Finished an interval run after work...then showered up before a 7:30 softball game

Then I find out that we actually have a 7:30 and 8:30 double header.  It was raining off and on the whole night.

We lost the first game in extra innings.

Won the second game...forget by how much...probably about 3.

I'm hoping the rain lets up.  We haven't been getting a lot of rain this year, so it's good in a way to keep everything green...but bad for going out on rides.

We'll see tomorrow morning when I wake up at 5 am if it's clear...then I gotta wait and see if my 10am softball game is on too...

Yep!  I'm doing a time trial tomorrow morning if it doesn't rain.  Wish me luck!

Have a great time this morning!

brick94513 - 2010-03-05 12:09 PM Anybody else racing this weekend?

I think Owl Girl mentioned a TT.  Anyone else?

I have my very first tri on the 21st...a sprint...the first of 16 races planned so far.  4 tris, 4 OWS, 7 road runs, 1 century.

That's a busy season.  You have a lot of running races.  Is that your background?

My season is busy...but most of my races aren't A races...a lot of C races.  And it's fairly cheap because two of them are series.

The OWS are 4 races, 1, 1.2, 1.6, and 2.3 mile swims for $99...all with t-shirts.  And 5 of my runs are a series, 15k, 20k, 25k, 30k, and a HM for $99...all with shirts.  So yeah...$198 for 9 races and 9 shirts...DEAL

So it's really just a way to make sure I stick to my training.  I find that it's a good excuse to go home early when friends are giving you peer pressure to stay out late.

Running isn't really my background...I was always athletic, but until last year, I was "none of the above" when it came to tri sports.

I'm really stuffing a lot into this season just to build strength, endurance, speed, and experience...not necessarily to race fast...next year I'm targeting a HIM in June, and possibly an IM in the fall...so I'll be cutting my race schedule down and focusing more on the quality of my races.

That is a great deal on the races.  Very sound strategy not treating them all as A races.

I come from the same "none of the above" background.  Team sports in high school.  Got fat in college.  Then took up running and started tris.

brick94513 - 2010-03-05 7:37 PM Alright TWISTERS, double swims today.  I liked it!  It allowed me to go a little longer without the fatigue I usually experience.  I think my plan will be to do double swims once a week, in addition to my regular sets, for the rest of the month.

Thanks to everyone pushing the internal swim competition I racked up 11,700 yards this week!  Now, if I can just get the rain to stay away, I can get to work on that bike goal!

Nice job!  I still don't like swimming enough to do 2 workouts in a day

disturbed275 - 2010-03-05 4:30 PM Dinner tonight is an almost ready digiorno's pizza.  Friday is my one day a week to not worry about what I eat.  I'm not gonna lie, I will probably eat the whole thing

Funny....  I took the kids to pizza tonight too.  My appetitie is quite ravenous after today's swimming.

We also had pizza last night too but it wasn't very good pizza. Very disappointing when you cheat on your diet and the food stinks.

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-06 9:35 AMHey TWISTER's just got back from possibly my last snowmobile trail bike ride of the winter.  It was beautiful but sad in a sadistic type of way.  I am going to miss that part of my training but it will return next winter.  It has been a blast!

Off to a basketball league meeting - see you later!
I do think that winter can be beautiful. Love to run and watch snow slowly drifting down to the ground. Very peaceful and calming. Makes for a good run. If it just wasn't so dang cold. I can't really complain though. We've had a pretty mild winter this year.

Had to go pick my son up this morning so I haven't been able to work out yet and now we're heading out to family stuff. It might be a late night run tonight. Don't know if I will get the bike ride in. We'll see how it goes.

Just completed a phone survey for my local gym. They just finished paying off some local bonds they used for past development and now have extra money. Sounds like they have some good plans. We'll see what they decide to do and how long it will take. You know how government work goes.

I did the time trial this morning!  I beat the record for women 30 to 39!  I almost beat the women's overall record!  Perfect day!   Race report won't be up for a couple days but you can read about it in my log.

So it was still pouring rain when I woke up this morning.  So I figured the group ride was cancelled.  But it let up in time for my softball game to be on...it's actually nice and sunny out now.  I was thinking of still going out on a solo ride, but instead I think I'm going to play some basketball this afternoon.  Haven't done that in a LONG time.  I used to play 3 times a week, but haven't played very much at all lately.

If the weather holds up tomorrow, I'll go out on another group ride to make up the miles

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-06 5:45 PM Thanks to whoever posted the swim plan in here - I did 2500 yards today.  Another new record for me - and I felt pretty strong the whole time through.

Guess to be a good swimmer - you need to train like a swimmer!

You're welcome! Laughing
