I had a good training session last night and a good run this morning and am in a MUCH better head space for Saturdays fight now. Thank goodness! It really is a head game with me, I am fit and strong but I need to believe in myself more and give my opponents less credit!

One last hard session tonight and then the taper begins....and cheesecake on Friday post weigh in!

Cheesecake Good luck on your next fight! See if your library has a good sport psychology book and see if there's any useful information. I have one you could borrow if you want to swing by...

Ok, I'll pop round for a coffee later and I'll bring some cheesecake too

I've had a bit of a rough day... story below from my blog:

Our apartment was broken into last night!  Jaclyn and I left the living room at 11 to watch tv in my room.  About 11:30 we thought we heard Blair come back in.  We called her name but got no answer, we figured she was on the phone or didn't hear us so we thought nothing of it.  At 12:30 I went downstairs to leave to go to James's for the night and Blair was down there.  This morning I woke up to a text from Jaclyn asking if I had dropped a $20 bill.  Looked into my wallet and sure enough I was missing money.  That's not all i was missing though.  I had a $25 visa gift card and 3 reward cards from Victorias Secret and they were all gone.  I immediately started feeling a little creeped out.  I knew they were in there last night and I hadn't touched my purse at all once I got back to my apartment last night.  I left to go pick up the money at the apartment and texted Blair asking when she got back.  Her reply: she had just walked in when I saw her at 12:30.  At this point ice ran through my veins, she hadn't come back at 11:30 like we thought so who was that??  I texted our other roommate knowing ultimately she definitely hadnt come back and about 2 hours later she called me confirming this.  So at 11:30 last night someone was in our apartment went through my purse, stole the gift cards and left.  This doesnt seem like a break-in to rob us since whoever it was could have easily stolen my camera, nook, Blair's computer, our tv among other things that were all downstairs.  Been completely creeped out and stressed all day!  We filed a police report and our apartment complex is going to have our locks changed but honestly I'm so scared now.  How did they get in??  We're 90% sure both doors were locked which makes us wonder if someone has a key and how did they get it if they do?  We're all pretty worried about what this person's true intentions were as it doesn't seem robbery was the motive.  Hoping the locks are changed soon so I can get a little peace of mind back!

That is super creepy! I'm sure you are getting the locks changed today so hope that gives you peace of mind!

Emma-Sorry to hear someone got to your apartment and took your stuff. Not fun. We had our house robbed a couple years back so I know what its like. Get the locks changed and get some locks or something for the windows so they can't open them either. That's how they got into my house, through a window that wasn't quite shut tight. If you window opens sideways, a bar that sits along the bottom of the window works well. I wouldn't worry too much about motives. They probably just wanted some quick cash. If they wanted more, they would have taken it. Time will help the nerves settle more than anything else.

Very scary Emma!  I actually had the same thing happen to me and my apartment mate my senior year of college.  My boyfriend was there most nights of the week and we all still felt creeped out for a long time.  Someone came in while we were all sleeping and just took money, my roommates smokes, small things like that.  My boyfriend had actually woke up in the middle of the night and thought he heard my room mate getting up to go to the bathroom, but it was actually this mystery person.   Right outside my bedrooom door.  We had the locks changed...  The cops actually told us that landlords are not really good about changing the locks in college apartments from year to year so it may have been someone who had an old key.  Or the landlords office was pretty much wide open and someone could have swiped an extra key pretty easily.  Or we could have just forgotten to lock the door.

Needless to say, we got anal about locking the door even when we were home but not gone to bed yet.  My dad actually ended up buying us an alarm type thing from the Home Safety Store (I don't even know if these stores exist anymore).  It was pretty easy to mount and use...

OK, off for a quicky run in the dungeon..

It has to be quick though because I still need to finish paint the kitchen ceiling, cleaning up the mess from when we were gone and catching up on laundry.  Lots to do before my good hand becomes unusable for a couple weeks!

Funny ... I don't remember my mum ever being sick when I was growing up. Not once. A few times she had surgeries and once in hospital for a long time after a terrible car accident, but she was never in-bed, ill.

Part of the problem is I'm just not a laying around kind of person...  I need to be DOing something most of the time, you know?  My hubby is actually a really good cook ad we were joking baout him having to cut up meat for me... but I can't let him hear the laundry.  The last time I did he flooded the laundry room.  The girls, I can at least bribe to fold the stuff!

owl_girl - 2011-03-16 4:52 PM Very scary Emma!  Can you get some bells or other loud things to hang on the doorknobs and on the windows until the locks are changed?  Yikes!!!  I've seen things for apartments that make loud shrieking noises when doors are opened.  Check into it!

I don't know about the loud shrieking noises... That sounds like it would trip me out along with the idea of someone coming back inside.

The element of surprise!  Maybe the would-be robber would wet his/her pants at the noise and give Emma and housemates at laugh. Tongue out

Thanks everyone!  I was pretty freaked out last night.  Every little sound made me jump.  Thankfully James was there and was able to calm me down and made me feel a lot more comfortable.  The part that freaks me out the most is knowing whoever did this was in the house while I was there.  I know it'll take me a while to get over the nervousness.  I've become one of those people that checks the doors like 3 times to make sure they're locked.  I'm hoping they'll come change the locks today.  Spring break is next week and I really dont want the apartment empty if someone potentially has a key.
