I ask because I have trained with TriDot this year for IMTX and the "long" sessions are NEVER stacked back to back. For example my 2:15 run is Wednesday next week. I will be riding 117+6 mile brick Saturday which is my 2nd of 4 race rehearsals. I have my first race rehearsal swim tomorrow - 180 laps oh joy! |

Unfortunately, with my time constraints during the week, the only time I have for long rides and runs is on the weekends. So I have been doing them on the weekends since I started training this year. We shall see how this weekend goes! I might have to re-think the strategy or shorten the run. At this point staying healthy is more important than a few additional miles. |

New user 4 Houston, TX | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread What are your plans for nutrition leading up to the race? I have 1.5 weeks of peak training left. Currently I can eat pretty much anything and burn it off but once I begin to taper I want to make sure I'm eating the right things to fuel me but not put the added pounds back on. Does anyone have a plan or a nutritionist? |

All I care about at this point One this note, wondering what others have to say about this: My longest run is scheduled for next week at 15 miles (2 days before 113+6 race rehearsal). Clearly that's a long way from 26.2. However, this is what the custom Gold plan on BT provided me. I'm not particularly fast (fastest of my two marathons in 2008 and 2009 was 4:57), which is what BT explained when I questioned it saying that running for much longer than that time-wise would take too much recovery time to insure good workouts in the other sports, but, especially if I'm run/walking that I could stretch it out a little. I agree about the recovery needed for longer timed runs to a certain extent, but admittedly, I might feel better emotionally to have an 18miler in the emotional bank. Clearly I'm only competing against myself in this race, so am I sweating it and just follow the plan to make sure I give myself the best chance to make it to the start line (I haven't had an real injury issues I'm dealing with...knock on wood)....especially considering I've completed marathons in the past? |

I have zero problem with 15 miles being your longest. If mentally you need to add 3 miles to the end of that there is no problem there either. Honestly if you train by TSS or time, my two preferred methods, you probably don't get much over 20. I've got a 3 hour run as my longest. If you know how to pace your day and your nutrition is on point it's just a mental game getting to the finish from there out. |

I track my cals. Try to keep my macro split to 60/20/20. Eat clean carbs and lean proteins. Get in plenty of veggies, well until race week and then I start to eliminate fiber. |

Going to do half on trainer and half outside. 13 mile run Not sure of which day I'll do those....just depends on weather. Also....is there anyway to find out what pro's are going to be at the race? I figured the bib # pdf would have them listed, but I didn't see it. |

Veteran 179 The Woodlands, Tx | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread #340. Just did my longest run for the training cycle - 20.0 miles and I felt great afterwards, legs a little tight and slightly dehydrated but I just watched my HR, consumed a salt tab every hour, had four gels, kept drinking and just put one foot in front of the other. I actually did 21.5 but I stopped the watch at 20. The last mile and a half was a slow jog for a good warm down. Lol...I freaking burned just over 3000 calories, my pace averaged 8:08 per mile. The long ride for the week is another 100+ on Saturday. Edited by JAngell 2013-04-18 3:54 PM |

Jordan Rapp doesnt have it listed on his website and has made comments on ST that although he likes the course, it didnt fit into his plan leading up to Kona this year. Or, something to that effect. Didnt they update the bib # list last year with about a week to go and it showed the pros on there? Not 100% sure, but I thought I saw them on the list at some point. |

You are perfectly fine if you have been sticking to the plan. I've pasted my longest run, to be completed on 4/24, for me per my TriDot plan below. This run will take me somewhere in the neighborhood short of 16 miles estimated. For reference, this plan got me to 5:10 finish when I was expecting something in the neighborhood of 5:30 at 70.3 Texas in Galveston a couple weeks ago. My run split was 1:38:44 using these run/walk training sessions. Obviously I ran the entire race though. ----------------------------------------- WU: 9 x 1 mile (1' fast walk) @ E |

Master 1468 Montgomery, Tx | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread Those of you riding the course in the morning you will be forced a slight route change when you get to montgomery. They are having there annual 5m/5k and lone star parkway is always closed at the 4 way stop. Last year I saw some people blow through the cones when the police were asking them to turn. Don't be those people. Turn right at the 4 way stop then next stop sign turn left at the shell station. Go to the light and you will be back to 149. It is only about an extra mile, but I do not want y'all to be alarmed. |

I heard they were able to light this part of the course somehow. |
