5 days no workouts,

Guess I am working my butt off this weekend.

And Jon I have thought the same thing about signing up for a 70.3,  My wife told me not too though.  She says work on your Oly time first and see what happens.

The White mtns are soo beautiful,  I hiked the Appalachian Trail through there,  Franconia Ridge, Mt Washington ughh I wish I lived close.

Sorry been MIA for awhile! Been crazy busy - we just bought a house and the big move is next weekend. Between that, traveling for work, and prepping to get our condo on the market we've been all over the place! Training was going rather well until about the last week... But I keep telling myself I'm not officially "training yet, so it's ok. Just wanted to throw out an update... Hope everyone is doing well!

Ok swim this morning, but took the new shoes out for a run today and loved them.  Just 2 miles because I'm still getting back into it slowly, but the foot felt great.  The only thing that limited me was the fact that I haven't ran in ages.  I'll probably go out for another run tomorrow, see how it feels back to back days.

Just a swim on Sunday for me but it was great.  I started out with a few 100's and they were super quick (for me).  I think my 3rd one was 1:26, but I was definitely working for it, no way I could keep that pace up for very long.  After about maybe 1000 yards I started working on technique and breathing and body position so I totally lost track of time and yardage but I just felt smooth.  My head felt like it was in the right spot and I felt like I was swimming downhill, which is an analogy that I heard and really like.  I've noticed the back to back swimming days (Sat/Sun) help immensely.  I really need to get Wednesdays back into the rotation so I don't feel all out of sorts on Saturday. Every Saturday there is a guy in the pool when I get there and he does a mile straight.  Super nice guy, wants to get into Triathlon so we always shoot the sh*t after the swim.  He even mentioned that I'm really moving in the water and he used to see me ahead of him at a certain point in a lap and know when he'd pass me, but now he said he's lucky if he can pass, of course I stop every 200/300/400 whatever and he goes 1800 non-stop, but it was great to hear something positive.  It's been two full months of swimming and I don't feel like I want to die in the water anymore.

Absolute best part of everything though, the weather is starting to turn!  40's all week maybe even 50 at some point and then the time change which means even more daylight.  Snow is melting.  Anyone else getting psyched to get back to managable temps?

Sounds like good steps on the swim! There's a guy at my pool that looks exactly like Tom Selleck that absolutely crushes me. (and everyone else) It drives me bonkers that he's as fast as I am when he's doing the backstroke!

It's supposed to be cold here for another week or so and then possibly warm up. After missing a ton of training last month I'm excited to get back to it.

hunted is one of my top 3, my favorite rotates day to day.  going to do the new video here shortly... 100 minutes of suffering, by far their longest video yet.

got in a good run today with my coworkers; they convinced my they were going to run 7.40 for 4 miles, we ended up doing 7.15 for 5... and one of them has walking pneumonia. insane.

Yeah, I jinxed the weather big time.  On Saturday the whole week was clear and in the 40's/50's, now they're saying snow for 2-3 days.  I think New England must get the meteorologists that flunk out of meteor school because they are constantly so far off.  And it's not just that they are off, but each channel/website says something different.  I swear they get together in their secret meteor lab and take turns on who gets to scare the crap out of everyone by predicting 18" while the others just snicker at the thought of wide spread panic throughout the entire north east even thought they damn well know all we're getting is rain.  Jerks.

Be careful with the new shoes.  Wife got me a new pair for xmas and I was laid up for nearly 2 months with foot pain.  I know she did it on purpose but she won't admit to it.  She's crafty.

Weather has been bleh around here the last few days. Lots of snow this morning put me inside on the dreadmill for an hour run... yuck. It makes it worse that the gym insists on running Fox News on the TV's.

Last couple days I've been in contact with the prez of a local tri club and last night I decided to join.  Seems like a really good group of people of all different abilities and they are all from right around my area.  They do weekly SBR's during the summer and actually do a mini-tri every Wednesday. 1/4 mile swim, 10 mile bike and 2 mile run.  They have a bunch of social nights and guest speakers and even do a weekend clinic at a nearby mountain.  The dues were dirt cheap so even if it doesn't pan out I hope to at least get some good group training in this summer to really push me when I need it.

Re weather, looks like snow/rain around here for the next 3 days.  Craptastic.  Got in a short run last night just testing the foot.  Swim tonight but I need some new goggles as mine are leaking.

good group to join, that will be a huge help for race preparation, and knowing people with different strengths to ask questions is always a huge help.

weather here should be getting into the mid to upper 60's for the next week and beyond... awesome. i really need to start getting in some long run/rides/swims.... was thinking about where i am now and when my 70.3 is and it is scary.

I keep meaning to get a foam roller, do you use it a lot?  My wife gets a lot more knotted up than I do but I bet if I hit my quads with that thing it'd be magical.

I have to admit I suspected something like that while trying to break them in, she sabotaged my run last night with wine and a movie!!

Nevermind, I had a good swim this morning, not surehowfar altogether but I finished with two 200s which is a new one for me!

i use it after every workout involving my legs.  it helps prevent a lot of issues from popping up, so it is good to use it before you feel like you need to.

well, i wasn't planning on doing it today, but i bought a new bike.  got a 2012 Scott CR1 Elite for less than half of retail.  Going to pick it up tomorrow after they transfer it to the store here in town and throw on the Keo MAX pedals i picked up too.

wasn't the S3 or S5 i originally wanted, but i couldn't pass this one up because of the price.

I love my CR-1. Still one of the better bikes I've ever ridden.
