Ricker - Congrats!!!!  Nice job

Fit - Congrats to you also! Very nice time.

First try of the season is less than 2 weeks away.  Went to an open water swim clinic on Sunday and got about a mile swim in.  Foggy and hard to see the bouys but good training.

I haven't had much time lately so it has been a while since i have been here. I hope everyone is doing great.

SInce last I posted things have been going much better. I haven't been able to get a full weeks of training in yet but my swimming is getting much better. I can go further and faster than i was a month ago. The running has gotten better. TOday I was able to run about 20 sec a mile faster while keeping my heart rate in the right range. The bike as been a bit of a struggle but it tends to be the one thing that I have to miss.

Small chance I do super sprint tri put on by the local tri club on sat.

Pool question-How long of a break do you take between your warm up and drills or workout and then also between your drills?

Hey all!

Work hasn't been fun but getting some workouts in.  Got fitted on the new bike yesterday and went for a ride today.  Rode with a lady from church.  She hadn't ridden since Nov so it was pretty much a casual ride.   Did take off for a couple 5 mile sprints and the new fit feels great.  May be a bit aggressive position as my shoulders were feeling it at the end of the 31 miles.  Weather here has been beautiful.

Phil - I am not much of a swimmer but usually only 1 may be 2 minutes between warmup and main workout.

First Tri of the season next weekend!

Still didn't get in all my workouts this week but friday my track team pulled a tough one and still undefeated in league for over two years. Should only have one more tough one this season for both girls and boys...

Yesterday had a 2 1/2 hour bike ride planned but I forgot I was going to play basketball with some old friends. I got a 1hr 35min ride in and then 1 hr 20 of actually playing time. It added up to 3 miles on the garmin. I am so tired today.  Off to colorado to see family... Hope all is going well you everyone.

Hello everyone,

been SOOO busy with work (short trip to Phili) and with this rain I havent been able to train at all lately.

one thing did happen that could be exciting......I got a sponsor......not sure of all of the details yet. I feel like this will, if nothing else, keep me accountable to train.

yay for some dry weather for a change!

I think I'm going to have to back off my race plan of running my first Olympic distance on April 23rd.  My training is going to take a big hit these next two weeks and i just won't be ready for that distance.  I'll run the sprint distance instead.  My son's wedding is next weekend with all that goes along with that and the  week after that, It's Masters week here in Augusta with lots of friends and relatives staying after the wedding for that.  It's gonna be a fun two weeks, but not real conducive to training.  I just hope to maintain and not go backwards!!

Jeff,

congrats on that distance PR on the bike.  Today 5 miles.....next year, 50 miles!!  or maybe next month, but that would just be too much!  Just keep building the base.

Hey Everyone.Today I completed my first Triatlon! It was an indoor Sprint at the local Wasagabeach YMCA. I'd tell you that I came first in individual sprint and second overall behind a relay team. However its more important to me that I finished and came almost dead on to my goal times (assumptions from training times) My times were:Swim 16.44/750mBike 40:00/Medium IntensityRun 32:20/5k.Grand total 1:29:04.I had a tremendous amount of fun and really sore calves...First outdoor upcoming on June 9th

Finish lines are updated....

Congrats to all the "firsts" of the year and especially the "firsts" of life....it is only the first of many but we ALL remember that first finish line.  As you progress you will also remember the "first" finish line at each distance.  What great memories....

Sounds like everyone is working hard and doing what they can.  It is just April and STUFF is heating up.  Don't let work get TOO in the way...keep doing something as often as possible.

I was in Arizona all week last week and got a couple of great runs in but they were HOT - it was 97 there Friday...ouch....

I think it is going to be a HOT summer....keep up the good work and keep reporting all finish lines.

It has been raining her for 5 days straight now.  Enough already!

5 is nothing, in this little corner of the country we have had 39 days of rain.  I am so ready for sunshine, just a little tease please.

So after the rest and recovery from my first tri I've got some questions about my performance that you might be able to help me with.

About Half way through my run, I could not even think of taking another sip of water. Is that something others have experienced? Is there a way to prevent that from happening?

Also is there a thing as too much calories before a race? I ate 600 cal, three hours before my start time. Would that contribute to me not being able to injest anything further?

Thanks,

Glenn
