I went back last night and read page 67. I strongly encourage you all to go back from time to time and randomly pick a page and read it. It is amazing how far we have all come. Mark - the history is required reading for you.

Hey all! Awesome numbers, everyone. I'm yet to start running since... mmm a while back.... but tomorrow, planning on going out for a 3-5 miler outside. I think i'll go during the day (as opposed to early morning), 26 high sounds nice compared to probably 10-12 degrees in the early am.

I got a chance to introduce my neighbor to P90X. I was mean and had us do Plyometrics *evil* She was.. ahem.. tired. But, she loved it and wants to do more workouts during the week together (she lives next door, literally) to get into good shape for her June wedding.

So, I told her that even though I do my P90X routine early am while the kids are asleep (VERY hard to get any kind of a planned anything with a 5 yo and a 20 mo at home), I would do another workout with her in the evening, 2-3 times a week, whatever she wanted. This will be a nice challenge for myself, and I know that in order for me to really lose the weight, I really need to step it up.

She is also registered to run the Chicago Half Marathon with my Team World Vision group in Sept, so she is going from no activity at all to now a registered race, P90X a few times a week and even wants to go running outside in this cold weather with me tomorrow! Go, Deirdre! Maybe I should invite her here, and see if she'll join in?

I did invite my SIL, but no response yet. She says she still plans to do Racine, but at the same time, they plan to move to Maryland in the summer, so I am not exactly sure what all she is going to do.

Lena - thats awesome!

Mav - while I agree with you about the peeing in the wetsuit I prefer to do it when I am wearing it in the water. Tongue out

LRR - I went back to page 206, wow those were the days!

Mark - with LRR you have to start low and let him push you further.  You should have said can I do an Oly distance?

Okay, closet is almost finished.  The hardwood floor looks awesome.  Now I am ready for beer and food.

Gary, too funny!!

Where is BillyTheIronman?

Mark, I'm so envious of your temps now! though would not be of the summer temps. My hot weather HMs are always full of swearing at the heat.
And Gary is right, you should have played ignorant with the challenge.. on a second thought, nah, you are good.

Morning everyone. Rest day for me today. Here are my month-to-date totals.

Monthly totals:
S:  5100.00 Yd - 2h 10m
B:  82.90 Mi - 5h 48m 23s
R:  9.34 Mi - 1h 40m 05s

Doing a 2xIM challenge may not be that bad after all. I'll for sure get the swim and bike in. I am just lagging a little in the run and I only ran twice last week. I plan on starting up 3 running days next week.

It's funny. One of my nervous ticks I have before a race is to pee during my set-up before the race. I guess you could say doing these thing scares the crap out of me... but I never had a problem with... releaving myself...during races. After an incident I had training one day. I always make myself do No. 2 before I race so I have never had a problem with that either. Of course I have only done sprints and Olys. At the most they are only about 2.5 hours long.

For long course races I can inagine things being a little different. So say on the morning of an IM you take a nice pee and a healty crap. I would imagine your bowels are pretty cleared out. Would anything after that only be from what you consume during the race?

OK...so you bring this topic up...I shall answer.

During HIM and IM distance I drink one bottle per hour on the bike of infinit. ( stuff is gross, but it gives me the fuel I need) That being said...I am well hydrated and have to pee...I go when the spirit moves me so...I pee on my bike...rinse and repeat as necessary! I am very polite and I make sure no one is behind me. I also pee in the water before I get done with the swim so I am "empty" when I start on the bike. I know many who also pee as necessary on the run... I however, do not. Stopped twice during my IM. There were no prta potties on the run course of my first HIM so I just sat on someones grass. The run was through a neighborhood. I have one friend who sits on the ground and pees during transition...between the bike and the run.

I am sure there will be a lot of comments from others on this...I KNOW BRYAN DOES NOT PEE IN HIS WETSUIT!!!!!
But seriously, peeing is a sign of good hydration and should be a big consideration during the HIM or IM distance races. If you are not peeing you are not properly hydrated!!!!

My kids are entirely grossed out that their mother does this!!!! Embarassing my kids is one of my best attributes!!!!

I pee in my wetsuit during ironman. Not other distances. I usually use pee stops to stretch on the bike. My back tightens up so the chance to stretch is good for me. I have hit a portapotty on the runs. My races are usually urban. I don need a portapotty on most bike courses. They get outta town. As far as the number 2 voiding, I eat at least three hours before a race- therefore nature does her thing pre-start and I have been fortunate not to be bothered during a race. After the swim in IMFL and thhe salt water I drank, I thought very seriously about re-setting my stomach by the old finger down the throat trick. Upon further review, I should have, I think I could hav saved at least an hour.

Billy, they let me back in and I am not an Ironman like you!

They even let Gary back in now that he's out of the closet.

We can gang up on Lena together.  We might stand a chance that way!

I thought he was too until he posted that.  We will have to steal his popcorn now!

Ran 6 miles last night, longest run in a very long time and the knee feels fine!  Swam today, did 500m warm up with an avg 2:02/100m which for me is great.  Talking with the guy in the next lane, his 3rd month of swimming, having to take breaks at every 50m, etc.  Sounded so much like me back than, I guess I have progressed somewhat in my swimming.

Billy, come back.  She will be nice (well as nice as women are to us nice guys). You going to let that marathoner push you around? <start inspirational music here>  No I say!  Ironmen are too strong for that! <music crescendos and dies off>.

How did I become the bad guy here? HMPH.

Mark, is this popcorn 94% fat free or all buttery and junk? If it's buttery, and from an actual movie theater, I'll have to join Gary in taking it from you.. hey, we could all watch a movie with the popcorn! How about "The Spirit of the Marathon"? It's about Chicago and awesome!

left.right.repeat - 2011-01-10 2:08 PM Mark - I thought you were smart. Now I know you are. Pass the popcorn, please.

Be careful what you wish for. I have this popcorn delivered directlly from the theater itself. And I make the counter person do a 10 count before they stop pouring the butter. I need a plate to keep it from dripping on the floor. (Ugh, that sounds SO gross)

@Gary - Way to go on the run. I delt with a nagging injury for the first time last year and it isn't fun. Good to see you running pain free.

@Lena - Of course its fat free, well, it least it the type of fat that you don't digest and makes one prone to "Anal leakage"

@ Gary & Lena - you guys keep your grubby hand off my popcorn, you'll wind up with oil all over your hands.

Hey all.

Did pretty good yesterday. Got 2800Y in the pool and then I got in touch with my inner hamster and did 50 minutes on the treadmill. Not sure how that translates to miles but I guess it would be roughly 5 or so.

This morning just did some core workl and a little bit of strength.

I'm suppose to be biking tonight. Heh I doubt that's gonna happen. I feel a movie on the trainer is MUCH more likely.

Morning, people.

Nice workout, Mark!

I had a good day yesterday-Plyometrics (for P90X) and first speedwork session in ..ahem.. months. First run of the year, too. Here's what my training log reads ( I couldn't put it any more honestly this morning lol):
"Going downstairs and getting on that treadmill was not unlike pulling teeth. Without anaesthesia. I already did my P90X workout in the morning and my knees were still not very happy. I don't have knee issues, but they were grouchy. I know that doing Plyo and speedwork on the same day is probably pretty dumb (Plyometrics is very high intensity cardio), but I needed to have it done."

Hope DH will be home in time for me to go to Bikram Yoga tonight.

Hey all!
managed an easy swim yesterday and a ride last night.  Feeling good except work kept me up late again last night and starting to feel a little run down.

One quick question, about to renew my BT membership.  Currently at the Bronze level, any benefit to go up a level?
