Hey Twisters!

I haven't checked in for awhile, but just wanted to let you know I'm right on schedule.  105% on my run goal and 2 more scheduled rides and one more swim to hit my other ones.  Not sure how much over 100% I'll get on those, but it will be AT LEAST 100%.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Errr... Rain is back.  The trails were just getting nice again too!

One more swim session will finish off my goals.  I should be at 105 percent across the board by the end of the month!

Good work everyone.

Last year the weekend before they had a whopper rain storm blow through and it made for some fun spots for sure.  The RD did a course preview (or part of it) over the weekend and he says it is looking good but we still have 3 weeks to go Cool

Its all part of the adventure, right?  That's what I have to remind myself when faced with adversity!

I think this is going on my calender for 2011.  Supposedly all single track from Vancover to Whistler!

tri808 - 2010-03-30 12:33 AM Masters class was brutal today.  We were doing tons of butterfly, and butterfly kicking.  As much as I hate these workouts sometimes while doing them...there is no way that I would ever push myself to work this hard on my own.  And my progression from a "survival" swimmer, to now a pretty decent one has a lot to do with these crazy masters workouts.

when struggling through butterfly I remind myself that it strengthens your core, back and neck.   A butterfly workout is an excellent way to prepare yourself for riding in aerobars.  I've was told this by one of the spin instructors at my Y that is also a competitive cyclist.  I was asking him about preparing for more time spent in aero...I was doing a brick and had just come from the pool...and he asked if I could do butterfly, if I did it much...He said that typically people who do have no problems with spending long hours in aero.  Unfortuanately I am not all that proficient at butterfly, but I don't balk quite as much about a fly workout as I did prior to that conversation.

so tired.  I've been staying up way too late the last few nights.  It is entirely by choice though...

Hopefully once I get going my eyes won't feel so heavy.

Well the rain let up for awhile, but the wind was blowin'.  I went out for a run anyways.  I like running in the light mist-drizzle.  Wind just sucks.  Nothing special, just an easy 7 miles.  Longest since my injury in January though.  Hip feels good right now.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the morning.

QOTD:

What's your resting HR?  Do you keep track of it on a regular basis.  I started keeping track of it just recently as some people say it's a good way to tell if your body needs rest or is getting sick.  Your resting HR (right when you get up from bed) should be within 2-3 beats of your average...if it's 5-10 beats higher, it means you are not fully recovered or could be getting sick.

After I get up, I put my HRM on, and lay down for about a minute or two...then I turn on the HRM and it's been about 47-50 bpm.  Actually quite lower than I thought.

I haven't in a while but last time is was low 40's if I remember correctly.   I could tell I was not fully recovered this week after my Saturday bike ride.  So I took it easy but I knew my body was still in a little shock

Wow...low 40's is awesome.

I heard Miguel Indurain's resting HR was like 28 or something though...=)

x2.  I don't usually get the luxury of gradually waking up too often.  Normally, I'm awoke by one of my kids hitting me, kind of spikes the HRYell  My HR is normally mid to upper 50s throughout the day.  Last time I was able to check my RHR it was 46 I believe.  But, without trending the number, it doesn't provide much information.
