MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Okay, got up and did 2.5 this morning. Am slowly increasing my running time vs walking on the training. Who knows, maybe by the end of this challenge I'll be able to do a slow 2 mile run without any walking. Got to run(ha ha!). Have to spend today and tomorrow in interviews. We have 19 people to interview for 6-8 positions depending upon how many part time vs full time that we can get. Let's hope we have some really good candidates. Keep running everyone. My first week I did 6 miles, second 7.5, so that means this week needs to be 8.5 or 9 miles. As the Little Engine that Could said, "I think I can, I think I can" Edited by kns57 2007-10-15 6:14 AM |

Veteran 151 West Allis | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread I'm back, I'm back Thanks for everyone's kind words. I wasn't all that close with my grandpa, but he was the last grandparent I had, and its the first major death in our family in over 10 years, so like Lyssa said, it REALLY steals your energy. On today, the 15th day of the month, I'm at 31 miles for the month, so still over 50% for the month. Not sure what this week will bring, but I should be able to get 9 to get me up to 40 at least. Hopefully more. I plan on going out for a nice long walk today, maybe I'll be at 40 today, it will give me some time to clear my mind. Lyssa, first and foremost, you rock. But seriously, you have taken this kicking my thing WAY too far. I'm kidding, I'm very very proud of you, and your times are GREAT! Thanks again everyone... |

Veteran 288 Owings, MD | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Did 3.1 miles on Saturday morning while out of town for a family reunion in the Poconos. It was such a wonderful time and beautiful there, although the elevation and the colder temps made it harder to run as much as I wanted to. That brings my total to 22.44 miles so far this month. Considering my previous months were 20 & 25 miles for the entire month, this challenge is certainly helping me get out there and get moving! Thanks! |

Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread ok, i'm taking the day off. you all can catch up with me now no seriously. i was planning to take the day off anyway, but hubby got called in early today, so he left at, i don't know, 4 something. i just DON'T do early morning runs, THAT early but it's not raining, and it would be a good day to run, i probably would have talked myself in to going out if hubbs was here. |

Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Hey everyone - Here is the total through yesterday's runs. Good job kns57 for getting out there this morning - that 2.5 miles will go on next weeks run totals. Good start for the new week. I will be running later with hubby - we live on gravel and had HUGE storms come through last night so we are hoping the gravel is a bit more firm to run on later. I am going to post the spreadsheet in the leaders thread. We are at 55.01% for the first two weeks. Great job team. I am not sure we can count Husker Tri Girl out yet - she posted 4.74 miles this week - she is running small amounts but still has a ways to go. Lets inspire away. So far only two teams have posted results and we are in the lead of the two. Will keep you updated.

Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread As the fearless leader I bring good news - I ran 3 miles straight with hubby today in 31.07 (fastest time in about a year). Hubby is doing great and we are both seeing weight loss (me 4 lbs, him just over 5 in three weeks) so that is motivation to keep getting out there. But... the good news is this... More teams have posted their results in the leader thread and we are still on top after 4 teams have posted. Poison Apples - 55.01% Goblins - 53.4% Things that Go Bump in the Night - 49.75% Creepy Crawlies - 49.3% I will update when more post. GOOOOO Poison Apples.

Veteran 288 Owings, MD | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Great job, everyone! Did another 2.71 miles tonight, although it HURT! I think my ankles and knees are swollen from two days of substituting alcohol for water during the family reunion weekend, and eating the down-home, salt-laden, all-inclusive meals probably didn't help either. Back on track for the team's sake! |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Yay back home and may be able to avoid tomorrow's training on postsecondary workability instruction and goals. Swimming worked a few muscles that haven't been worked in a while, I got home late after the training on legal issues post IDEA 2004 and NCLB with ramifications for public schools, its dark out and raining and well, I'm just gona call it a day off and pick it up tomorrow.... with a bikeride. Wed should be an interesting brick, run 15 min bike 30 min, run 15 min. Not sure if that is better or worse than run 20 min, bike 34 miles for sat. Kk catch yall tomorrow. |

Stacie It appears from the "posted" results (some of the charts had been altered and I had a hard time reading them so bare with me) but I think we were pushed to 3rd. Black Magic - 53.09% Bad Omens - 55.9% (so close to us) Living Dead - 58.84% () Otherwise good job everyone. Stacie |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread The Challenge within the Challenge: Can YOU achieve it? So you know your goal for the month. It's to run ___ miles. And that's awesome..... But what about challenging yourself just a bit more this week? Here is this week's challenge within the challenge: 1) Go to your training log. If you don't see the calendar view, click "Calendar" at the top of your screen. 2) At the right side of the calendar are your weekly Run totals. There should be a total for week #1, and a total for week #2. 3) Select the higher of these two numbers. Add 10%. That's your goal for this week. Can you achieve it? Just run 10% more this week than you did in a previous week. For example, "Jackie" ran 8 miles the first week, and 10 miles the second week. Ten is her higher number. Adding 10% brings it to 11 miles. So Jackie's goal for this week is to run 11 miles. Can you do it? Good luck! And be sure to tell us how you did! Dee |

Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Looks like from the preliminary results we have beat the Purple People Eaters and the Werewolves as well. As of right now we are still holding strong in 3rd place. We will see if that is 1/2 way correct when Cat posts the results.

Keep up the good work those of you getting rain, please send some to the south east. They are saying that if conditions don't improve soon, one of the lakes that supplies the metro Atlanta area will run out of water in 3 months. So me, I would love to run in the rain at this point. the rain would be so welcome. |

Veteran 151 West Allis | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Just got back in from a nice 5.1 mile walk/wander. It was good to just clear my mind, and I really wandered in no general direction. Didn't run, at all, but thats ok. My legs feel pretty good, my Achilles hurts a little bit. May go out again later. I'm definitely down for the 10% challenge, which means I need to have 19 miles, and I'm at 9 on Tuesday, so I'm happy with that. Funeral is tomorrow so it's going to be an off day, but I'll get right back on track Thursday. Thanks again for everyone's kind words. It really means alot. |

Veteran 228 Greenbelt, MD | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread I'll try the challenge within a challenge but no promises because of bad news below.... Good news: did my mileage for today and even ran for 2 minutes of it (1 minute at a time...would have done 2 minutes in one shot except for bad news...) Bad news: calf started hurting about 45 seconds into first run. I had even done some serious stretching. I finished the first minute, walked for a few minutes, stretched again and tried running again. Yeah, it basically hurt the entire minute. So, I think I'm just going to have to wait another week to start the running and see where that leaves me for pain. I was all psyched to start running too. I'll see how it goes pain-wise to see if I can up the mileage any for the challenge w/i a challenge. If I do manage it I have to finish 9.16 miles. I've got 1.91 done so far...so, um, that's doable if my calf agrees...might be awfully slow miles though. More good news: Joined Weight Watchers online today...I so need the structure. Losing weight certainly won't hurt all the pain I'm causing my lower body with exercising. A little less stress on my legs would be nice. Last time I did WW I lost 60 lbs, so I know it works...just gotta keep up with it. Everyone else, you guys are doing awesome! I'm still very inspired by y'all. Keep it up and we'll win this thing (or at the very least not lose!). -Kelley Edited by AmbulanceDriver 2007-10-16 4:44 PM |
