Breezy - 2010-07-20 5:06 PM Dear Liquigas riders, You have worked hard over the last few weeks and deserve some rest time. Your legs are tired aren't they? Why not take a few days off of the bike. It will be there when you get back. Start up again anytime after July 25th. Love, A Garmin rider

Here is the response I posted in the Garmin thread:

"Dear Garmin riders,

Sorry you're so close, but still not cutting it.  We'll be happy to take a rest day...it is currently scheduled for July 26th.  However, if you feel the need to rest early, we would totally understand.  You can do whatever you want, but remember that the peloton only waits for the yellow jersey.

Love,
Liquigas"

hahaha! Love it!!!

Its been pretty windy today. I've been sitting here watching out the window for the wind to die down like it did last week when I skipped a workout because of the wind but it just doesn't seem to be happening. There are also some clouds that are making me wonder which way the weather is turning.

I'm also wondering how it can get up to 100 with cloud cover and wind like this. We don't really see that in these parts. If its cloudy, its usually cooler.

Boy was the weather man off. Its still windy, its not 100, and now its raining. It doesn't look like it will last too long so there is still hope I can get out for a ride.

Maybe the Garmin team is making your weather bad to hold you back.  Don't let them beat us.

I got ride #10 in.

Half way through my rear derailleur called it quits.  I had to single speed it home.  Hit the last of the rollers on my way in (Jen, the one I call suck it) and walked up cause the front derailleur refuesed to switch rings then and I don't feel like trashing my legs today.

Good thing I have the Blue for my last ride on Saturday and race on Sunday!

I didn't let it stop me. The wind looked like it was settling down so I finished up what I was working on and took my lunch. I should have stopped earlier because the wind had started to pick back up again. I got my ride in though.

I think I'm taking a break from the bike today. I need to get some more swimming and running in plus I only have two more rides and I'll get those in on Friday and a long one on Saturday. I'll get 100% on the number of rides and waaay over on the time.

Breezy - 2010-07-22 12:31 PM Thanks for taking that rest day!

Sorry everyone. I ended up being a total slacker yesterday. No bike, no swim, no run, nothing. I smacked my head on a corner and cut my head open. Now I have a dilemma. I am scheduled for an ows tomorrow morning and really don't want to miss it. Now I can't get my head wet where the cut is. So I have a question for you. I've never used a swim cap before. Will the swim cap keep it dry or is swimming out for a week?

The swim cap will not keep it dry. Swimming is unfortunately probably out for a week.

I also took a rest day yesterday. I was only supposed to swim anyways, but I think my anesthetic line for my animal yesterday was leaking and I was exposed to a bit of isoflurane. Light anesthetic and only at a dose for a 550g animal, but I definately had quite the headache.

Rat surgery?

Ya I'm working in a lab doing some work in kidney physiology. My project involves imaging of the kidney to measure blood flow data with a laser. We have to surgically prepare the animal under anesthetic and put in lines to maintain blood pressure, blood volume, etc.
