Subject: RE: 30 runs in 30 days - who's with us?TrBeau17 - 2012-10-18 2:41 PM I'd be curious to know for those of your that weren't elite runners when you started the 30 in 30 challenge, do you feel like your slow easy pace got faster without doing anything different? I finished the 30 / 30 a few days ago....I was an 8:15 - 8:30 average runner, depending on the day. I run in the high 7's for a few miles, but no more. During this challenge, I ran 8 miles with an average pace of 7:35...and had many other runs of several miles with all splits under 8:00. I think the key is to still "train". Don't do more than 1 long run per week and when you would normally take a "recovery" day after a long run, make sure you do a "recovery" run. This means not pushing too hard for 1 - 2 days after your long run. On my recovery runs, I would run 1:30+ per mile slower than my normal pace. I threw in a middle distance run in the middle of the week, then 2 more "easy" runs. * I think just running consistently will bring your times down. Be careful not to increase your weekly mileage too quickly if you decide to do this challenge - and Good Luck. *I am not a run coach - the above is just what I noticed and what I have been learning about my body and how it responds to running. ![](https://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/images/emoticons/smile.gif) |
