Elite![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() brick94513 - 2010-04-04 2:02 PM We're getting close to the start of race season! Does anyone have races this month? I'l be racing in the Sea Otter XC race for sure. I can't make my mind up if I want to travel to Vegas for the XTERRA Western Regional Championships. No easing into the season if I decide on that one. It will have competitors from across the US. May will definately be busy. I have J-hawk early bird....swim is in a pool then bike run outdoors. This was my first tri ever and just can't see missing it...although the spring has gotten competitive! All the top agers come to get a feel for where they are for the season! I placed 2nd in age last fall have no idea where I will come in spring! Last year I think I took 8th in age! |

Thanks - you should have seen the sunrise I had yesterday morning on my run before service. OMG - it stopped me in my tracks and I just stood there staring in awe. I never run with my camera but I am going to from now!!! Words do not describe or do it justice!!! That is why I love running early mornings up north..it is tooooo beautiful! Also love all the wildlife I see in the trails there. Don't have much of that here in the city but I have been running through the parks more (just not early) |

The sweat training with Lauren and Tri Faster was tooooo much fun! We did a lecture first then onto the scale, into the pool for a 45 min swim...I so wish I could remember laps! I want to know how far I went! I felt great in the water. then onto the scale again (have I mentioned I hate the scale?) then Lauren did some math to figure out our sweat rate Mine is 1#/hour or 16 oz of fluid that I release during swimming, then into our bike clothes, I just wore my tri-suit the whole time, so onto the scale again, then on the bike for 1 1/2 hours keeping our HR in z2 and 3. 1.34 #/hour or 16oz/hour for the bike(Lauren lead a great class, gave pointers for while on the rd and also how to train more efficient on the trainer during the winter. Then onto the scale again. transition to the run, on the scale then for a run it was supposed to be 40 min but we got a late start, I wasn't paying attention to my time and should have gone for a full 30 min but stopped at 28min! 2#/hr or 32oz for the run! I sweat a lot!!! Not that I didn't know this but didn't realize how much more I should be drinking. It was a great training and I felt great through it all, makes me feel better for my longer races! Followed the training with great family time at the Bucks game! Wow!! That sounds like a pretty intense day! That's kind of cool to test how much you're sweating so that you know how much you should be hydrating! yep the whole purpose of the training is to nail down nutrition for long races. Now to start trying different combos of stuff! |

My wife and son are off to go visit a college that my son is considering so I'll be on my own tonight and tomorrow. I'm going to go find a DVD or something to relax before going to bed. Have a fun evening and we'll chat in the morning. sorry to hear of the bummer Easter...was it at least a good movie? |

Our family lives about 400 miles south of us, plus my wife had to go to work today. So, the boys and I had Easter dinner at a friend's house. While it was nice, it sure doesn't compare to those big family gatherings. (((Hugs))) to those not with family for Easter. Mom mom is in FL and I miss her too. Work on Easter? I have to say I was shocked to see so many stores open yesterday....and all the cars in the parking lots! |

Followed the training with great family time at the Bucks game! Not sure if thiswill help, but I count by hundreds in the pool... 1,2,3, 100, 1,2,3, 200, 1,2,3, 300.... If I'm swimming a really big set, I will finish every 100 with site breathing to help me keep the numbers straight. Just thought I would share. Works for me. I've tried just about everything! I will start counting then wonder is the lap I'm on 100 or did I just finish 100, or is it the next lap...then I realize I have flipped and the whole process starts over! I have tried a lap counter and forget to push the button. I have tried things on the deck but I don't like to stop to move it over. I think I am hopeless when it comes to counting! That is why I got the nike ipod for my running even when I was doing laps on the track I would loose count! |
