Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Excellent, thanks Phil. Thanks for thinking of my daughter and thanks for the advice on the fuel. You've been a great help to me during my quest for my first sprint triathlon, not only finishing, but finishing strong. I've already registered for the next sprint in May. Sahuarita, Arizona 20 miles south of Tucson. Another print but this one is open water swim in a lake. I love this stuff!! I believe it not only helps me physically, but mentally, emotionally and spiritually as well. Take care. Edited by Masi 68 2010-01-28 1:31 PM |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sorry Bruce, I think I called you William earlier. I was thinking of "Hard Charger" Devil Dog, William. The former Marine with the pic of the Chimp holding the beer. I must have got confused. Thanks a million Bruce, thanks for your kind thoughts and words. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well somthing must be starting to click because I set another PR this week over last weeks time. My breathing is starting to realy feel great the Inhaler must be working its magic... I improved about 15 seconds a mile still run walking 4/1 ran the 5k distance in 31:43 @ 10:32 pace. No more fast runs this week. (fast for me right now anyway) I plan to slow it way down and roll a few 4 to 7 mile runs at easy pace rest of the week. Edited by SAWFISH50 2010-01-28 2:25 PM |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I ran an easy 5 miles last night. tried to keep HR in 140's If it rose to 150 I stoped and walked til it droped back to the 120's and then ran again. Concentrated on my form I'm working on some small refinements that are really making improvements. It is turning cold today and it is raining so looks like Trainer ride and soem strength training. Have a good Friday all.. |

Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() This morning was cold about 17F. This might have been my coldest run this year. I wrapped up pretty good and was comfortable the whole way except when the air really whipped up. My only problem was keeping my face warm. The neck gaiter I have is too thick to breath through so it was up and down the whole run. I'll be looking for a thinner one this weekend. I really like running in the cold. |

I read the first page but will go back and read it all tonight. Very good info.. I was wondering where you were. Had not seen you around this week.. Good day today. I got in a 90 min swim this morning. Its coming. I am as far away as I can be but its coming. Im able to do 5-8 laps now without gassing and the breathing is really coming along. I am working with the swim buoy a little and had a coach look at my stride. We are going to work on it a few days next week. I am feeling better about it.. This afternoon, I got in a 5 mile run on the treadmill. 5 miles in 48 mins. Looks like my pace is locked. I need to read the thread Gogogo posted. hahaha... Its going to be cold here in Ga this weekend so I have 4 very good workouts planned. Also, I am finally getting on a real PLAN !!!! Thanks Phil and Nicki for your help !!!!!!! Cant wait.... Have a great weekend people.. |

Have a good Friday all..[/QUOTE That good heart rate control.. Mine is getting up there on my runs still. I am doing the 3-1 walk run but I am getting in the 160's during the end of my run then dropping down to the 130's during my walk. I am still running at the same pace for the three mins (8.25 mile pace) so I guess i need to start to do some slow steady runs to try and control it. At the beginning of my run today, I put the treadmill on 6mph (10 min mile) and ran for 15 mins. My heart rate stayed very consistent from 140-145. When it would get up a little, I would work with my breathing and bring it back down. I could not get it in the 130's though. 140 seem to be the stopping point. Anyway, I would be interested in seeing what would happen if I put the treadmill on a 10.5-11 min mile and just ran for a hour. Tracking my heart rate... I would think I could keep it down but I just dont know |

Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I think I found my limit for the cold, 12F. I got out onto one of the bigger roads I run on and when the wind picked up it was brutal. Doesn't mean I'm giving up - just have to adjust my plan for the next time. |

I'd tell you that I would have turned around and went back home but that would be a lie because I'd have never left the house. LOL!! Coldest it usually gets around here is 30's and then are treadmill days. Way to go buddy keep up the hard work. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good job on the swim. I need to do that, swim longer. I've just been swimming a 200 yard breast to warm up then 1000 yards crawl stroke or freestyle, watever you want to call it. I need way more work in the pool. Thanks for the motivation. |

Coldest it usually gets around here is 30's and then are treadmill days. Way to go buddy keep up the hard work. Don't worry - I cut my run way short this morning. Before I left the house I planned on 6 miles, then I got outside and I said probably 3, then the wind picked up and I bailed at 1 mile. 1/2 mile to get home and that was it. I have to go to Dick's and look for something to cover my face that I can breathe through. Tomorrow is my long run. 12 miles. Hopefully it will be closer to 20F, I can handle that. |

Great job with the swim. I can't comfortably breathe on my right yet. What I've noticed though is that as I get better and calmer and more comfortable in the pool I can got 4 strokes per breath and sometimes 6 without feeling out of breath. Bilateral breathing is supposed to be good for open water swims so if you can do every 3rd stroke, that will help you out later. |
