If we do it is AMAZING the damage. They bounce around like they are ping pong balls. I can imagine. Does anyone here watch Stormchasers on the Discovery channel? I've seen it a few times. I think those guys trying to drive into tornadoes are nuts! I have watched it. I think they are beyond stoopid. I have been in hurricanes and tornados and they are NOT to be messed with. Ma Nature is NOT kidding! I can see my son doing that - he loves watching that show and is infatuated with Tornadoes! My son is weather paranoid. He does like to watch the show though. I have the DVR setup to record the shows. He likes the science of it, but thinks they are insane. My brother was OBSESSED when he was younger. He was constantly on the look out for green clouds.. It was maybe 13 or 14 years ago we were hit by a small F1 tornado. It was before we were married, but we were dating, I was away at school. My SIL and her son were home across the road, and my inlaws were home. I think something like 7 trees were destroyed, a concrete block shed was tipped over, and the rounded barn full of almost 2,000 bales of hay was picked up and spun and dropped back to where it came from. A shed roof was picked up at my inlaws and lifted over the barn and dropped on their house. My inlaws had to crawl out a window to get out of the house. They said by the time they heard it they only had time to hit the floor, no time to get to the basement. My SIl and her son went to the basement and said they weren't coming out until someone came to get them and told them it was safe. My husband was living in a trailer on the property at the time. It sucked all but 2 windows out of the trailer and drove a 2x4 through a wall. It took the roof off of the porch, but didn't touch the little grill I had sitting on the porch. You could see the path it took through the cornfield. We found metal from the barn over a mile away hanging in trees. My husband was halfway home and remembered he needed cat food. He turned around and went back in town. If he wouldn't have done that he'd have been there when it hit. He had always told me the barn would be the safest place to be, turns out it wasn't. Pretty scary!! When I was in high school in Denver - I walked home from school and one blew through about 2 miles north of me - never knew it. I have seen funnels on the praries many a time driving out to Colorado. That is enough for me I was in a car in one in Cincinatti when I was 8 or 9. The neighborhood had 3 foot oak trees all around. The wind and rain were so loud we could see the trees crashing all around us but couldn't hear them. Trees fell on the car in front of us, and directly behind us. We were trapped and metal trash cans crashed the windows. Then it was over. We walked home looking at brick houses that were totaled. the bag of corn husks I was supposed to take to the trash (but didn't) was still sitting on the picnic table outside. |

Champion 14677 | Subject: RE: Ghoulies vs BT Thread 3 Speaking of scary. It is pouring rain here, windy and I was listening to a plane fly over. Small one. Then nothing sputter sputter nothing Then it made a loud whine and (heavy sigh) flew out out sound range. I bet their linens are soiled. What are they thinking flying a little tiny plane in this weather. It is not as if it was a "sudden storm". |

My SIL goes only one of us can go in. It was her!!! I don't like that stuff - just saying As natural as it is and all! My husband was in there for both of them, he didn't see anything. He was happy he didn't get asked to cut the cord. My son was an emergency c-section, my daughter was scheduled. |
