TOPpage Well, I always train with music but I don't seem to miss it during races. I did do my first marathon last year with the ipod. I will be going ipodless Sunday. 26.2 miles with my own unpredictable thoughts seems daunting you doing a Marathon Sunday? Im doing the smaller Half! bet you still beat me to the finish line! haha |

Anyone else ever played? It's on a tennis court (with different lines than tennis) with paddles kind of like ping-ping paddles and a wiffle ball. The wiffle ball makes it interesting because alittle wind really affects the game. I was never any good at tennis, but pickleball is fun. The group we play with isn't too serious about it and they're crazy enough to play even though it's 40 degrees. We have the tennis courts to ourselves, because all the tennis players left for Florida after Labor Day. I was inside and didn't see it, but my daughter hung out after school to watch the boys' soccer game and said it snowed for about 5 minutes. The new season is fall, right? Not winter? 'cause it feels like winter out there. Yea snow! We were watching the Gore Mountain site and they said snow for Wednesday! We are hoping for a Thanksgiving opening...... At the rate we're going they'll have a Halloween opening. (But not earlier, since I'm supposed to run a 5K there on the 11th.) Whiteface in Lake Placid got it's first snow on the ground. Which reminds me that my skis need sharpening. The Leaf cruncher? That is a great race! I see you are no longer driving north....Where are you? We have a cabin in Indian Lake and are up there as much as we can be. I love cycling rt 28 between IL and North Creek, can't beat that elevation drop. Ride into town and stop at Sarah's Bakery..........to fuel for the long climb back to IL. cabin....sista you never told me....is there a reason! haha like you dont want me to visit!!!! sounds like a great place! I love drops - nothing better then a screamer downhill....and Sarahs Bakery sounds like a must have....but the ride back UP...I will need some cheese with my whine! |

TOPpage I always ran with music until one day I just forgot my iPod and didn't miss it at all. Now I leave it home unless I'm having one of those days where I'm not very motivated to get out and run. My husband hates that I stopped running with music. With all that time to think, I keep coming up with projects to add to his to-do list. haha....no wonder my husband is always in front the tube watching sports! I dont have enough on his "honey do" list! may have to lose it for a run a week...so I can up that list!! thanks for the recommendation! he will not be thanking you of course! |

I need to find some good workout tunes. I have a huge mix on mine! but I have to say if it is slow moving...Im slow moving! if it is upbeat...I seem to have more of a kick in my run... definitely helps me to move quicker... some of my faster moving songs are like the stray cats, b52's, red hot chile peppers, talking heads... |

I live in the city and use it to drown out the noise! If I am at the cabin and running the trails then no music just nature! It is my favorite place to run! Just wish it wasn't 4 hours away! cabin.....sounds like many of us have cabins...any others? time to do a cabin swap! |

The one in Tempe, AZ. I'm from PA but I needed something to shoot for over the winter so I picked there. I try to stay just off of the middle, so cars would be oncoming but sometimes I drift. Also, where I live there are no lines on the roads and a lot of people just drive down the middle. Even if I'm on my side of the road I feel more comfortable knowing I can hear a car coming. |

Champion 7546 Santa Cruz, California | Subject: RE: Team 3 Halloween Run Challenge aspeelma - 2009-10-01 6:38 AM I'm relatively new to this whole thing, I did most of my running last year inside on a treadmill, I'd rather not do that if I don't have to. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to wear as to run outside when the weather gets colder? I'm especially concerned on how to keep my feet warm. layer...layer....layer! that way you can take off as needed and tie around your waist. as for feet..the do have some toe warmer running socks. but since I dont have too cold weather here I dont know.... and as for the rain...I have found that I find my childhood all over again when I go and run in the rain....great fun as long as my feet dont get tooooo sopping wet! what size are you...I am about to pay forward in the classifieds a bunch of clothing...some is almost new! and some is! |
