Girl Passing on Left - 2009-08-10 12:03 PM

skrtrnr - 2009-08-10 8:21 AM

asked myself.

'self.  what would you like to do today?'

and i answered.

a short swim.

so thats what ill do.

later on.

before my son's baseball game.

a short swim.

perhaps the whole thing WITH FINS. or a PULL BUOY.  MAYBE BOTH.  SWITCH IT UP.

i know.  GASP.

i heart my fins.

hardly use them when im doing the 'T' word.

how long will the swim be, you ask?

dunno.

ill swim until i feel like stopping.  (kinda like Forrest and running)

i have ALL WEEK (including the first two days of vaca) to do 30 mins of swimming.

MY HIATUS FROM TRI TRNG HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN.

feels weird.
stacieb

I too may swim...was going to go run...but today is hot in our area too! I may do a brick (short 1-2 mile run with a swim right after) depends on how hot it is when I get to the pool. Have a nice swim. Enjoy your coming vacation...what is the Tminus time now!?!

enjoy your brick, JULES.  if its hot like here, you gonna cut the run.  holycrapoly.

im heading to the pool in a few.

taking three stowaways.

ooooh.  Tminus.  ineed to figure it out (you'd think id know it right off the top of my head.  LOL)

but heres a novel thought.

im gonna leave the swim equipment bag at home and JUST SWIM.

can we all say, 'whoooh.'

this taking some time off stuff is hard to do.

skrtrnr - 2009-08-09 4:45 PM hello team

today didnt go as well as i hoped it would.

HOT AS HELL.

and i didnt hold up well under the conditions.  though, im happy to report we did NOT have a repeat of the MS150 heatstroke/meltdown.

still waiting on the official results.  (damn chip time....)

1:37ish....

about 6-7-8 mins off my goal time.

nuthin i can do about it now.

decent swim.

unexpectedly slower bike.  what the??  (17mph instead of the expected 17.5-17.8)

and a MISERABLE run (though not as slow it couldve ended up being...)  suffer-fest from beginning to end.  and the trail is supposed to be happy place.

yea. i guess when its not 90+ w 90% humidity

sorry.

im still pretty grumpy about it.

i swear im STILL sweating.    and im tired as all get out.

what does a girl have to do to get a decent time?

i cant work any harder than i already am.  (maybe thats just it....)  OI VEY.

the slowest person in my group of friends that competed today.  i need to get some slower friends.

i kept it together, and finished.....

so im giving myself PROPS for that.

and to be off even that 'little' on day like today, thats something too.  couldve been A LOT slower.

trying to make lemonade.  but....

SO NOT the way i wanted to 'end' the season.

even my friend who ive been training with, was, 'what the heck??'

not sure WHAT the answer is....

SOOOOOOO looking forward to my two week HIATUS.  (ya think i need a break??  LOL)

gonna keep working out, following a SUPER DUPER TAPERED SCHEDULE (which was planned into my goals for this months challenge, no worries there.  i wont let you down, team)

recover, regroup, refocus.

have a 1/2 MARY to start training for starting the end of the month.

'09-'10 BETTER STRONGER FASTER.
stacieb

IM SORRY FOR THE GRUMP-FEST YESTURDAY TEAMMIES.

i shouldve waited 24 hours before i posted anything, anywhere about my race.

i was HOT, TIRED AND HUNGRY.

what i needed was a cool shower, food, and a good nights sleep not come here and dump.

i have more perspective about the whole thing today.

amazing what 24 hours will do.

you can read my log (if you dare to go back after the all the btchin and moaning i did!!!!)

but, the one thing i realized is that i completed this tri FIVE MINUTES FASTER than the Sprint i did earlier in the season, INSPITE OF THE CONDITIONS YESTURDAY.

with a much longer swim (365 yds longer), a more challenging bike course (are there hills in OH, i think not), and MOST DEFIANTELY a more challening run course. (residential streets in FLAT OH vs a very hilly HOT AS HELL trail run.  nuff said)

oh yeah, and my bike pace average improved by 2 miles+/hour since that race too (same bike, better cyclist)

can we all say INCREMENTAL PROGRESS.

