LanierSpots - 2010-03-28 7:15 PM Yea, that sux about the job.  I can relate to your decision.  12 years ago, I made the decision to stop working for corporate america and work for myself.  I have never looked back

Got in a nice 8 mile run this morning.  Raining all day so I hit the treadmill.  It is getting harder and harder to do these long runs on the treadmill.

On a better note, I spent the last three weeks cutting some weight.  I changed my diet a little and have lost close to 10 pounds.  I am down under 210 now and will resume my normal diet starting this week...  The weight loss feels better on my legs..  Hopefully, I will be between 200 and 205 when I do my HIM in 7 weeks.  I am sure I will continue my .5-1 pound per week loss..   I am feeling strong right now adding in the few hours per week of weight training.  Hopefully, I will have no endurance loss due to the weight loss.

What did you change up to loose the 10 pounds?

William, I cut down on my night time meals, cut out the trail mix (I really miss that too) and added 3 days per week (75 mins each) of weight training.   I also had a good many fat burning runs and rides.   I am down close to where I wanted to be today at 206 pounds.  I will add back in my night time meals and up my fat intake starting today.  I still feel strong which is what I was worried about.  My run yesterday felt much better.  I was a little more soft footed.   My energy level has been fine as well..

I swam this morning and will do weight training tonight.  I have plenty of food today.  I will see if I can hold the 205-210 for a few weeks if I get back on my 3500-4000 calorie intake like I have been for the past 10 weeks.  Even with that many calories, I have been dropping 1 pound per week.  If I can just hold, I will be satisfied..

Well at least you didn't have to quit drinking beer LOL!!

I did 30 minuets on the Rowing Machine tonight pushed the pace a litter harder than last time and bet my 30 minuit PR by 200 Meters. Rowing machines are a heck of a workout.

This week I start tapering down my mileage. OH and I just noticed that I'll Hit 100 Miles this month its my first 100 Mile Month... Ever..

Nice work William - its quite an accomplishment to hit 100 miles/month, especially with work/life/other training going on.  So how long until a hundred mile week? Laughing

Thanks, 100 a week....Probably Never LOL!!

I'll take a while after this 25K race and level out at the 25 miles a week or so and let my body get good and adapted to that load. I pushed up the mileage pretty good in the last several weeks for this race but I used the Run/Walk for all the long runs to avoid overload and injury. After a several more weeks at this mileage and as long as I still feel good I'll slowly push my mileage up towards the 35 miles a week and a slow long run build up towards a fall Marathon or 50K.
I'm using Jeff Galloways training plan which is long run every other week up till 20 miles then the long run is done every 3rd week.  I'm more concerned with building up endurance and staying injury free than Hauling AZZ at this stage of the game.

WAY TO GO WILLIAM.  DUDE, THAT IS AWESOME.......

Sounds like you are on track for your race.   Dont back down too much.   Just keep at it...  You will do fine..

I had a nice brick workout this afternoon.  50 mins on the bike then 40 mins run.  These bricks are getting much easier.  My legs have had no problem with it at all.  I think its time for a long one to see how I will hold up after a few hours on the bike..

Me too William.  I am planning on a full Marathon this fall. A friend of mine and I are talking about buying a number for the New York Marathon and doing that one.  That would be a blast for my first marathon..

Gratz on running a 100 miles this month.

Welcome back from vacation Phil.

Did 30 miles on the MTB on the trainer tonight.

Oh and I signed up for the Atomic Man Duathlon that is Apr. 25.  So I am going to have to lengthen my runs and hopefully get out side to do some real riding soon.

Yea I'd like to do a big Marathon one day I'm sure with all the people there is alot of energy and it would be alot of fun.  But on the flip side of that I hate the logistics of an event like that.  Just getting to the race, finding parking and making your way to the start line is a big pain in the AZZ... & dont even think about having to pee at the last minute LOL!!  I have a Friend that does the Houston Marathon every year and He said after the first year he didnt even want to do it again it was such a big Pain just to get to the start line.  He ended up making a Hotel resivation in Downtown about a block from the start line and reserves it every year so all he does is arrive a day early and walks a block to the start line on race day... that I could handle..

I Think the Disney marathon would be a cool one to do if you stayed near the park cause they have suttles and all to get you from parking to where you need to be.  Plus running a Marathon in the Majic Kingdom would be the Ultimate If you get your medal from Mickey Mouse :-

Good totals with all the bad weather you have had.

I walked about 3 miles with my dad yesterday, they live in Austin Texas and their Neighborhood has some killer hills the road down to their boat ramp is about 1/4 mile long and STeeeP.  road to the marina is same way but about a mile long so this was a good walk.  We got home last night and Today I did 5 miles on the Treadmill at my usual slow easy pace.  Thursday I rolled my ankle sepping off a trailer on a rock and thought I had messed it up, no swealing but I took a few days off running to make sure it is fine and to enjoy the Holiday with the family.

Happy easter all!!

Happy Easter to everyone.

Hope your ankle feels better soon.

Strained my back last Wednesday and haven't ran since doesn't seem to effect my cycling to much but hoping it gets well enough soon to get back to running.  Three weeks and counting to my next duathlon, so I need the run training.

Where has everyone gone??

Was riding herd over a rather large Easter lunch.  We can comfortably seat 13 people for a big meal - my job was to bend the laws of time and space and fit 18 people in.  Not quite loaves & fishes, but once it was accomplished the wife calmed down and was able to relax.

Got my first bike ride in this morning - it was much later than I wanted to start, so I went to our local "multi-use" trail to get it done.  Mostly uneventful except for someone who decided to just wander across the path without looking.  Have to get up earlier tomorrow so I can hit the roads before traffic. really starts.

No, read post by Ron.

He details: disbanding group, joining another group, continuing group with mentor or alone in Mentor archives.

It's up to the individual groups.

R

The next groups last until June/July & then the groups will have the option of continuing, etc
