Expert 1007 Hattiesburg, Mississippi | Subject: RE: Fighting Okra - September End of Summer Challenge Oh, BTW the dog will be fine! At the end of this week I head out for a long awaited trip to Delaware for a conference. It's really a symposium for folks who do boat building and stuff. I go every year and am on the national board. My folks also live in that area so I go an extra few days early and see them too. I drive up, as I have gear and boats to bring... nearly two days in my pick-up, but it's worth it! May not make my swimming goals for this month... but I am going to try and swim every day I can next week to get there! Ahhh, Sunday toppage! Edited by blujay65 2009-09-20 6:39 AM |

Champion 6225 | Subject: RE: Fighting Okra - September End of Summer Challenge hi ya teammies.... just buzzing through. my husband and i are off to take our bikes for a final inspection at the LBS before our 60 miler on Saturday. i went to the park early this am for an easy ride round the lake. i knew they were holding a 5K in the park. i met this family at a Team in Training Meeting - at the meeting they shared how their daughter Elora passed in 2006 from Luekemia, and theyve done a memorial 5K in her honor every year since. today was the ELORAPALOOZA (i love that, dont you?) after i did a loop on my bike, id 'stop in' at the race check-in....the atmosphere there was SO wonderful...i just made my eyes well up w/ tears. the horn sounded, and the race started and i followed the runners and walkers out on my bike and out onto the course. i dunno. there was something so healing/rejuvenating riding along side the participants in this race. ELORAs spirit was there, indeed. i wrote on my FB page.... some days are not to be rushed. today is one of those days. looking forward to a week of tapering.... have a happy everyone. stacieb ps. to read Eloras story....http://www.elorashope.com/ |

Champion 6225 | Subject: RE: Fighting Okra - September End of Summer Challenge its a quiet week for me.... two swim workouts to get in. and a 40 min tempo. and another short run, probably 2-3 miles at most.... getting ready for my ride this Saturday and my 10K on Sunday. not sure how thats all gonna work. i dont remember my legs being all that hammered after the MS150.... the 10K is really a training run for me....and to gauge where im at, pace-wise. i guess my long runs and the 5K have been a good indicator that im right where i need to be at this point in my 1/2 Mary training. so..... i REALLY like this 10K. its been an annual race for me back when i started running, it was my first BIG race i ran....funny what a HUGE deal it was back then, when i ran the 5K course. its a very popular race in PGH, one of the biggest attended races of the year. its a super swifty course, lots of downhills. so definately worth showing up for.... i guess ill have a better idea how to approach the race come Sunday morning when i wake up and see how my legs are feeling. its all good! gonna head out later to swim. HAPPY TRNG EVERYONE! stacieb Edited by skrtrnr 2009-09-21 7:27 AM |

Expert 1007 Hattiesburg, Mississippi | Subject: RE: Fighting Okra - September End of Summer Challenge Got my run in, 3.1 miles. I hate to complain, but gosh what is up with our weather?! 100% humidity, what's up with that!? Isn't that the same as rain? After running you would not have know the difference for looking at me, I was drenched, with clear skies! Keeping my fingers crossed for some cooler/dryer weather! |

Wish we only had 100% humidity to deal with. Rain, rain and more rain. Flash flooding. People can't make it to work today. My friend's car got flooded at the front of the subdivision. It's all a mess. Good news, got a ride in on the trainer and am hoping to get out and walk in the rain when it is not so hard. Need to get my mileage in. |
