I rode the snowmobile trails and cried and then went cross country skiing with my son last night and by myself this morning before work. I should have called in sick! I am so glad I know someone who loves the wintery weather, Bill. Robin - in Buffalo there are really no alternatives to loving it or being miserable for 6 months. I try to make the most of it! We are so close to winter, but not close enough to invest in the gear. If I had more money I would have cross country skis and head to Boone (only 2 hours from here) and play. They have way more snow than we do and more of an opportunity to enjoy the winter. Snow here for me just means hiking, some snow balls and an occasional snow person. |

I just bought snowshoes this year and am eagerly awaiting enough snow to use them. I'd like to try cross country skiing sometime, too. I think I could go on the horse trails we use. |

Down here is it just a pain, because we don't have the equipment to keep the roads open. I'm on day 4 of being snow bound. We took a walk around the neighborhood again yesterday and the ice was treacherous. Today is only supposed to get to a high of 32, so it does not look like it is getting any better. Earlier this week they said that Thursday would have a high of 44, but now they are saying it won't happen today, but tomorrow, maybe a high of 41. People who have made it out to the grocery stores are reporting empty shelves. The big trucks can't get in with new produce, etc. No point in even trying to get to a store. So, today the house is getting cleaned from top to bottom. |
