What I learned about bacteria--bacteria kind of suck (unless they are there naturally, which in some cases can be bad ) if you remove a child's spleen the chances of septic infection increases for encapsulated bacteria (menigococcal, haemophilus influenzae and pneumococcal ) so basically you can get meningitis, pneumonia, bacteremia (high bacteria in blood )= bad news bears=septic shock=systemic inflammatory response syndrome=disseminated intraavascular coagulation, acute respiratory distress syndrome, acute heart failure, acute renal failure....also bacterial infections are yucky...more info to come with staph and strep infections later this week... ya....good stuff |
