Well it's 40F right now but there was a nice thin layer of ice over everything this morning.  My anti-lock brakes actually kicked in at the bottom of our hill on the way to the Y.

Although I had a tight window of opportunity this morning I did do what was planned, a run before bike brick.  I wasn't feeling all that great before it but felt great afterward.  I love it when that happens.

Went out for a run today!  IT WAS AWESOME!  I went a little to far but I am not feeling too bad...just a little tired.   As for the bike I am going to wait to take her outside till I have a weekend where I can take her out to the suburbs and find an empty parking lot and fall as need be.

Rest and relaxation.  Taking the kids to the pool and then a short run for the challenge. Left knee is still sore today, so trying to take it easy on the runs.  Want to go longer, but not really interested in trying to test how long I can go before the knee gives out.

I'm not up to much today. Went shopping this morning and had lunch. Now I'll probably do some core excercises. Then who knows what.

It's an unmotivated day. Very gray outside, cold and little football.

Ok, I'm going to assume this ^^^^ was directed towards me. I read the article and get the point. I have actually been thinking over the last few days that I need to work a bit more on the strength training and core exercises now that I have some basic aerobic fitness back.  Prior to joining this site back in September, I was basically a couch potato/ video gamer who got winded walking a flight of stairs.  I have also been working on finding a local trainer who has some experience in working with triathletes (so far to no avail).  It seems that for the most part the "trainer" folks available around here work with either "body builders" or senior citizens.  The rest of us have been kind of left to our own devices. They are still doing the same things that I was taught to do back in high school 20 odd years ago.  Looking at other blogs on this site I am getting a better idea of what I should be doing in the gym other than swim, bike, run.  So with that being said, I am foregoing my run today (in spite of my challenge) to do a Core set along with some strength training Yoga.

Actually, it was directed at all of us.  It's kind of an "off-handed" compliment.  We have some good training going here and I want everyone to pace themselves and enjoy their new found fitness without risking unnecessary injury!

Keep on Keep'n On All!

There are some great workouts in here! You are all an awesome bunch of athletes, it's so great to be part of this group.

My weekend was somewhat turned upside down, my 19 y.o. daughter had a falling-out with her roommate/boyfriend and had to move out very quickly.  Friday night was spent moving her out of that place and into a new apartment she is sharing with two girlfriends.  Saturday I got a nice run in, then moved furniture with the girls.  Ugh, it makes me NEVER want to move.

Today I got my long run in, not the greatest as I was tired from yesterday, but it was enjoyable enough.  Got in a strength/core session later in the day via a dvd and then did a trainer session while I watched a dvd on Open Water swimming.   We are very busy at work and my boss and I have been butting heads in a bit of a power struggle.

To add fuel to all of this drama, an IRS Revenue Officer came knocking on my door last week looking for my ex-husband. Had to tell him I honestly have no idea where he is. Which is the truth...when it rains it pours.

So this week, my motto is NO DRAMA!!!  I will get to bring the new bike home after a fitting and am really looking forward to that.

Actually Gordo changed his page today....

The Core Workouts were not what I intended on sharing...sorry for the confusion.

He had a great article on consistency and not pushing too hard this time of year...just stay consistent.  Again, confusing...MY fault.

Drama sucks!  2008 was our bad year and I'm looking forward to nothing major this year.  I hope you have a good week.

Okay, so I have to tell y'all what my husband has decided to do. I think my training has worn off on him.

DH has been mountain biking for about 20 years, raced some when he was in college. But then life took over and he hasn't raced much since. Now that he's finally done with school & training and it looks like we are finally gonna stay put for a while so he's decided to get back into racing. He did a couple of short local races last year. Won his age group in one of them (there were only 4 or 5 in the group). He did 24 hrs of Moab as a relay a few years ago and I guess liked it. So this year he and his brother were talking about doing another relay but couldn't find any that fit in both schedules. So he found one to do by himself, the Cascade Cream Puff . It's a 100 mile mountain bike ride, time cutoff 15 hours. Oh my! I have no doubts about his ability to this. But I foresee some challenges in the coming months. Coordinating two training schedules and one work schedule for one. It should be interesting.

He was talking with someone at work one day who is a long time resident of this area and avid road cyclist.  She said when it comes to triathlons around here, "there's something in the water." People move here and want to do triathlons. That must apply to other endurance races as well.

I knock my decision to do triathlons as a mid-life crisis (hit 40 last year) but he can't use that excuse yet. We must both be crazy then.

Hope you don't mind me sharing. Have a good Monday!

Wow, that's very cool! It will make for some challenging schedule juggling but it's amazing how you find ways to make these things work.  Have a great day!

Good luck getting those schedules to mesh.  Sounds like there will be lots of juggling going on in the next few months for you two.
