I was out mattress shopping w/ my daughter. She's showing signs of being my daughter: she researched options on the internet and locations of the stores, knew her options and prices and what she wanted (but tested all of them just to be sure) and we brought it home. A total of 10 minutes in the store That's my kind of shopping! |

Collapsing after trying to learn how to use my aero bars! oh wow! how did that go? I have yet to venture down that path Not so bad, I guess. Actually I'm amazed at the difference they make! The bad part was when I was "screaming" (i.e., riding faster than I really like) and a car passed me. I decided I needed to come off the bars and was pretty wobbly. But I made it successfully! The bad news is that I have a problem with my derailleur. Hopefully I can get this fixed post haste -- race in a little over a week! good job on the ride! so, can you describe why/how they made a difference? The first and biggest difference is that using them adds 1-2 mph to my speed, just by riding in the aero position. And when I'm in that position, my heart rate is lower -- an added benefit that should help with endurance and stamina. And the final difference is a big one for me, but won't necessarily help anyone else -- I have some issues with my left forearm and my neck (left overs from a car accident) and this position takes pressure off both. So with all of this I can't believe it took me this long to try it! |

Extreme Veteran 416 Mercer Island, WA | Subject: RE: Cheesecake Lovers D001 - 2008-06-11 7:49 PM runrachierun - 2008-06-11 5:15 PM I do need to talk with someone about adjusting my goals...it looks like I am out until at least the weekend. I have bronchitis and everyone up here in the Pacific Northwest is coming down with pneumonia...two people in my running club have it. So, I continue to have significant chest pain and difficulty breathing, so I am NOT going to push myself. What can I do? First of all, and most importantly: YOUR HEALTH COMES FIRST. If you have chest pain and breathing difficultly, you are right -> Do NOT push yourself. (You should probably also think about seeing a doctor!) Next: DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE CHALLENGE. As stated in #1: "Your health comes first." Therefore, I have "greyed out" your percentages on the spreadsheet. Your goals are still listed. (Just not your progress towards them.) So here's "a plan:" 1) Go get healthy. 2) When you are healthy, come back and we will discuss revising your goals. 3) If you decide at some point that you'd rather withdraw from the challenge, let me know and I will drop you (with no penalty to your team). Chest pain and difficulty breathing, to me, as serious issues. Do what you need to do to get better. Worst case, we'll drop you from the challenge, and name you "Cheesecake Cheerleader!: - Dee Thank you, Dee. I am feeling much better today, although I still have some issues to resolve. I will gladly be a Cheesecake cheerleader! |

I think that may be an upgrade not too far in the future for me! GO TEAM!! Almost HALF WAY! I have found the morning commute is golden, but the evening kicks my bippee every day! I like the fact that I am having to train in the afternoon/evening when I generally don't. I think that is a big part of it and I know my body will adapt the more I keep it up! Great job on the commute. We have a challenge if you want to jump in. We take all past commutes as well and it is self monitored so check us out if you want! Yes, I am hoping that my body will adapt the more I do it! I am hoping to keep up the 3 days a week and possibly 4 a week! I need to drive Mondays to stock the fridge at work... a girls gotta eat! Thanks for the motivation, I will check out your challenge! |

Elite 3471 Evergreen, CO | Subject: RE: Cheesecake Lovers My commute is only 2.5 miles -- hardly worth getting on the bike for! But I guess I could take the long way in. I'm used to riding roads, but not at commuting time when drivers are applying mascara and calling the office while driving.... I'll just take the whole road to make sure they see me |