LOTS to be VERY PROUD OF.

back to my usual chipper self.
stacieb

you better believe there is much to be proud of....remember where you were before you started training for triathlons!? way to look at the cup half full rather then half empty!...and as for this Half Marathon you are going to start training for....we need to start training together when you get back...I need to make sure to follow this plan you guys all sent me...I am bad about doing that...and usually will go run however long I feel that day!?! NOT GOOD! so you need to keep both eyes on me and make sure I do what I need to get to the finish line for my HM...but not til after your vacation! have fun with the family....cuz when you get back...we are going to be some HM training mamas! nice race Stacie...you finished and that is much more then many people can say!!!! nice job!!!

HELL YA we can train together.

Cheri and i talked about doing that too.

Erica?  any chance you'll change your mind (though from the sounds of it, it might be a good idea....)

maybe we can have our very own thread and everything.

HAL'S GALS.

whadya think?

and HELL YA, ive come a LOOOOOONG WAY.

just took me 24 hours to remember.

silly me.

skrtrnr - 2009-08-08 1:40 PM oh dear BILL.  sorry for making fun.

crashing OR flipping would NOT have been fun at all in THAT type of race.

[JUST READ THE RACE REPORTS....]

kudos to you, for getting out there and pounding it out

YOURE MORE COURAGEOUS than id ever be.....

btw, what is a Criterium exactly?

stacieb

it is a small race venue area where the racers will do loops...usually held in closed city streets....mini tour de france - instead it is tour da city streets around and around and around - they have bell laps where you get points/or money

heh heh.

schweet.

heading out for that HOT afternoon run (dumb me...I could have avoided this if I would have gotten out first thing this morning!!!)...just gonna run maybe 15-20 minutes and then straight to the pool for me! mini brick work out....Heck, I may decide to go meet my husband after work for a ride...depends on how long I swim and how hot it is when 5 o'clock comes rolling around.

TRAIN WELL! have a nice weekend!

wow...do we need to get him a new wii game? was he bored? or making a statement!!?

i have no idea why he did what he did except he lacks common sense....

[well, no idea why, that's not totally true, but...a longer story, for another day]

when i asked why, he said, 'i dont know'

he said he was just lighting a candle.

does it take an entire BOX of matches to light a candle?

oh man.  i HOPE its not some statement.

i did ask him if he was angry or upset or sad or scared about something.

he said no.

the wii's coming in Oct-Nov.

hopefully he wont burn the house down before then.

this taking some time off stuff is hard to do.
stacieb

enjoy the MUCH deserved time off!

now why are you leaving the bag behind...but taking 3 stowaways...shouldnt it be the other way around!?!?

yea.  i wish i could left the three behind too.

my oldest son, soon to be THIRTEEN, whom weve trusted enough to leave home alone and/or 'in charge' of my two youngest children for short periods of time, decided that playing w a WHOLE BOX OF MATCHES was GOOD IDEA that last time he was here by himself (FRIDAY night)

now i dont trust any further than i can throw him, which actually would have been FAR considering how angry i was at him...and still am.

the days of leaving the children behind are GONE.  sniff.

it was safer to leave the bag.
stacieb

wow...do we need to get him a new wii game? was he bored? or making a statement!!?

i have no idea why he did what he did except he lacks common sense....

well, no idea why, that's not totally true, but...a longer story, for another day.

he said he didnt know why he did it.

oh man.  i hope its not some statement.  i asked him if he was angry or upset or sad or scared about something.

he said no.

the wii's coming in Oct-Nov.

hopefully he wont burn the house down before then.

its ok JULES.  i can miss it too, sometimes.  even WITH the letters behind my name and the certification on the wall.

i did wonder if maybe he's getting anxious about school starting in a few weeks.

the BIG BAD MIDDLE SCHOOL.

its SCARY growing up.

scared is a feeling according to him he doesnt 'have'.

he has ASPERGERS SYNDROME.

its been tough.

but we're on it.
