This one actually had what I was looking for, ike a typical government site it took a while to find it though. Now I'll create a new food log with my recommended limits printed on it. After my weigh-in on Monday if it's really bad news I'll have to restart using a food log. I fully expect that my activity level will be up to where it should be in a month or two.

I'm looking seriously at the Rock and Roll Half Marathon in Chicago on 02 Aug. as a stepping stone to the Chicago Marathon in October. Starting now I see no reason I can't be up to those distances by those dates

Had a pretty good week of workouts though I've cut back on running 'cuz my knee is bothering me. I spend a lot of time standing on concrete floors at work and that may be the culprit.

Did not get to my hoped for total for swimming, but the good news is I did get on the bike three times which is a LOT more than I've been doing lately. Jeez, if I am really going to do an Olympic distance race in 12 weeks I should be riding more.

Have a good week everybody!

So I ran today in my new zones and Z2 was hard for me and I felt way more comfy w/ my HR around 140-145 Do you think I should re-test at another time? Should I use my old zones for now? The techy stuff is definatly where I need some guidance.

I'm gonna need help with nutrition for my marathon and then again for my HIM.  I hate gels. Can I do it all on liquid, or will that kill my gut?

Got my body fat done today.  Not as bad as I thought.  My gut is average, my tri's and thighs (holy crap) are leaner than average.  Gonna work on those love handles.  The pikes seem to work.  I can totally feel the work the day after.

I can't do gels either, I've been doing bananas.
You can try a mix of banana, dates, and celery for electrolytes. I can find the exact recipe for you if you'd like. But you'd blend it all up and put it in a hammer flask or something like that.

CanI ask what your BF was?  you can pm me- or you can tell me to F off

I am doing my marathon on just infinite.  I did all the bike for IM on infinite and a Cliff Mojo bar.   Id have done the run on it if I would have carried it with me... but didnt want to.

Favorite is powrbar gels- they arent so think and yucky.  I dont love gels but I got used to the,  I LOVE shot blocks- have youtried those?

I think you can get by on a HIM without them- but you need to find SOMETHING.

I have a marathon calorie calculater somewhere- Ill look

Oh good!

Just for later, what zone should I be in for tempo?

I am feeling so beat today. My body feels beat up still from the LT test I did on Sat. I'm wondering if I over did it last week. I'm thinking I need a training plan. My first tri or du if I chicken out will be 5/9 and it will be sprint distance. I was planning on Oly distance for late June. But I guess it all depends on if I decide on tri's or du's. Also, How can I work a HM plan into it?

By the way, I have a real fear of the open water especially if it is moving water. (but I love the pool) I figured that out the other day when we drove past a fast flowing dam and I almost had an anxiety attack looking at it. This is a fear that I've always had though I'm just now realizing it. I am so afraid of choking in water that is over my head. Is that inevitable or avoidable?

tempos should be done at 10K pace...close to LT.  Mine are in high Z4- low Z5

Your tri isnt going to be in MOVING  open water- is it???  Find a nice calm lake to practice in.  I loike OWS a lot- I mean A LOT more then pool swimming.

and you will NOT chicken out

Second on the shot bloks, gel caused some major problems for me.

How many Mojo bars did you eat on the bike for IM?  I ate bananas until they ran out and then I was in trouble.  Took a gel in Cross Plains and the fun began.

Does anyone wear both a Garmin and a Polar for running?  Any problems with signal interference?  The reason I ask is that the only HR monitor strap that works well for me is the Polar coded one with the soft strap.  The one that comes with the Garmin 305 is the similar to the old Polar strap that didn't pick up very well due to my lack of width.

You're right! I WILL NOT chicken out!
I live right near lake champlain ( I can see it from my house) and there are lots of smaller lakes around here so I will find someone to swim with (once it is warmer and they aren't frozen of course) and I've already asked my dh to kayak with me while I swim.
I am hoping I will love it too.

I love shot bloks too! and sharkies are also good.

I just ate one bar and I did grab bananas whenver I could also.  My infinit bottles were almost 250 cal each.  I believe I had 4 bottles but didnt finish the last one cuz I had to pee  (I should have peed and finished it though)  I also had combos in my bento box- but didnt eat them either

My garmin strap doesnt fit me either- everyone laughs at me cuz I pin it...and Im not that small (well by BUST is- but Im not...you know- youve seen me)....try a safelty pin!!!
