Coming into this way late... but good luck on the ham radio test!  Not something I do too often but it's fun.  Hoping to use it helping out at a few races when I get the time to volunteer.

A lurker! And a nice piglet! Hello!

Hello back!
I don't get too many opportunities to post from work, but I try to get on here when I can.  Just found TAN a week or so ago... so I'm very new to TAN.  It seems like a fun & friendly place.

Well, WELCOME! It is. It's not for the easily offended, but you would have not been lurking around for a week if you hadn't figured that out already.

I am Yanti, TAN's resident certified psycho.

In case you missed the rules (we try to keep the chaos to a burgeoning maximum, but not actually implode):

1. No pics.

2. No acronym for laughing out loud.

3. What happens in TAN, stays in TAN.

Enjoy!

Pleasure to meet you!  Chris here.  Not to worry, I'm not easily offended.  I did see the rules in the previous thread.

Good God they are all reading the past TANs, beating us at are own game.

I had to find out what I was getting myself into before posting.

Hi again TAN!

I'm being amused by the border patrol tv shows and the dumb people who try to pull fast ones over the border guards.  "No really, I always bring work overalls and tools with me when I go on vacation, I promise I'm not here to work!"  Or "180,000 cigarettes?  I have no idea how all those got in my luggage... someone must have put them there when I wasn't looking!"

Good times!

That was me in Oz when they did and asked everything under the sun except up sideways without lube (but almost) ... both going in and out!

No, officer, this REALLY IS a bike.

I do not have explosive powders hidden amongst these biscuit crumbs.

I have no idea why your system flagged my passport and refuses to be overridden.

Please check out my really cool Ironman transition bag. It's why I came to your country. And to eat kangaroos, and pet them.

I have learned that border guards NEVER think it's funny to say that you're transporting a dead body in your bike box.  You then get sent downstairs to where they keep the really big x-ray machines and you get questioned extensively.  I think they were almost disappointed when it wasn't a dead body in there.  Oh, and I also learned that trying to use that joke a second time also doesn't work.

Hi Yantilicious!

Ugh!  I know exactly what you mean - that happened to me last weekend after being taken out for my 'hen do' (still kinda freaking out that I'll be married in less than 2 weeks!!!)... entirely too much smoke - it affected me for 2 days afterwards.  YUCK!!!

It was absolutely humbling to get that perspective while in Normandy... you can read everything you can get your hands on about that day, but it's something completely jaw-dropping to be there.
