Had my first swim this morning. Umm I have my work cut out for me...

I managed 4x50yd.. after each lap, I was leaning on the wall trying to suck air. I can't seen to get my breathing right, so I ended up swimming with my face out of the water...

After my disastrous swim, I went upstairs and spent some time on an elliptical... I know I need to get my stamina up.

Had a scheduling conflict for the 5K I planned on running in April. Found one closer for 5-3. They have a 5K or 10K option. I'm thinking that since it'll be 4 weeks after I finish my C25K, it may be a good idea to shoot for the 10K... thoughts?

Now my schedule is:
5-3: 5/10K
5-17: Sprint Tri
5-31: TdC 62mi bike

At least you started and thats all that matters! Get one of these and work on building strength and stroke and then sort out breathing after

http://www.finisinc.com/equipment/technical-products/snorkels/swimm...

This is a way better option than swimming with head up, head up just destroys your technique so much you are doing more harm then good.

Keep it up!

What questions three must I answer thee?

A bit about me.
Ive been training for 10 months - started out w\ C25K.
Ran three 5ks last year.
I started out at about 263 (that was my peak that I weighted in at, but I may have been heavier at some point).
I am now down to 227 This AM, but was at a low of 223 before the holidays.

I was hoping to be at 210 for my race on 4/13, but not sure I am going to get there.
Still shooting for it, but if I don't get there I wont quit.

So I am signed up for the Coco tri on 4/13.
If you will have me, I will let you contemplate my questions on the tree of woe.

Clarkey, clarkey, clarkey... you my friend, you are in for a treat! 1 simple question;

What is the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything?

No pressure or anything but yes there is a correct answer, I wish you luck.... muuhhhuuuhhaaahaaaaaa (evil laugh)

Well, well, well look at the big brain on Clarkey :P well congrats on the answer but while you were thinking we all talked and decided to start a fusion funk metal band with a horn section, any chance you play the basoon?

Ok all tomorrow is the big day! I ended up eating spaghetti with 1 meatball and 1 sasuage , totally hit the spot! To bed early and normal routine in the morn. I'll be sure to report in shortly after race, but as far as I'm concerned this is a race against me, myself and I. Wish me luck!!!

Today's plan... Shopping! We're headed to the Endurance Sports Expo. I'm looking for a new bike and some new toys! Right next store to the expo is the Adidas truck sale. Great deals on Adidas clothes. Time to spend some tax refund and give back to the economy.

I'm grinning ear to ear, I didn't expect to feel such a sense of accomplishment but what a day it was! Thanks to this group for giving me a place to get support and post my acomplishemnts. For anyone feeling they can't get there or do, trust me YOU CAN!!

Holy crap, results in and I finished 9 of 48!!!!! I'm guessing that speaks more to the level of other competitors more than my level of competence, but I'll take it ??

Wow! Congrats!

This last week was pretty productive overall. back down to 260 (-4), and hoping the trend continues. C25K was a success even thought I didn't drop a full 10% on my times, they DID drop. I've developed a solid, workable training schedule, and with the weather finally starting to warm up, I can't wait to start the grind again.

Sunday: AM Bike, PM Run/Walk
Monday: AM Swim, PM Strength Train
Tuesday: PM Run/Walk
Wednesday: PM Strength Train
Thursday: AM Bike, PM Run/Walk
Friday: AM Swim, PM Strength Train
Saturday: AM Bike (optional)

My AM work is all early, early morning before getting first of the kids up for school at 6am. My PM work is generally after I get the baby down to sleep after 9:15pm, but before the oldest goes to bed between 10-10:30. The Saturday AM bike is optional to give me a day of rest if needed. Also, we're taking the kids to the pool on as many Saturday's as possible (not to train, but I'll still swim around)

Well, you could use the 4 weeks to book your travel to Kona. Seriously, I would start the plan sooner. Then repeat the last 4 weeks heading into your race. Or you could repeat the last 4 weeks of your last plan. That's what I normally do to bridge gaps between plans.

Congratz. I do not blame you.

If the race is the same distance in 8 weeks and depends on current recovery you need. If its the same distance I would try to keep the volume up if you can. No point in starting over. If you are building from Sprint to Oly I either double it doing week 1 twice then week 2 twice or If you can build 4 weeks and then keep the big week up for 4 weeks if you can. I think the later would give you better results if you could do it.

Well diet size I did nothing in February. I am stepping it up a notch. A lot of lean meats and a lot more veggies. I am stopping my lunch being a tv dinner because it is a lot of carbs and I figured I would better off making sure I have left overs and eat those. Not sure I can keep up salad only also. Switching from a lot of bread to some rice. Hopefully that well help too.
