quincyf - 2011-02-18 6:10 PM  Some of this weekend's workouts might be outside.

Our crazy weather, it is 80 degrees right now!!  Much better than 20 degrees from a few weeks ago.

I am cycling with a friend tomorrow. It will probably be a easier ride then normal because she has not been on her bike for awhile.  Sunday run and a short bike ride.

Quincyf,

"If you want to do a marathon, train for an Ironman, your body will thank you." -advice given to me by a stranger at the park

He didn't elaborate on what to do if you want to do an ironman? Smart person though.

A few weeks ago I was depressed because I was dismantled on a 70 mile ride.  Today I did the same route 45minutes faster.  I am not sure what happened, but I like it.  I felt as good or better than my last HIM.  The following is changes/difference from that ride.
1. 20 + degrees warmer-  I wore so many clothes that day that I think I could have overheated/dehydrated
2. I ran my 1hr run on Thursday rather than Friday
3. I cleaned and lubed my bike up and made some adjustmets on it-  it ran so smotth today, ie. chain not rubbing front derailleur, shifted smooth
4.  I only rode 50 miles last week and finished my block.

Glad you had some redemption today! That's the crazy thing about this sport...a few minor adjustments can make a big difference...and one moment when we doubt ourselves and our abilities can all turn around with a quality outing.

I will say that I am excited to get on the bike tomorrow in shorts and a regular jersey...a major departure from the last two weekends.

I am cooked did 4:30 on the bike today for 88.5 miles and a hard run off the bike off nearly 5 miles running. It got hot on the run today. We had some stiff winds over here. I did a 45 min pull, no body could really match me doing that, but after my legs were on fire. Going out tonight for  some birthday dinner to replace all the calories, check out nutrition log starting on Friday and do not try to follow it.

Which LTF do you run at? I am looking at getting a job there hopefully in Plano or Allen, maybe.

I am about half way between the two, but I go to the Plano club.  Good luck on the job.

Happy Birthday!!!!

I kind of got beat up on my ride today by some guys who have several years of experience and are in better shape than me. at one point a group of older guys came up on our group of 3 and the one cocky guy in our group whipped up the pace just cause he didn't want the old guys hanging with us. I knew it was coming but doing 23 mph into the wind for a couple miles took it out of me. The old guys took a turn so it was down to just us three. Both of the guys I was riding with pulled through and put me on the front and I lasted about 30 seconds dropped back and tried to keep their wheel but couldn't. I slowed down to 17mph on my own and luckily caught them at a stop light then we rode the last 5-6 miles back together and  they backed off a little for me. After that I went with my wife to a park for her to do her hour + long run and  I did 3 miles easy to kill some time. It was a good long training day for me so I'm happy.

I just wanted to say that I hate you! Wink

I picked up my wetsuit from the post office today. It seems to fit well, too bad the lake is frozen. Absolutely hammered my 20km on the bike trainer today. Run 20km tomorrow morning, its supposed to be about 7f.

...went to the health club this morning to get my long run in on the treadmill and when I took my shoes out of my bag I realized that I had two right shoes?! Drawback of having more than one pair of the same running shoes. Fortunately I had goggles and a suit in there too so I got 1700yds in the pool and squeezed a 2hr run in later this afternoon. Right now I am having a beer (with absolutely no guilt) getting ready for tomorrow...from your posts; great work by y'all today (yea, I know...I live in Colorado,...but grew up in Texas. The real question is what's the plural of y'all?). Looking forward to "all-y'all's" posts tomorrow! C

Ha...I knew I would take some heat for that comment. I sympathize with you...while I really do love the cold and winter weather, since starting this triathlon thing I've become a bit of a whimp -- at least when it comes to biking in anything less than 60F.

So my ride today was nice...even with the tough wind, I enjoyed 40 miles in the sunshine and getting out in the shorts and short sleeves. Wink

I've been riding in jersey and shorts for quite some time now. There were a few mornings under 60 degrees probably that I was shivering before we got going but once the sun came up I had no complaints. I also swam in the heated pool through December the only hard part was getting out! Soon enough I will be dealing with 100 degree temps and humidity and heat indexes over 100. I know the TX people in this group can relate to the approaching summer conditions. We all get our fair share of everything I guess.

I took down a 6 pack of Budweiser today watching NASCAR! WOOH! Yall and Yalls doesn't need an apostrophe. Proud to be a FL cracker.

"Raced" a 10 miler yesterday.  Finished in 1:08:24 (6:50/pace).  I'm not too upset with the result as my run training is down (10mpw) due to some nagging injuries and an orthotic change.  Plus I haven't run more than 5 miles since the fall.  I am running the half marathon in 3 weeks that will close out the series and I'm hoping for a HM PR as it is a flat and fast course.  All will depend on weather and footing though.

Got back yesterday from my weekend away from my life.  Awesome time catching up with an old friend plus I got to ride outside on a straight, slightly rolling country road with only 3 stop lights over 12 miles of road.  Weeeeeeeee!  Too bad I'm so slow.  I also got to run outside in just a tank and shorts which was amazing.

On the downer side, I ate way too much crap, including cheese and sugar, and have been paying for it all day.  My stomach is so unsettled that I haven't been able to get in the training I have scheduled for today.  I'm hoping that things will be cleared out enough that I can at least do a few miles on the treadmill tonight, but that doesn't seem likely at the moment.  Live and learn I guess.
