I'm not sure how M-Th will play out. I am going for some 10 minute workouts here and there to ensure I do something. An ab workout in the am, something at lunchtime, dog walk-run evening. It is hard to do when you have those long hour days, but I figure 5 minutes of something is better than nothing. |

23 | Subject: RE: 2016 Clyde/Athena Tri-N-4-Weight Loss Mentor Group - Open Hey Everyone! I have been a member of BT for a while, back to around 08, but took an 8 year break from the site! I was a Clyde then, and am a clyde now (6'6'', 250)I am currently deployed overseas, so my swim options are non-existent. To keep pace with my "Complete an IM before I turn 30" (I am 28) I signed up to run the Air Force Marathon out here. I have never run a marathon before, let alone one at 5000ft altitutde and with the constant threat of rocket attacks at anytime haha. The marathon is in 19 weeks, so in 1 more week I will be starting Hal Higdons Novice 1 Marathon program (18 weeks long). I have modified it a bit to keep my weightlifting as an option MON-LIft TUES-Run WED-RUN THURS- RUN FRI-REST SAT- RUN SUN- Bike/Lift I am excited to be back and find a like minded group of awesome people. I don't get back till November, after a long year deployment. I plan on running HIM Chattanooga in May 17 and then the full IM Chattanooga in Sept 17. I look forward to meeting all of you! James |

There are a few of us here, myself included, who will be happy to see another "brother in green". Secondly, given your situation, it looks like a solid plan! |

788 Across the river from Memphis, Tennessee | Subject: RE: 2016 Clyde/Athena Tri-N-4-Weight Loss Mentor Group - Open Not a bad week if I say so myself... Weight: 270.5. only down .5, but given the fact that it was my birthday week and there was a nice dinner and cake involved, I'm happy to see a drop. Swim: Nope. Woke up Friday morning to a monster coughing and I was afraid of having a fit in the water... it could be bad, mmkay? lol! Bike: Managed a nice 14 miler Sat morning. I only avg'd 14.4mph, but since I'm back on the Denali and it's been a while, I can not be unhappy with that at all. I came home and immediately put the bike on the trainer for this week's 7-day challenge. Run: I did c25k day 1 last Sunday for a total of 1.63mi. I got home just before the end of cooldown, so I just killed it there. I also managed a short 1.19 walk Tuesday before work. This week gives me a good 12 weeks for a slow build, and a last week to taper/rest before Riverbluff in Nashville. As long as they don't cancel on me again, I'm looking forward to a comparative run from 2 years ago: Swim: 11:03 for 437.45 yds (I caught a couple of bad waves and choked. Most of the swim was sidestroke) Bike: 50:41 for 14mi (I burned myself out on rolling hills trying to make time up for the run) Run: 53:10 for 3.4mi (Went into the race injured, knew I had to walk the whole thing) I think I can match, if not beat, these times. So, that's the goal. |

Regular 1777 Auckland, North Island | Subject: RE: 2016 Clyde/Athena Tri-N-4-Weight Loss Mentor Group - Open Bit of a mixed week for me. no swims, 1 bike for 1 hour 32 5 runs for 3 hours 33 Life got in the way this week and I ended up with Tues/Thurs as un-scheduled rest days. Turning saturday into a double workout day by adding a run partially made up for it. But still ended up with less than planned. Also diet was very 'mixed' this week. Bounced back up on this mornings weigh in. For this coming week the goals are the same, 5-6 runs and a saturday morning bike. But this week I plan to change 1 of the 30 minute easy runs to a 60 minute run (Which had been the plan for last week) |

Good job on your weeks work. 12 weeks is a lot of training time. Those times look very achievable for you by then. Look forward to seeing the progress. |

3/20 - Breathing heavy, but not dying. Could barely walk without leaning on the bike. Legs are going to need some serious roadwork before the Lumberjack in August.
Sunday WALK
4/20 - Okay, that was working it a bit too hard. 45 mins of EIA tells me it was too soon to go that hard. |

Saturday was in the gym for strength training, although I did more in the yard removing a concrete sidewalk. Sunday was a nice ride with a friend. We only made 17.43 miles but we climbed over 1400 feet in the miles. I was suppose to have a gym workout this morning but it did not happen. Mon Gym Tues Run/gym Wed Ride/swim Thurs Swim/gym Friday Run/gym Sat Long Ride Sunday, Long Run I made my 70th day in a row on MFP, and did pretty good this weekend. My weigh in day is Wednesday, but I do check my weight periodically (daily). I have my meals planned all week and they look good and healthy. If I stick to it I should see some progress this week. Wishing everyone a wonderful week, keep posting. John |

I haven't competed in one yet. I'm new to joining and posting on a site, so this is new and weird to me. I used to be an athlete and in pretty good shape. After I stopped, I gained a lot of weight and trying to get back to healthy. 5'8", 212 lbs. Would be cool to have a buddy to talk to, who's going through or has gone through same thing. Can use all the help and advise I can get. Well, just wanted to introduce myself. Hope to chat |

Extreme Veteran 1150 Nisbet, PA | Subject: RE: 2016 Clyde/Athena Tri-N-4-Weight Loss Mentor Group - Open Okay, I need to go see my doctor. Quick background; in 2005 I was working at a federal prison in NJ and only getting home once a month. My daughter waited until I left for the month and then moved her boyfriend into her bedroom, obviously without my permission. My wife did not back me up when I said he had to leave. 2006 I returned to working at a PA federal prison and home. I gave him a deadline to have a job or get out. Instead my daughter takes him to the courthouse for a JP wedding. Needless to say I had no use for him at all by then. I end up in the hospital for chest pains that were eventually diagnosed to be stress related angina and start two years of Lexapro. Finally she forces him to go active duty Army. Things settled down and I was able to kick the Lexapro. Last April 15th he was released from the Army for medical reasons. Don't go getting all weepy for him, it was only because he needs hearing aids, nothing serious. Now I spend every day teaching a bunch of pubescent teenagers, took over a completely disorganized and discordant classroom from a pretty incompetent teacher but I'm having a great time trying to squeeze 95 days of curriculum into 45 days of school. AND I did well enough that they have already hired me (without an application or interview) to stay on permanently. But for the last two weeks, about an hour after school has closed and I have no further reason to stay there, I can feel my chest starting to tighten up. Two weeks ago he lost the construction job I arranged for him because he can't keep his damned mouth shut and not argue with the foreman. And now with no income or savings I can't bring myself to throw my daughter and her two sons (8 and 3) out of the house with him. So I am stuck with him too. To tell you the truth, I am afraid to workout because I am afraid to aggravate the chest pains I am having. I am 99% certain it is because of stress and aggravation. But like I said, I am going to have to make an appointment to go see my doctor next week. Looks like I'll be going back on the Lexapro. I can't vent on Facebook because they both read my posts, so thanks for putting up with my venting here. Believe it or not, it is cathartic. |

788 Across the river from Memphis, Tennessee | Subject: RE: 2016 Clyde/Athena Tri-N-4-Weight Loss Mentor Group - Open It's been a while, but I jumped in the pool today. 200yd free 4x25yd catchups with paddles (no pull buoy) 2×50yd kick 225yd free I was shooting for 1000yd total, but had a coughing fit on that last 25. I coughed out 3 times before I choked. I have a lot of work to do in the water before August. The kids are out of school in a couple of weeks. I can add in another swim and hopefully hook up with that group ride in Memphis like last year. Going to need the hill work. |
