Still moving after a very long weekend, stayed up to late and had alittle to much fun.  Open house was a big success, everyone is very happy it is over!

My rides are getting stonger - runs feeling better no more wierd pains.  Thanks goodness.  This week swimming in the afternoons!  Can't wait.

Does everyone own a wet suit?

I own one.  I got a really good deal from Xterra - they often offer 50% off if you are on their email list.

There are a lot of options to rent them, but you definitely want to make sure you swim in at least once before using it in race.

Sitting in a hotel resting after a day of pre-riding tomorrow's race course.  We have 3 races this weekend.  Tomorrow is a 15 mile cross country race.  Then Sunday is a 12 min plus 2 lap short course sprint followed by a single track downhill time trial in the afternoon.

This is the start of a very busy chunk of racing. 8 races in 6 weeks.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend of Training, Racing, and/or Relaxing.......

Exactly two weeks from today and I'll be completing my very first sprint triathlon!!!  SO stoked!

Is there anything special I should be doing / should know in these last two weeks leading up to my first sprint triathlon?

Relax......Focus.....Don't get over stressed about it.

Practice your T1 and T2 a few times.  Making sure you have everything and put everything on in the right order.

Lay in bed at night and "Do" your Tri in your head. Think about your swim....Do all your T1 steps....Think about riding....Do all your T2 steps.....Think about your run.......and Don't forget to think about your Podium!!!!!!!!!

Artemis - 2011-06-28 10:42 AM Wade, what are you going to do when you don't have a countdown anymore?

Shhhh... Don't say that. Next thing ya know he'll be counting down to next years race. lol

Anyway, just thought I'd check in. Been working and training my a$$ off. It's the busy tourist season here and I'm working an average of 55-60 hours a week. Plus training after work. I try to get my time in on the bike and treadmill every day with one off day. I do 20 miles on the bike and at least 5 miles on the treadmill every day. I will be swimming next week. I just haven't had the time.

I finally get my new road bike next week. woohoo! I can then switch my bike rides to the morning and increase my distance. My tri is Aug. 14th and I'm chomping at the bit. I plan on doing either a 35 mile or 75 mile bike around Lake Tahoe in Sept. There is also a tri that spans 3 days, but I opted for the bike race. I will then have another tri in Oct. I will then be switching over to a HIM training plan (starting in Oct.) for next summer. I still plan to do a couple Oly's, but I have my ambitions set on a HIM in late summer.

I hope everyone is doing well and training hard.

18 Days....If anyone is really reading these.......

Totally still reading them, but it might be easier if you make the quote a little smaller.  It's making the page kind of wide.

How are you feeling about the race?  I'm guessing excited.

Wow!  Way to go!  It sounds like you're right on track!

Last night I had my very first experience with swimming in open water and swimming in a wetsuit.  Fortunately the weather was cold and rainy so I was the only student crazy enough to go out for the open water swim class.  Therefore, the class turned into a one on one!  Yay!  The wonderful instructor coached me on my stroke, sighting, breathing, etc.  She also iS familar with the sprint tri that I am doing next weekend and was able to give me some pointers about the location, transitions, etc.  Overall, it was such a wonderful experience and made me even MORE stoked about my triathlon!

I also bought a pair of Zoot tri shorts http://www.zootsports.com/spring2010/product/w-endurance-tri-short-8-s11?category=womens%2Ftriathlon-apparel

10 days until my very first sprint triathlon!

That sounds really helpful!!  Glad you are feeling positive about the swim and the tri.

I've heard good things about the Zoot shorts.  I love that they finally started making them with a longer inseam for women!!

How did I miss a post about a new bike?! What are you getting?

The bike race sounds fun!!  I know there are some winter maintenance plans here on BT.  They can be useful to keep you at a level (like Oly) before you start your HIM training plan.  With a fall HIM, you probably won't start a training plan until spring.

Ok, Stan is signed up for the July Tour de France biking challenge.  Anyone else want to join us?  It runs from July 2 - July 24.  You can set any goal you want!  Doesn't have to be big - mine will probably be biking 5 times for at least 30 minutes each.  It's a fun way to get to know some more people on BT.

My goal is bike everyday for 10 miles a day minimum. I'm sure there will be some longer rides though.

As for my training plan for HIM next fall, I have a 30 week HIM training plan that I'm going to follow. Since it just snows all winter, I need something to occupy my time. Also, I have an appointment with a nutritionist to help me. Plus, I plan on getting my run analyzed in Oct. to help me out.
