So my AG rank was 10/22, not 26 - forgot not to count the athenas...oops! Thanks - yeah, I'm pretty pleased overall with my ranks and times! It's a local race, so it probably encourages a lot of slower folk to come out, so maybe I shouldn't be THAT impressed with myself, but my times did improve a bit from the last race I did in the fall. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Just wanted to say hey, guys ... sorry I've been out of touch. My mom is visiting, and my training is not going so well - the combination of having company and still having to study is proving to be too much of a distraction. So I haven't really had much to say. Congrats again to everyone who raced this weekend - you guys did awesome! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey all! Finally checking in after a short holiday. I came back to madness at work. Not only was I swamped with work that needed done but we had a power failure last night. So today has been spent trying to get all the instruments in the lab re-qualified for use. Good times. On the training side of life, I've got a nice light week this week as I'm racing on Saturday. It will be my first OWS. I'll be learning on the go on this one. It's looking like it will be hot and humid this weekend too. My first race in hot weather. Should be an interesting day! Anyone else racing this weekend? |

Slower Than You ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yup, my first race Sunday. First OWS too. Shouldn't be a big deal though, I'm quite comfy in the water. Sighting is my only real worry, but it's only a 200-yard swim. Definitley getting hot here in Cracklanta. Finally decided to hit the 90s this week. Also wishing for Monday to get here so I can start figuring out the rest of my life. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Rub it in, rub it in ... it's still cool here - and it hasn't stopped raining yet. Our winters are rainy (it very rarely snows, just rains all the time) .. and usually by June it's stopped and we have a long HOT DRY summer ... go into drought mode by September, then in November the rains come again. Not this year. It's STILL raining. I'm homicidal. I miss the sunshine. ;-( |

Or at least the rain does not happen on any of my races. I'd prefer hot and dry to hot and humid any day. If you want hot and humid, come to DC. |

Looks like I've got some RRs to read! YAY! Brian! Emily!!! Good luck for the weekend! I'll look forward to reading your RRs on the weekend too!

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() We need the RAIN! With the drought issues we've had I feel bad just letting the kiddos play in a sprinkler. Good luck all who are racing this weekend! I never got signed up for the Douglasville race (BCART) - doing the West Point Sprint next weekend instead. ![]() |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good luck to Brian and Emily on the races this weekend - and anyone else who's doing any. Hope everyone has fun no matter what they're doing. I'm diving a Submarine in Dunbar (Firth of Forth) it's aparently at about 40M depth and low visability so, if nothing else, will be interesting! After that I have to take an overnight trian to a meeting for a couple of days so I may be MIA for a while. Have fun and see you soon. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks for the well wishes, everyone! I'm starting to freak a bit about the swim. I really wish I'd had a chance to do a practice OWS before the race. We don't have any lakes/reservoirs nearby that allow swimming. Hopefully they'll let us get in the water for some warmup time and I'll get a chance to practice before the race. I think that will make me feel much better about things. I keep telling myself, "It's only 400m. It's only 400m." So 8 minutes of suffering and I'll be clear of the water. Then I can suffer on my bike... |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well, I survived the OWS. There wasn't much space on the "beach" to start the swim and I got stuck in the back of the pack. There was quite a bit of breaststroking before I was able to work my way through the crowd to find some open water. And then everything was just peachy. I swam in a reasonably straight line and everything. Next race I'll most definately angle for a better starting position. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Folks, I'm off to San Francisco in a few hours, for a lovely little holiday ... it's one of my favorite cities in the entire world and I can't wait! I always have such a good time there. I will be out of touch, for the most part, for a week or so ... but that doesn't mean I'm not thinking of my beloved BT'ers! Good luck to all who are racing, good luck to all who are training, and know that although I have strong intentions to continue working out - I will most likely spend my days lying in parks and drinking wine. ;-) |

Slower Than You ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Oy vey. one down, many many more to go. Had a good time at the race. Man it got hot on the bike & run. Now I know where I really stand in regard to my training, especially since I've been so lazy the last couple weeks. Race pace is a WHOLE DIFFERENT ANIMAL than weekly training. I need to adapt to that a little better. That, and run some more. But I refuse to enjoy it. ![]() Hope everyone had a good weekend. I'm wiped out. |

![]() | ![]() Congratulations Brian and Emily! You guys did great! I have been training for triathlon season so long, and don't really feel like I can say I'm a triathlete yet (first race is the 15th)...I bet it feels good to get the first one under your belt! Actually did you say, Brian, that you had done triathlons years ago??? Sorry I've been out of touch. I found out last week that my mom has pancreatic cancer, it has spread to her liver and kidneys, and there will be no surgery or chemo. She will have a biopsy of her liver/kidneys on Wednesday to find out how long she has left. In the mean time I put a trip to Europe on hold for us. September was the earliest I could get...and she'll need to get a passport as well. She has never been out of the US and I'd like to do that. We haven't lived in the same state since 1991 and haven't kept in close contact either. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she'll be able to travel in September. I also planned another trip for early August for the whole family to fly out. And in training-related news: I ran a half marathon on Saturday--came in last in my age group but still a PR for me (2:39:33). I also did a rehearsal for the triathlon I'm doing next Sunday. I couldn't really run, being sore from the 1/2 mary, but did sashay some, run backwards, and do grapevines. It was with my tri group, all females that I know fairly well, so I didn't feel too foolish. I finished my swim (big accomplishment there as I had been having asthma attacks in the open water) and averaged 18.5 mph on my bike for the 17 mile course. I'm tired today |
