No scoop that I'm aware of. I was just concerned about the number of weekly bikes and runs I need to fit in for HIM training. I am actually working on my plan now (er, no I'm not ... I'm ... uh ... working on my spreadsheet skills! Yeah, that's it!) So anyway, I originally hadn't paid much attention to Finks "tranny" runs but I'm including them. I'm up to week 11 and so far most weeks are: MWF - Masters in the AM, Tues AM "trannie", Thur AM bike (or drainer), Monday and Friday PM run, Saturday long bike, Sunday long run. With that as a framework I figure I might be able to squeeze in Tue & Thur extra bike or run depending on the schedule. I thought that you said that you got new shoes, which I was aware of, and a new bike. I thought to myself, how could I have missed this?! Sorry for the confusion. New bike SHOES and new running shoes (and hiking but that's neither here nor there (WTH does that mean anyway)). |

Saturdays are supposed to be the more casual day and Wednesday is the real deal. It was, hands down, one of the hardest things I have done in a long time. Granted A. I have had a bit of a fever and B. I didn't eat before practice (which fell during my regular dinner time) but daaaayum! Let me back up and talk about how awesome my coach is. After warm up he gathers everyone together and talks about how all the racers did over the weekend. Even getting into the minor details like, "despite the 1.5 mile gravel field at mile 11-12.5 so and so finished with x time." He clearly values each and every one of his athletes. Second, he was talking about some race detail and said something along the lines of "so and so had about a 10k left in the race, so about 6 miles when ..." then was interrupted by a smart azz that says, " A ten K is 6.2 miles." Tom (coach) just looks at him and then says, "6.21371...I could go on?" Anyway, the guys were supposed to do 3.5 miles speeding up at the middle mile and then speeding up again for the last 800. The girls were supposed to do 1.5 miles with the same progression. "Swwwwweeet!" I was thinking to myself. The coach had come up to me earlier and told me he has an idea of my current capabilities but wants to sand bag me a little until I get used to the frequency of these harder workouts. "Think of it as a practice in patience." he says. So this whole idea of a sandbagged 1.5 miler has me feeling pretty great. Just before we are lining up on the track to start he comes up to me and tells me I will be doing my workout with this girl who is prepping for a HM this weekend. 4.5 miles with the above progression. "SH*T!" I did it. And it was REALLY hard. I mean, had it not been with a whole group I think I might have quit. Obviously it's exactly that reason that this group is going to be so good for me. Just like you have all said about masters swimming. At the end the coach pulls me aside and says something along the lines of "You looked great! Piece of cake." I don't know if he was effing with me or what but I am pretty sure I didn't look anything close to great. *Sorry for the book, I just had to share Yes. You are the sh*t. NO! I'm soooooo not. This group is phenomenal. If it says anything, Uli Steidl is part of the group. I'm just lucky to hang on. That is great! Why I love Coach Johnny (not just coz he's HAWT!) but he treats everyone as if they are a world clas athlete, some of or squad are though to be fair but he will announce to everyone that JOJO did her first HIM, Jojo just did a HM at the weekend etc. He has time for all 60 people that may be there at any one time. A good coach is a good catch. |

My brother used to try to pimp us out as twins back in the big-party days. Hilarious. We were even skankier in a skinny hot young way back then so he'd try to see just how high he could get the numbers ... my bro dressed like a rich pimp daddy back then too. He regularly won best-dressed when we'd go out to the big clubs (there ain't no BIG like an Asian big-city BIG club ... like super-multi-storey ... even hard to describe). Hot damn I talk a lot. |

You should see what my brother looks like now. Just please, don't ask. It appears I didn't have to. Kick azz stache!!!!!!!!! (Which reminds me, I am doing a 5k mustache dash in No-shave-November. Perhaps I will use his as my inspiration!) A Dem too, perfect! |
