Welcome to the AM crowd I don't like waking up early but I enjoy having workouts done early. I found it made training much more consistent since I won't skip workouts based on what went on that day. Of course if it's cold in the AM and I have other options I'll take them, it's my weakness

KelliD - 2009-01-30 8:58 AM I'm reminded this morning of why I don't like late nights out during the week.  Even after coffee, so tired and sluggish.  And, that "one last beer" that I thought was a good idea last night....not really necessary.  Luckily it looks like it's going to be a slow day at the office.  I had such a hard time pulling mysef out of bed this morning that I totally forgot about the push ups I was supposed to do.  I don't know exactly when it happned, but I've totally morphed from a night person to a morning person.  I don't care if it makes me an old lady but I love going to bed early!  Anyway, that is my bit for the day.

Not having energy is understandable after being sick. You know what your body feels like more than us but I think you can be ready for the race.  You might just have to redefine what 'ready' means, take it slower and just enjoy the race. I'm not sure you'd want to go into it trying to go faster than you're currently training.

Newtons1st - 2009-01-30 3:34 PM

Man can being sick for 6 days wear you out. I did my lunch time run today and there wasnt much energy in it. The calf feels pretty good. I still feel a little but it is very low, way less than what it has been. But I still have yet been able to go fast. Not sure if it would handle a speed up.

I am wondering with basically 3 weeks left if I can actually be ready my Dual.

Happy weekend everyone!  I'm finally starting to feel human again, even though coughing has been keeping me up at night, I think that I've about kicked this bug.

Sorry I wasn't around much this week, but we went thru a round of layoffs yesterday and bting at work probably isn't the smartest move when these types of changes are occuring.

What's everyone got planned for workouts this weekend?  I'm thinking I'm going to be nice to myself and just ease back into it with some light yoga and walking.  I definately don't want to do too much too fast and end up getting sick again.

Anyway, happy Superbowl weekend all.  I'm in Tampa so it's a madhouse out there with all the tourists and celebrities in town for the event.

I too have found the only way that I don't talk myself out of training is if I do it it the mornings.  I suck at doing it consistently, but that's one of my big goals for 2009.

Hooray...so glad to hear you're feeling better!!  There's been a stomach bug going around here as well.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I stay in the clear.

Aside from my hot date with a treadmill Friday night (I know....don't be jealous )  workouts this weekend were non-existent.  I will say though, it was really nice to take a break for a couple days.

Like wise...Happy Monday!  I too was very busy last week and unfortunately again this week I will be in and out of the office...wrapping up the last of my annual training requirements.  I hope to be back in the forums 100% next week.

Training this weekend was pretty good for me...nice long run a decent trainer ride and of course, I finally got in the PU & SU challenge I had been trying to escape for 3 days.  The extra days off did help the PU's.  I had a pretty good go of it, until that dreaded last set.  I knocked 'em out - didn't quit - but they were not what I would call QUALITY push-ups.  I will be stepping down to column 2 for day 3 of week 4.  I anticipate continuing there until the end.  I am going to simply repeat the program after week six.  My goal then is to start and finish in column 3.

Stinkin' Steelers... Not that I was really partial to either team, but the Steelers now have the sixth win, which moves one rung above my beloved COWBOYS!!! We'll be tied again after next year!!!

WOW!!  That just looks like pure insanity!!  And re: pic #14, there was a guy who ran the NYC Marathon last year wearing the same thing.  So hilarious!  I had to do a triple take.

Honestly, that's conservative.  I like to set goals I know I can reach and because the only pool I have access to is outdoors and it's been really cool lately.  If the air temp doesn't break 60 there's no way I'm getting in the water.

I understand, just giving you a hard time! I hate swimming when it's cold, I've sucked it up this winter since I don't have much of a choice. Thankfully the place I swim at he keeps the pool at a nice 84deg

Okay Eric, no slight on you...but since the ladies are enjoying their "cutie pie" swim coaching... I no longer want your help...I demand a smokin' hot bikini clad swim coach be on tap for us fellas...

Maybe we could start like a Hooters style swim program... scantly clad cuties teaching us how to perfect our stroke... okay, sorry that's going downhill quickly.  I guess I would be better instructed by some mean old man coach...yelling and screaming obscenities at me!

Pic# 14... LOL funny... I can definitely see some photoshop potential in that one... morph some friend's faces and the fun begins...

Those silly brits and their tough-guy competition... they stole it from Hell Week at BUDs training (Seals).
