She's just gifted (assuming she didn't dope) and probably was better just going by RPE. Its so sad we even have to say this about athletes. Some athletes like to go by feel no matter what. Its all about what work for you. I was one of the few that didn't believe Armstrong doped, and would never have suspected Chrissie. But someone pointed out that she just stopped at the top of her game and put doubt in my mind. It is kind of odd??? IDK. I listened to her give a talk in the Village at IMTX last year. She doesn't strike me as the stereotypical athlete. She has a ton of other interests that honestly it sounded to me like she placed before triathlon. Odd? Yeah, but she strikes me as odd. Scott-- I agree with your assessment. I think she's also super competative. She had other tihngs she wanted to do that wouldn't allow her to got at triathlon 100% so she decided to take a hiatus rather than giving trialthon less than 100%. |

Expert 1121 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED Thanks for the kind words. And Kelly I love you too. . It's actually not ITBS. The initial thought was ITBS but it has not gone away since last September. Unfortunately I've lost an entire year thinking it was ITBS. Recent EMG tests confirms some damage to the Peroneal nerve in left knee, right in the spot where you would think it was ITBS. Common cause is trauma to the knee, which is probably when I got slammed into the door. So I see the ortho again Monday to decide what's next, which may be cutting the nerve or trying to repair, otherwise I was told ill never run again without significant pain. Odd thing is, I don't have much of an issue on the bike. I feel it, but its bearable. |

She is a carb addict with a lucky metabolism. Morning everyone. Long day -- oral argument on a motion to dismiss in Massachusetts. Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED We do a vegan Thanksgiving meal (sometimes add a small turkey for our son) that is fabulous. Stuffed spaghetti squash, green beans with almonds, dressing, mushroom gravy, and sweet potatoes w/ cranberries. Tom does all the cooking, I do all the prepping. All the recipes are in Neal Barnard's Food for Life book. Fabulous book! I have always run the Thanksgiving half marathon in downtown Atlanta. But last year I didn't feel like driving all the way downtown so I convinced my friend to run around my house. I'm going to do that again this year, so maybe I'll help cook too. |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED I always get asked to make sweet potatoes. My family eats them every week, so I make them many different ways. I usually bake the sweet potatoes, mash them in the food processor with spices, and top them with brown sugar. I want to do something with pecans or cranberries this year, but my husband is opposed to the idea. He needs to pipe down, as he'll be reaching for the stuffing and not my sweet potatoes (old hat for him). I want to make a veggie too. Otherwise I'll be stuck with my MIL's gross Brussels sprouts. LOL I try to fill my plate with 1/2 veggies even on Thanksgiving. Do you have to make a turkey, Kelly? |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED How much sleep do you all feel that you need? How much sleep do you get? I need TONS of sleep. I would feel my best if I were to get at least 9 hours of sleep. IRL I get about 7, and that's broken sleep because we have at least 3 visitors during the evening, asking for tissues, water, comfort from nightmares, etc. Some nights I've only gotten around 6. I'm trying to be more disciplined lately, but that means crawling into bed at 9. Yuck! No adult time whatsoever! Just wondering if I'm the only one who feels deprived! |

Thanksgiving- Turkey (preferably deep fried), mashed taters, cornbread stuffing. Then there is the household cranberry arguement in my house. I am a cranberry sauce from real cranberries type of guy. Cindy thinks you need the ridges from the can to show you where to cut. WHAT?!?!?!?!
Sleep. I get 6-7 most nights. Not enough but it is what it is. REM sleep is the time your body recovers the best so it's uber important.
Bought a couple tri suits yesterday on sale. Like $170 marked down to $99. Got a small and a medium to see which fits best and will return the other.
I start training again Monday. Really intersted to see what workouts I have for the first training block. |

Extreme Veteran 863 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED I have a question....I did my Sunday long work out today because I have an all day work meeting then. It was supposed to be a rest day. It's been a long workout week (for me) and my legs are tired. I have a run for tomorrow and will take my rest day Sunday. I am afraid that sitting all day in this meeting I am going to get really stiff - I do have a pair of really tight compression leggings. Should I wear them Sunday - will that help with recovery from the week? Other suggestions? It is an 8 hour CE meeting.
I often am in bed by 9. There is no adult time in my house anymore as my older kids are still up. I have resorted to emailing my husband on topics I want to discuss since we rarely see each other during the week. He goes to his karate class at least 3 nights a week. I do best with at least 7 hours of sleep. |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 Part 2 - CLOSED Sleep deprived here. And no one's fault but my own because I do not have young kids. Just dogs, and once I go to bed they are sacked out all night. Although when the big one tries to sleep on our bed, and jams herself up against my back, that does disrupt my sleep. Anyway, I have no idea how many hours I need. I'd say probably about 7. But I'd guess I get closer to 5 or 6, interrupted. I'm always tired... |

In personal news Reagan's fever is gone. Has been for about 24 hours so I figure we're clear of this. Now to wait out the rash which has spread to her face. Cindy's family hasn't started planning what is happening for Thanksgiving or what we need to bring. They won't have any idea 'till Monday at the earliest. Really??? You expect people to bring food but won't let them know what until maybe the Monday before. Grrrrr. Should be a fun holiday with the anger Cindy has pent up towards her Mom. |
