Kel and I went to do the Tour de Shore this morning and there was a flyer for a time trial I might actually be able to win.

CCNS is putting on the "Donut Derby" (a 23 mile TT) where you get 90seconds taken OFF your time for EACH donut you eat.

Rudy, you might be well-suited for this one.

That's great.  My tri club has a Krispy Kreme 5k, I have not done it (don't like donuts).  But, if you train and apply yourself, I think you could finish with a negative time.

Sooooooo in! At 18 minutes per Dozen eaten, I could pull 30 minutes off my time without breaking a sweat, my goal would to go negative, 1:00 on the bike, 4 doz donuts.

I finished and got my cool finisher medal. I ran like a granny (OK I am one). finished in three hours. I know very slow, but considering I have not really put in much time training for distance I was pleasantly happy. Killer course with a hill that started at mile 6.5 and did not end until mile 8. then many rollers until mile 11.5 and then finally a nice down hill cruise. then flat to the finish appox 1/2 mile. I struggled with nausia about mile 5-7. did a shot block at mile 5 and then one at mile 8 as well as gater aid at 7. Calf held up well and so did my knee. Had nothing left at the end so I guess I was definitly undertrained.  But I finished and was not where close to last.

Nice job Terry.  Glad the calf help up.  Sounds like a brutal course.  Did they give you a six pack with the medal?  You worked hard, I think they should!

Kel and I are back from Hartford (following a post-race trip to Lululemon and Chipotle) and both had decent races.

Kel ran with Jeff-y for the first 6 miles until she dropped him like a ming vase.  Kel finished in 1:46 (with 13.3 on the Garmin) with Jeff trailing in around 1:52.

I started out nice and easy and dropped the hammer around mile 11.  It felt so great to just run through the crowd at the finish.  Finished in 2:35 with 13.25 on my Garmin.

i think it was due to my stench more than anything else, but whatever i can do to motivate... Argh!

Jeff completely stunk.  Standing next to him was like standing in a fraternity basement the day after homecoming.

In sad news Dan Wheldon (Indy Car Driver) passed away in a crash at the Vegas 300 today.  Shaun knew Dan (they trained with the same trainer in Tampa and got to work out together several times).  Shaun always looked up to Dan and its been a rough night for him.  Shaun hasn't cried since we got married, but he was crying tonight about Dan.

I read about this earlier on the net...such a tragedy.

My condolences to the Weldon family and all who knew him. He sure seemed like one of the good guys in the world.

Very sorry Shaun.... Quite tragic. I saw a news report they jammed a bunch of extra cars on the track despite drivers' complaints regarding safety.

I was happy to run this morning after the laziest weekend ever.  LOL  Went out Saturday night for dinner and a comedy show and got way, way too drunk.  Yesterday was spent nursing a nasty hangover.  Good time!  Reminds me why I don't drink very often   Comedian was way funny.

Going to refocus this week.  Nothing major but shifting gears a bit.  I haven't been on my bike in almost 6 weeks, and I haven't swum in 3 weeks.  Don't plan on cycling until Nov., but I may do a couple uber short swims a week from here on out.

Ugh.  Saw the replay of the wreck like 20 times already this morning.  Shaun I'm sorry.  Not much else you can say.

I got a short swim in today.  The water has felt good as of late and I don't want to lose that feeling.

I am still struggling to decide on REV3 Quassy HIM, or Timberman later in the season. That'll give me more outdoor training, and allow me to do the REV 3 Olympic before attempting a HIM. But, REV 3 is also close to home, at least 90 minutes away instead of 4 hours away.

I've looked at some of the HIM plans on here, and with those demands, I am not sure I have the mental toughness to put that kind of volume on a treadmill and indoor trainer.  Will start biking again in November on the trainer.  For now, just enjoying the mountain bike on the weekends.  I feel I developed a decent base this year, and shouldn't lose too much of that with a little break for a few more weeks. Not a full break, just light volume.  Fortunately, diet has been strong, even at Disney, I held up pretty well.  Halloween, Thanksgiving and Xmas will be a good test for diet. Although, I don't really have those strong cravings for garbage anymore.
