Ok, I have set the spreadsheet up for our little IM Challenge.

Website - is docs.google.com

User name = [email protected]

password = challengeforum

If I have not added your name, please add it in.  We will start on Monday, January 18th to get folks a couple of more days to join in.

Let me know if you have any questions or if you can't get to the spreadsheet.

Bummer!  I was hoping to count tomorrow's race! Wink  It's all good.  Monday sounds great!

Josh - can this doc be shared so we can get to it from our own Google Accounts?

Do you mind if we "invite our google accounts" so that we have access?

I have no idea.  I am not a google person. Don't have my own accounts.  I assume you can.  Seren will probably know.  She's a frequent participant in the BT challenges.

I think he's just asking permission, not asking how.  So.... do we have permission to invite ourselves?  I use google and it would save me a lot of signing in and out if we could.

As your all powerful leader, I grant you permission.

I don't care what you do with the spreadsheet.  Just don't delete it.

Question about running with broken toes...Any one know of any long term potential problems?  They don't really seem to hurt much on this last short run today, but i have 10 planned for tomorrow and at least 12 on Sunday.  I will be running in my old running shoes, not my five-fingers and I'll most likely try to tape them all together for extra support.

I don't know what I did.  I don't really remember kicking anything.  I just noticed this morning at work that they were getting a little sore and when I changed my socks after my run the last two toes on my right foot were black and blue, swollen and I can't bend them.  I'm actually just assuming they are broken based on what I've seen on my wife.  She kicks stuff on the floor all the time and seems to have a broken toe at least once a year.

Then you should stay off the floor and your wife won't break her toe

Josh (nice picture change--now we know better who we are dealing with)  Wanted to let the group know that although at first I thought I could be involved more, I need to remove my name from your list of members who are joining the IM Challenge-time restraints just won't allow me to add more to my plate at this time.  Guess I will just have to continue with being in our great group and watch some of the other challenges from the side lines.  Think it's a wonderful idea to add these extra challenges and they will only benifit all of us in the long run. But sometimes as they say, You can't do it all!  Coming up in the next few months my involvement in an orgainization increases (President of The Glens Medical Mission to Guatemala) and squeezing in extra training time will be a struggle but that is something I will not miss!  Have already worked out times and places where I will be able to work out while in Guatemala  (April).  Yes, the rest of the team might think I am crazy but the racing season will be up and running shortly after I return.  I could go on and on about how much I am enjoying my training, racing and being a part of a wonderful group.  But will end it with--I need to get back to work--no rest for the wicked.  (But did manage to get a work out in at 5am today)

Just wanted to thank whoever it was who said to engage the core in biking ( I forget who said it now).  After I read that I started paying attention and found that my core actually collapsed!  And I always thought my bike wasn't fitted right.  What a difference it has made to engage the core!

Do what you can.  The challenge was not set up to make anyone feel they should do it.  I just wanted do set up a goal we could all do together.  It should be attainable, but also a bit challenging.  Feel free to do any distance you want.  And we will forgive you if you are off saving lives all over the world

HAHA!  you assume that I have to be on the floor for that!Surprised

Didn't do too bad on the run this morning.  Felt pretty good actually though I didn't run the whole distance.  the strength training before kinda wiped me out...  15 tomorrow to make up the difference.

Questions about the challenge.  Are we just seeing how fast we can get it done?  Or are we trying to get it done in a certain time period?

Also, can I count walking for running?  My calf didn't really like running today.

We are just going to see how long it takes.  No race.  You can walk.  There are no hard and set rules.

How did it go yesterday?

Steve, I know that my drainer is set as if I was climbing a hill most of the time. I am sure if I wanted to take a ride outside, then go right onto the drainer, I could get it set close. I am willing to accept that my bike mile numbers are low, but they give me a nice boost to my ego in the spring when I get outside

scogz1 - 2010-01-14 11:31 PM

I have been playing with the adjustment on my bike trainer because I found a pile of rubber on the floor. I thought it might be adjusted too hard so I loosened the adjustment up a bit so I don't need to get a new tire before spring. My time on the trainer is acurate but I question the miles\speed being displayed on the bike computor based on my resistance level. Does anyone know the proper way to adjust it so it simulates actual road resistance??
