What the heck is it with the swim workouts that you guys do. I so want to be a beast too, so I am going to keep plugging along and know that next year I'll be doing those types of workouts. For now I'm staying the course, but I do love listening to the banter and seeing the workouts you guys do. I'm in awe. Second thing, I am toast after yesterday. Spent 5+ hours on the road (driving not biking), and 2+ hours in joint class. My mom is having total knee replacement. I did get the 12 mile bike in (14+ mph) while focusing on keeping my hr in lower zone 3. Feel like my legs are getting strong and I can stay in a higher gear with more umpf longer. Was going to get up and run before work but like I said, headache, tired, and just skipped it. Feel a bit like a looser but man I want to get rested for my 5K on Sat. Part of it is I have a 10 hour shift at work, then do adoration at church and don't get home until after 1am. Waa, waa, waa. What a whinner. Will pick up tomorrow and start again. Good job everyone else though. I really admire you guys! Linda
Nothing wrong with taking the day off, You should be well rested for this weekends event. I want you to PR this event. Great job with your bike, sorry to hear about your Mom. Stay focused, and listen to your body. You need a break take the break. On swimming, it will come. Keep up the great work.

What the heck is it with the swim workouts that you guys do. Nobody starts out doing those workouts. The first masters swim I did I finished with 2100 yards in an hour and was hypoxic a good portion of the class. I've moved up two lanes and I'm generally in control but pushing the edge when called for. By plugging away you'll get there. I've done 3400 yards in an hour while not feeling hypoxic. It comes with time and practice. |

Regular 62![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: Shellback1998 Group - FULLHad a great workout tonight - hour in spin (I know it's not the same as on the bike, but I love the instructor) and then went for a 2.4 mile run immediately afterwards (60 sec transition). I felt great with the run and there were some pretty tough hills in the run. Still not the fastest pace with the run (ran it at a 5.5 pace) but was happy with how I felt. I was tempted to run a little longer but didn't (trying to stay close to that 10% rule, although I have been breaking this a little this week) and also had to go pick up my bike. Got a new toy on my bike tonight - a computer that calculates my cadence. Since I just bought the other computer on the new bike, I had to pretty much rebuy another computer. I think it will be worth it though. For races this year -
The running has been a great experience for me, I wasn't a runner and actually had never run more than a couple of miles without stopping up until this spring. |

I want to get a new Garmin HRM with the GPS so if/when I upgrade I'll probably upgrade my computer too then. It's just so much money (I keep on thinking of it as an investment but when I do that, I spend a lot more). |
