uhcoog - 2011-10-20 12:51 PM That is an aggressive goal.  I like it.

Thanks

Crazy how different the top 10 women's times were for the 3 disciplines in 2011.....some had wicked fast bikes and slower runs....others rode slower and ran faster....most posted pretty average swim times....

Only time will tell if my goal is too aggressive, but it never hurts to aim high.

just train your heart out.  You never know who will show up on race day.  As my high school football coach said, "your goal is not to win, that takes care of itself.  Your goal is to be prepared to win."

Itching to get on the road.  Instead I'm strapped to this desk for another 7-8 hours.  GAH!!!!  Really hope my MIL doesn't F the kid hand off up tomorrow morning.  Apparently there is something difficult to understand about "Be at Reagan's soccer game at 9 AM.  You can go watch the game, Scott will move their clothes and car seats into your car, and we'll leave for Austin."  Amazing she's made it to 60 really.

I get way too worked up for these races by the way.  Undecided

I would love, love, love to run more trails.  I think I'd love it for the scenery more than anything else.

Unfortunately, my ankles won't allow it.  I was in a cast twice in high school - once for coming down on someone else's foot while blocking a volleyball (middle blocker here) and the other when I ran in for an easy shot in basketball and came down on a body (center here).  Ever since these incidents, my ankles rolls whenever it gets the chance.  Heck, the Towpath half was 80% trail, and wouldn't you know it?  My foot found one of the rocks on the trail and my ankle flipflopped right over it.  LMAO.

btw, good luck this weekend, Scott.  Remember what you told me when I was heading to Chicago ---- let your wife and mother-in-law handle the kids.  You focus on you for the time being (I know, easier said than done).  You're going to do great!

I was thinking the scenery would be a nice distraction from the pain.  It's why I'm on the fence on doing my first IM at IMTX or somewhere more scenic.

Scott-- you are good to go.  Pace the bike and blow out the run.  You'll have a great time (and when you finish remeber IMTX is still open).

Is IMTX still open because it's an early season IM?  Just curious why it hasn't sold out yet.

Supposedly like 40 slots left as of this morning.  Have had 4 or 5 buddies register in the last 2 days.  KILLING ME!!!

Thanks for the votes of confidence y'all.  I'm just itching to go really.

It's hot, it's rumored to be a tough KQ'ing course, it's hot, water is pretty gross, it's hot.

Its early season, its hot, the swim is non-wetsuit and WTC is saturating the market.

A few pics from this past weekend at the HM.  Yes, they are copies, but I am ordering just one, so I don't feel too bad. Innocent

What makes the water gross?  Ocean or Lake?  Can't be worse than the Hudson can it?  That's like swimming in a septic tank!

Just all the run off from the roads, homes, and businesses in the area end up there.  Swims like IMFL, St. George, IMLP, etc. would be higher on my list.  Oh and it's fairly narrow so you can end up in the shallows easily if you're not careful.
