MONDAY CHECK IN!!!

So excited for Dave, Hilary, and Andria.  PR for Dave, and longest run ever for both Hilary and Andria!  Nice work gang.

I've been pushing workouts to the back burner thanks to a crazy work schedule, but I'm hoping that will be over this week.  Going to try to get back in the pool at lunch time today.

This week I'm going to get my thoughts together on coaching and why I hired a coach for IMWI.

Have a great week gang!

MONDAY CHECK IN!

Not much on tap for me today.  Just continuing to get the house ready to put on the market.  I will need to revamp my 2008 goals soon as I won't be in WI to participate in any of those races.  I changed my 1/2 mary plan back to a sprint plan.  I may try the Galveston, TX  sprint next month though I need to focus on swimming and biking now.  Maybe I'll get a run in later or hit the bike on the trainer.  Hope everyone had a good weekend!

MONDAY CHECK IN!!!

Woohoo Adria and Hilary - long runs - yes it's weird to actually enjoy them after where i was a few years back  too - ain't it fun!

Still pretty excited about effort yesterday. i KNOW I can run faster - just waiting on official results and I'll update the RR.

Busy week at work - will be a challenge to squeeze all the planned training in - unless i just do it all at the crack of o dark thirty  - which I might.

the last two weeks for me were hectic beyond words. Several snow days, orthodontist appointments, school holidays, and overall busyness of the care and feeding of a pre-teen. I'm trying to get back into the habits of my morning workouts, but I had to leave the gym early this morning. I had forgotten my pants at home. >.<

MONDAY CHECK IN!!!

So excited for Dave, Hilary, and Andria.  PR for Dave, and longest run ever for both Hilary and Andria!  Nice work gang.

Amen to that, nice work all!

Made up for some lost time from earlier this week with a longish brick workout on Saturday. Weather was beautiful for an outdoor run.  Sunday was a rest day.

Today was a bit more inspired swim workout...last several were blah and had me second-guessing rising at 4:00a to drive 40 minutes when my club is only 5 miles away (still thinkin' about that, but the workout was better).

This is the last full week of my "base building" training program. I begin my HIM plan middle of next week, building towards SOR in July.

Let's see...I still don't have official results so I don't know my rank or anything for my run on Saturday.  I do have a draft report...the T-shirt certainly made up for the lack of goodies in my goody bag.  (I know I gave the goody bag a really low rating!)

I ran a half hour today and surprisingly, I enjoyed it.  (Can't really speak for my foot, though)

Happy Monday all!

Great jobs Andria and Dave!  Sounds like we all had successful weekends.  I got my rearend off the treadmill and out the front door for my scheduled 7 miles long run this weekend (longest for me yet).  I ended up at a 10:22 pace which made me happy (as I'm hoping to do the 15k in 2 wks at under 11:00 pace).  I kept "running" the entire time with the only stops the two times I had to cross A1A.  My knees were screaming when I was done but iced them and popped some Ibuprofen and seem OK today and also not feeling any major soreness today.

Spent the rest of the day doing trimming in the yard so was ready for bed by about 8pm .

You know it doesn't seem that long ago that I'd start running and it would be like 3 mins into it and I'd be saying "I hate running".  Never thought I'd be running 7 miles and never thinking "I hate running" - maybe thinking "I really want to walK" but not that I hate it .

Way to go Hilary!  Nice time on that run, too.

I went ahead and posted my race report for the Snowman Stampede.  My chip time (I was a little ill and started late) was actually 1:53:59, rather than 1:55-something.  (10 mile race)

320/362 overall.  83/96 age group.  185/218 females.

I started doing a little speed work this morning, albeit in the snow, and my foot seemed to be okay with it.

Tuesday check in.  Since I will be moving away I have abandoned my 1/2 mary training to a tri specific one.  I'll shoot for the Galveston, TX sprint at the end of March.  I think I'll be fine on the running, hence the swim/bike work this morning.  Would have like to go longer but it was my day to carpool for pre-school today!

Sorry guys, I missed the Monday check in. I have been at the coast fishing for the past few days. The weather was great here in TX and I had to get out. I did manage to get in a run on the beach. Wade fishing in waist deep water for several hours at a time in the mud is enough of a workout!

I will be getting my first swimming lesson next week to try and get my self ready for a sprint at the end of March. I already signed up for it back in October before allof my medical issues. I doubt I'll be able to compete as I have to be able to swim 500 yards and I can only swim 50 to 75 yards now. But, I will be there no matter what.

My fatigue is pretty much gone now, but I am battling a sinus issues now. I should be able to workout as long as the problem stays in my head and does not move into my chest.

Spanglers - congrats on your new job and welcome to Texas! I look forward to meeting you at the Galveston Lone Star Sprint in March.

I took Nyquil 30 minutes ago so, its off to lala land for me. Zzzzzzzzzzz.

Hey Eric!  So glad to hear you are feeling stronger.  Have fun with the swimming lesson.  While I grew up in the water and was on swim team as a kid, I took some one on one coaching last year to fine tune things and it helped a huge amount.  As Davewithnumbers will probably tell you (he's our resident expert with the awesome swim ranking) swimming is all about efficiency.

I miss the days when I could scoot out of the office at lunch for a swim.  But, I'm getting more efficient at work which means I should be able to do that again soon.  And, I'm getting up earlier.  Nothing earth shattering, but 7 a.m. is the new 7:30 for me.  So, maybe I'm just becoming closer to normal for most professional types!

Calling the surgeon again - HTFU ain't working for me

Added at 14:04 - dr appt in 1 week thinks it shoudn't be anything serious if i can train with it but maybe it is impinged nerve or something - in any event  going to get checked in a week - seems like i might be a weinie about the pain but would rather be safe than sorry eh?

Happy Friday All!

Pete!!! Why'd you bail on the run last night!

Hilary - Good luck on your race - can't wait for the race report!

Dave - I think we've all been in a little training funk at one point or another - it will pass!  May be your body telling you to take a day or two off.  Nothing wrong with that.

Hilary, good luck in the race you ARE going to do tomorrow!!!

Dave, bummer you are in a funk.  Take a rest day and make it as restful as you can.  I have found when I mentally embrace the rest it is more restful.  Makes sense don't it?

Spanglers, thank you for taking Force's suggestion...  I felt crappy!  Went out for a burger and beers on Wednesday night, and when I woke up yesterday felt like I had been hit by a freight train.  Went to an 8:30 a.m. meeting, and then back home to bed for three hours.  This morning still had a slight headache when I got up, not bad enough to keep me from shoveling, and it's better now after pounding fluids.

With last night's 3" of snow, Milwaukee is currently in the midst of the 10th snowiest winter on record.  I love snow but I've had way too much of it this year.

I've had serious motivation problems over the past few weeks, and then last night, I forced myself to get out and run (my least favorite activity) and got bumped by a car. Doesn't that just take the biscuit? I'm not physically hurt in any way, it was just a light tap, but my brains are scrambled. I now have a phobia of crossing streets, and some of oncoming traffic at all. it sounds so stupid even to mention it, but there it is. I keep seeing the cars coming up "to get me". God that sounds dumb.

I'm going to take a few weeks, re-group, and try to get back on the horse to do a 12-week program leading up to an event 04 May.
