Its threads like this that make me want to quit this site:

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=99117&posts=7&start=1

The 'go away because you're not a triathlete' threads.

I don't like or want to swim. I know du people around here that would kick the azz up between the shoulder blades of most of the tri people on this site even if they finished last in the swim.

Scott, bummer that there are people here on this site that feel that BT (T is for triathlon) is an exclusive club.  Pay them no mind.  You're here, you're training and you benefit from the discussion here on BT...o.k., so some days maybe we discuss more than we train

We are all different.  I must be weird.  Even if I were the last person to finish the swim (o.k. maybe next to last person to finish the swim ), I would still enjoy triathlons.  I guess I enjoy the humiliation challenge .

Your running has improved dramatically since last year, I think because of a lot of good advice from Scout (too bad he's not around much).  Think about where your running would be now without involvement here on BT.

We definitely welcome you here on nibbins, and don't care whether you swim or not (although we can keep trying to convince you --how long did it take Scout to get you to run? ).

Not everyone on BT feels that this is a TRI exclusive club...for what it's worth...

Good morning nibbs.  I really do need to get moving before Cat and Dee start riding my case...but right now I'm too tired to do anything but read.  And that's hard enough to do as a librarian.  LOL

Swimming, baking cookies, making a cheese ball, carrolling are on tap for today.  I'm scratching the luncheon.  It is almost an hours drive away and I'd rather be swimming.

Morning Kendra!  I'm catching up on the posts in 'nibbins.  I am a fool.  That is all...

I know I should... but it does reinforce my impressions that the running community is more welcoming of anyone than either the cycling or tri communities are.

I disagree, but you're allowed to have your opinion...

I think that depends on your running community or any sport community. If you get folks out there who feel like every training session is a chance to prove how great they are, you are going to be in trouble no matter what. And those people always show up at group sessions. That's why I like solo training. I can do what needs to be done and not get caught up in all that. The flip side is that it is boring and lonely. I like the pool because I can socialize with the other swimmers and still do my own workout. But I am a swimmer and it is comforting to me.

I do not like running. It is hard. I get injured easily. I am not good at it. But I love triathlon. And I will run to improve my triathlon. Swimming is relaxing, cycling gives me wings, and running keeps me humble. Very, very humble. I respect the pure runners, cyclists and swimmers. I just like triathlon. I find the races are much more forgiving than a one event race. In swimming, if you have a bad start or turn, game over. In cycling, you miss a break away or get boxed in, game over. Running, you go out to fast and you will die at the end. Triathlon if you screw up one segment, you can always make up for it in another.

That's my long philosophical thoughts on this. It is a sport. Life is short. Do what you love. As Kristen says, that is all.

True that...

Although you need to swap "swimming" for "running" - as in "I do not like swimming. It is hard." And you need to swap "runner" for "swimmer" - as in "But I am a runner and it is comforting to me."

But other than those simple changes, you said it exacly right.

Yes. Vodka is very effective against a sugar crash How's the chest congestion today, Beth?

Kendra, lunch or swim, tough choice! Let us know what eventually happens.

Mornin' Gang!!

Just checking in while waiting on my car (I love my dealership - free internet service... yahoo)

Actually made it to the pool for a few minutes last night.  I was exstatic b/c I actaully passed up the guy in the lane next to me.  Though it still took me 35 minutes to swim 550 yds.  I figure that's okay being I'm still feeling a little congested.

Funny thing... went for my massage this morning and she commented how she could smell the chlorine... and I thought I had showered it off well last night

Actually I'm going to try to make a cheese ball that looks like a cake, but I don't want to call it cheesecake and get all the nibbs excited.  I had this last night in class and I'm going to try and recreate it without instructions.

You mix creamcheese with chopped scallions or green onions, crushed pineapple, finely chopped green pepper.  mold in a round cake pan, flip upside down and then frost it with a thin layer of creamcheese and then decorate it with colored cream cheese.  It looked and tasted so good last night I'm going to try to make it for the carrolling party tonight.  Wish me luck.  If it turns out, I'll post the recipe.  The person who brought it had been given it and the person who gave it had purchased it, but we don't know from where.

I swam and swam and swam.  2000 yards.  My endurance is improving big time.  Thanks for the workouts Pam, even if I havent' followed them completely, cause I'm dumb and havne't copied them and stuck them in a baggie so when i get in the water I forget what i'm supposed to be doing.  but I try to remember.  I have noticed that I can get done quicker now, my times for the 100's are slowly dropping.  yahoo.

Yep... Matrix Essentials Alternate Action (Beth's choice) - I can't find the stuff.

         Loreal Kid's Swim (Yanti's choice)

And I could have sworn someone posted something about Dove body wash.  I've tried the green moisture one, and it doesn't work for me.
