The only training I did this weekend was riding a 'wine train' to Ft. Worth and back (Amtrak with a wine tasting from Mineola TX to Ft. Worth).  Will have to hit it hard tomorrow and try to get back in a groove this week.

My wetsuit is a Vortex 3 as well.  I'm a little nervous about the OWS today but I'm looking forward to it.

W5 D2 this morning...19, 19, 22, 22, 18, 18, 22, 60 (max).  I think that I can get to 100 soon but my form probably wouldn't pass military scrutiny.

krisko - 2010-03-28 1:07 PM I started the pushups program on week 5 and was able to max out the last set at 50.  Doing day 2 tomorrow morning...I feel like I'll hit a hundred after a couple of weeks.

Tomorrow I'll be hitting the lake for the first time, with my wetsuit of course.  Not sure whether to just do a little splashing or actually get on it for 30 minutes or so.  Then later in the week I'll be taking the wetsuit into the Atlantic when I visit my dad in Florida.

I'm a little late getting to your message, but good luck in your first OWS of the year. I don't see any point in wrestling into a wetsuit and getting into freezing water if you're not going to swim a bit. At least do 20 minutes with some sighting practice. You'll feel better if you get out there and get warmed up. Do your first 200m FAST and then settle into a slower stroke. That'll get you warm and keep you there.  Have fun, and let us know how it goes!

DOH!  OWS cancelled as it's overcast and too cold.  I think we've got 2 more weeks before we can get in, but I'll get in two ocean swims before that point.

That sucks Chris!  At least you have the opportunity to do a couple coming up.  I think I am going to go to a lake on Thursday evening and then again on Saturday after my Duathlon.  Most of my Tri Club is racing in the Oly or HIM at the LoneStar IM on April 24 and 25  so everyone is trying to get out there and swim right now.  I am jumping in any chance I get.

Chad, who the heck it that bald dude in your avatar?  He looks like one badass mofo ... and quite aero! Smile

21 miles on the bike after a 2 week break followed by an easy 4 miles running.  The ride kicked my butt and I'm glad it did....I need to get on the bike twice a week at least.

W5, D3 for me.  20, 20, 24, 24, 20, 20, 22, max (62).  I'm taking 2 days off any strength workout and I'll take a stab at 100 on saturday morning.  Now I'm off for a 4/5 mile run and then oral surgery (extraction, implant).  Then it's a diet of proteing shakes, soup, and ice cream for a couple of days.

There's a lot going on in that post, LOL.  Awesome work on the pushups! I haven't gotten around to day 1 of this week yet. Doh!  I didn't want to do it last night since I had masters swim this morning.

Also, you say you're running 4/5 mile. Why not run the whole mile?

Finally, good luck in surgery. I had my jaw wired shut for a month last summer, and I never want to drink another Boost or Ensure again!

Good luck on the 100!  Man, that is a lot!

Let me know if you have any questions about the implant.  I work for a dental company and sale implants and train docs on how to place them.  Good luck!  Usually you only need some asprin for the post op soreness.

Oops, meant '4 or 5 miles'...ended up doing 5.

Thanks for the encouragement with the implant.  I normally don't fear dental work but this has been looming on the calendar for over a month now.  I don't do well on percocet or darvocet so I'll be taking advil for post op pain.  Hopefully I can get back to training on sunday or so.

Supposedly both the implant and the doc are top notch and I've got the receipt to at least infer that.  One place I don't cut corners is dental care.

You'll be back in the saddle in no time!  Were they just placing the implant today or loading it with a tissue former or temp crown?

Don't worry about the procedure it is simple.  I could do an implant in my garage - it is that easy!  Root Canals are more difficult and more painful!

I did the procedure and it was rather interesting and I mostly felt nothing.  The doctor was careful when extracting the dead tooth...it took 10 minutes and he was able to leave most of the bone intact.  The implant went right in and he laid a little cadaver bone over the top to insure new bone grows over the implant.  I can't get the crown for 4-6 months.

The doc is a runner and he said I should not elevate my hr for a couple of days but after that it's game on!

Glad it went well for you! let me know if you have any questions about it.

Take it easy for a couple of days and then hit it hard!!  I am getting ready to leave for an OWS in a divers lake.  It is 77 degrees and beautiful outside --- I am excited to use my wetsuit again!

I have to say it.  Chris every time you put Doh! in your post now with the bald head pic I do think of Homer Simpson and laugh.

Jeff day 2 week four (really week 2) is today for me then group bike ride this evening of probably about 20 miles.

Work this weekend and hope the full moon waning will encourage people to stop acting crazy.

I have signed up for another 5k my knee seems to be doing ok as long as I don't really add on the mileage.

And yes I can feel results from the push-ups at the gym making some exercises easier

I did day one of this week's pushups last night. This is the farthest I've gotten with the 100 pushup challenge. I can tell they are getting easier to do, and that's great.

I like the bald head look.  Thinking of doing it myself.  Gives you that badass Triathlete look!

Yeah, the push ups are getting easier.  I am getting ready to go do Day 3 of Week 2 -- my arms are sore from yesterday's OWS.  We went to this diver's lake in South Houston and it was great.  Very clear and deep water, which is uncommon for our geography.  The water temp was cool but I was actually warm inside the wetsuit.  Probably could have swam without the suit and been fine!

That's not me!  I really should get around to posting a race pic but mine all suck.

I'm on the way to recovery from the oral surgery but it's been a little tougher than I expected.  I've had no pain at all but the steroids and antibiotics have me feeling beaten down a bit.  I'll run 5 tomorrow and today I did P90X chest/back.  For the challenge I'm on w5 d3...45, 55, 35, 30, max (70).  I'm going to the beach (destin, FL) on wednesday so I hope to go for the 100 before then.

Should I bring my bike to Destin?

You are killing the PUs!!!  Those darn OMS always give you antibiotics and they tire everyone out.  Well at least your immune system will be in good shape!

You are asking us if you should take your bike?  You know that answer will be YES across the board!

Did a Duathlon with the Tri Club yesterday.  It was a nice tune up for the Tri season.  Also got in my 3rd OWS in the last 6 days.  I am loving swimming right now for the first time and hope it stays that way even when I ditch the wet suit!!!

Saturday is my first Tri of the season and I am getting excited for it.  It is a Sprint in the Kemah Bay which is saltwater.  It will be my first swim in saltwater.  After that I have an Oly distance on April 24th and then we are volunteering for the Sunday 70.3.  Am very pumped the season is finally here!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Nice job on the duathlon Jeff!  I'll be getting in my first OWS tomorrow w/o the wetsuit and I'll probably do another with the wetsuit on thursday morning.  The Gulf (of Mexico) will be cold!

Later on I'll be doing a 3 or 4 mile run in 90 degree temps and then tonite I'll be doing between a 10 and 15 mile bike ride.  I don't know how far...I'm taking the bike to a buddies house so he can borrow it while I'm at the beach.

Just now I finished P90X with the 'hundred' mod.  W6 D2 22, 22, 30, 30, 24, 24, 18, 18, 75 (max).  I'm feeling good about that last set.  I'll be taking the hundred shot on friday or saturday morning.

edit: 20 minutes later and my triceps are singing!  They haven't felt like this since I first start P90X last year.  I guess the challenge is really blasting 'em!
