my first spint. Since then I have raced at least once every year. Some years more than others but at least one spint every time. 2009 was my most active year. I completed 5 sprints including my first top 10 age group finish and I also finished my first Olympic. 2010 was an off year as I was completing my move to TX, buying a house and dealing with some injury issues.

Now its a new year and my mind is focused and my body is healthy. I'm ready to jump into something stupid. What could be more stupid than spending $750 on a race i have no chance of winning. but like Forrest said, "Stupid is as stupid does." IMTX here I come!

This looks like a pretty fun and motovating group. And i'm gonna need lots of fun and motovation.

Welcome Mark.  It's an awesome group.  Glad we have another engineer in the group too.

Lena, I will eat my words and be nice to you if you get a personal best in your HM or Marathon this year.  Until then............Muhahahah

well, then, prepare for a meal
You HAVE seen my marathon times, right? I don't think one could run much slower lol.. there were my first two (and of course, CHicago time I gave up for the group, so that one is not even worth mentioning) and I was in a total survival mode. Now, I know what to do (in a large part, thanks to you!!!!), and plan to better my time big time. and next year. and next year. and next year.....until i am old and feeble. Then I might do an old people wheelchair marathon.

You know, I thought the same thing back when i first started. I thought i'll just do some sprints and work my way up and then I'll do a full IM when I'm 40. Then 40 came and went and I still hadn't done one yet....Oh s*&t, time to re-acess....

Mark, I really think the bug is going to bite me kinda soon... every longer (than previously) done distance I do, i love. Ran a bunch of half-marathons, loved them. Decided to do a marathon, was scared to death, ran first one last May, LOVED it. Did a bunch of Sprint tris, decided to do first Oly last Aug, LOVED it. Now training for a HIM... i am afraid I see where the pattern is going lol

Plus, having Bryan, Amy and Marianne who have done an IM is such an inspiration, and having more people training for one is going to just want me to do it even more...
