deehtz - 2010-04-03 10:06 PM Well, I did it!  I am now a triathlete!  My race report is up if you want to read about it.  I did okay.  I finished 2/5 in my division and 36/48 in the women..... all mtn bike division.  I am okay with that for a first time and being in the oldest age division.

I am going to bed now.  Good night, Ghoulies!

That's AWESOME Dee! I can't wait to join you in the triathlete category in June.

kimk - 2010-04-04 7:16 AM I had the best day yesterday! The sweat training with Lauren and Tri Faster was tooooo much fun! We did a lecture first then onto the scale, into the pool for a 45 min swim...I so wish I could remember laps! I want to know how far I went! I felt great in the water. then onto the scale again (have I mentioned I hate the scale?) then Lauren did some math to figure out our sweat rate Mine is 1#/hour or 16 oz of fluid that I release during swimming, then into our bike clothes, I just wore my tri-suit the whole time, so onto the scale again, then on the bike for 1 1/2 hours keeping our HR in z2 and 3. 1.34 #/hour or 16oz/hour for the bike(Lauren lead a great class, gave pointers for while on the rd and also how to train more efficient on the trainer during the winter.  Then onto the scale again. transition to the run, on the scale then for a run it was supposed to be 40 min but we got a late start, I wasn't paying attention to my time and should have gone for a full 30 min but stopped at 28min! 2#/hr or 32oz for the run! I sweat a lot!!! Not that I didn't know this but didn't realize how much more I should be drinking.  It was a great training and I felt great through it all, makes me feel better for my longer races! Followed the training with great family time at the Bucks game!

Sounds like a killer training session Kim! That's a LOT of SBR for a non-race day. I'd love to do something like that sometime.

Well Ghoulies

It's not a holiday unless someone gets mad, right?

I was going to run the Unite HM with NJKim in April. My brother said they were going to have his son's first birthday that Sunday so I said I wouldn't run then and I signed up for the PGH HM May 2nd.

Today he told us that the birthday party is now May 1st at 4:00. My sister and I both said "what?" at the same time.

Then we both told him we couldn't be there. He told me I should go to PGH (4 hour drive) pick up my packet, drive home for the party, then drive back for the race. I told him no. My husband may still take the kids and go.

My sister's son is in a Lego club. They spent the entire school year working on a Lego project and that day is the competition. They are going to go to that.

I tried to be accommodating the first time. I'm not doing all that driving in one day, especially the day before a race. They want to have the party at a certain restaurant and they never called to book it until last week.

Other than that Easter went well. We had a house full. I didn't burn any food, and there was plenty. And we also had 300 eggs for 6 kids to hunt. Yeah, they made out well. Plus they all got baskets from everyone, too.

I hope everyone else had the beautiful 75 degrees and sun that we had today.

Happy Easter Ghoulies. No way I can catch up on all the comings and goings of the last couple days, BUT Congrats to Dee for her first Tri and Way to Go to Robin for HTFU points.  Hope you're feeling better. Stacie, handsome boys all around.  You deserve to be proud. Bill, nice way to start the day.  Melindy, you just continue to ROCK.  Amy & Neal, hope you are out there chomping chocolate bunny ears.  Donkey Kim, welcome back! We missed you.

Ann, I am with you on family drama.  Won't offer up all the gory details, but it involves:  jobs, money, colleges, money, jobs, and so on.  It appears that I will have my sisters two youngest the weekend of the Unite HM.  I am thrilled to have them ANY time.  We never have enough time together.  My niece is graduating from Catholic school 8th grade and wants to go shopping with me for her dress.  I am really looking forward to that. They live in BFE (I do learn) and I live in shopping mecca. So we can do lots of fun things in NYC on Friday and Saturday.  However, it does present a dilemma with regards to the HM.  I really can't leave them alone while I run.  So, I'm working on finding someone to go with us to the race and keep an eye on them.  I ran 10 yesterday and felt good.  I really, really don't want to bail on another HM that I have actually trained for and am ready to run.  Good grief.

Ann, I hope things work out for you.  Famdam*ily drama is exhausting.

Hmmm. Sorry about the drama, Ann. If it helps any, we had a little drama here, too. And there's only me, the hubby, and the kids this year.

Would 45 and cloudy be ok? With the remnants of the snow that has fallen the last few days?

My 7 year old got cycling gloves at the Pearl Izumi outlet, then the bunny brought him this bike jersey. It's after 7 PM and he still hasn't changed out of his pj's/jersey/gloves outlet. Think he likes them? Cool

So I was loading my bike into my car today and I kind of banged it going into the trunk...and then I apologised out loud to it...I think something along the lines of "oops, sorry, its okay" is what came out...

Apparently I'm crazy...haha...QQTD: Do you talk to your bike?
